Joe Person on possible coordinator candidates
panther4life replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Couldn’t agree more. I remember Tepper even stating that the head coach gets to make the decisions on his staff, when referring to Wilks firing Snow after Wilks became the interim Coach. Right now we can only hope it’s just a rumor that doesn’t come to fruition. Marquand Manuel would be a very uninspiring hire imo -
He did have 3 successful seasons in Seattle and was the co-defensive coordinator of the saints last year. Not sure how much more proven you can find at this point unless someone comes out of retirement.

I’ve been doing a deep dive on on the NFL’s best secondaries in terms of passing TD’s and total yards allowed. There is common denominator that keeps popping up and that is Kris Richard. He’s done very well everywhere he’s been. He has spent over a decade under the tutelage of Pete Carroll. He also spent years under Dan Quinn and was his successor after Quinn took the falcons job. As the Seahawks D.C they ranked 1st, 3rd, and 13th in total ppg in his 3 seasons at D.C He was then let go and joined Dallas. There he improved their secondary. The year before him the cowboys secondary gave up 28 passing TD’s and reduced that number to 21 each of the next 2 seasons (top 10 in NFL). It appears he took 2020 off and then joined the saints coaching staff as a secondary coach and later co-defensive coordinator. In those 2 seasons with the saints they have been ranked 3rd in passing TD’s allowed and and improved all the way to 2n in passing yards allowed last season. He has experience under more household names like Dan Quinn and Gus Bradley in addition to several years under Pete Caroll who is clearly a top NFL Head Coach. Additionally he has the perspective of being an actual former NFL player for 6 seasons as well. His counterpart as co-defensive coordinator just took that D.C job with Atlanta. I sure think it would be nice to kill 2 birds with 1 stone by stealing him from the saints and making him our defensive coordinator.

Joe Person on possible coordinator candidates
panther4life replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree with that name at the moment, pending further research. Defensively I like the secondary coach (John Butler)for the Bills, although he doesn’t haven’t any known ties to Reich. -
Kris Richard looks pretty good as D. coordinator. The Saints secondary has been very good with him statistically the last 2 seasons. John Butler has coached the Bills secondary since 2018 and they’ve been very good as well during his tenure as well. He also did a great job with the Texans secondary for a few years prior to his time with the Bills. Those 2 would be my top choices for D.C Obviously I’d like to keep Campen for o-line as well.

https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/nfl/colts/2018/02/13/live-updates-frank-reichs-introductory-press-conference-colts-coach/332606002/ Some interesting tidbits here and will be interesting to see how this will compare to the answers he gives on his Panthers presser on Tuesday. Here’s some of the excerpts: We will be a multiple attack, up-tempo offense. We will be aggressive. What I mean by multiple is that we will use multiple personnel groups in multiple formations to be able to run the same plays over and over again, to disguise it so that team won’t know what we’re doing. We will keep them off-balance with run and pass. We will change up the tempo. There will be a strong element of no huddle offense to the Colts offense. The analogy that I like to use is the analogy of a boxer. When you step into a boxing ring you want to impose your will on your opponent and as an offensive team and as a team in general we want to impose our will on the opponent. So as an offense, to impose your will means you run it when you want to run it and when you have to run it and you throw it when you want to throw it. We speed it up when we feel we’ve got somebody on the ropes and we can put them down for the count and you slow it down sometimes when necessary. That’s the analogy, that’s what it will be, and we will build the players around that kind of scheme. I will call the plays but you can’t even imagine the collaboration that goes into preparing the call sheet, preparing the first 15, how we are prioritizing our third down calls, how we are prioritizing our red zone calls, all of the situational football during the course of the game... there has got to be one voice and I will be that voice calling it on game day but it will be a collaborative effort. The first one is that we will be the toughest. We will be the toughest both mentally and physically. What I mean by that is there will be a relentless pursuit to get better every day. A relentless pursuit, relentless every day, to get better and an obsession with finishing strong. Secondly, we will be the most disciplined team... discipline is going to be the foundation that’s going to create a lot of joy out on that field and in this city, and when we wear the horseshoe we will be wearing it with a lot of joy and a lot of pride in our hearts. It is going to be fun to be a part of that. Thirdly, we are going to be the most prepared team... What we are going to be about as an organization and as a football team is creating and cultivating habits, championship habits and championship thoughts, that’s the vision. fourth, we are going to be the most united team. We are going to be a close team. It is going to be built around trust, respect, and love. A love of the game... What we know is this, when you have championship culture, it’s going to result in many victories. That’s the vision. Also found out through that article he inherited 3 coaches that signed before Josh McDaniels backed out of the job. D. Coordinator: Matt Eberflus (Now the bears Head Coach) D-line coach: Mike Phair (we hired him in 2020, now he’s out of the NFL) O-line coach: Dave DeGuglemio (now coaching in college ranks) So both of his original coordinators are now head coaches ( Sirianni with the Eagles and Eberflus with the Bears). After Sirianni left, Reich promoted Marcus Brady to O.C, who ended up being fired a week before Reich. Gus Bradley is who ultimately replaced Eberflus at D.C, but former Panther Chris Harris, Joe Cullen, Jim Schwartz, Kris Richard and Joe Whitt Jr. were also interviewed.

Which candidates would YOU interview in round two?
panther4life replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have honed in on Reich being the guy. He’s worked with a multitude of QB’s and aside from a washed Matt Ryan, all of them seemed to perform their best under him. He comes with a winning record overall as a head coach and surely could put together a competent staff to work along with him. -
I watched several Giants games this year as my wife is a fan. Daniel Jones play this year is light years ahead of the potential anyone on our roster has. He’s played his ass off and often running for his life but the kid makes plays!

Could anything make you quit the team?
panther4life replied to Brooklyn 3.0's topic in Carolina Panthers
Moving was the nail in the coffin for the hornets for me. I was as diehard about them as I am the panthers but once I knew they were headed to N.O I checked out completely. Moving would likely jump on the Giants bandwagon with my wife. All that being said I’ve already taken a step back in my fandom, as I sold my PSL’s midway through the 2016 season. -
I don’t see any of these guys being our savior without a QB to pair them with. I have tried looking at the most successful coaches in history and even currently. I’d say the most common denominator for coaches to succeed really lies in having a great QB. I wish there was an easy correlation or trait to look for that determines a HC success level other than their roster, especially their QB but I can’t seem to find anything else. Wilks did horrible in AZ but showed he was light years better than Rhule, given the same roster and even did it while losing CMC. Will be interesting to see how this plays out but I’m even more invested in seeing if we can find a legit QB again.
-
I would not assume that at all. If Tepper called for this move then Fitterer was just following orders and if that's the case this in no way indicates he has job security.
-
I did not get the vibe that CMC asked to be traded at all from this presser. Not saying he didn't want out or made it known, but nothing from Fitterer here insinuates that to me. Seems more likely that offers started to come in and he had to make Tepper aware. Tepper probably signed off on anything that included a 1st round pick and anything less needed to further discussion. Something close enough came in and they bit. He's posturing as if they are not in wholesale/tank mode because he obviously has to but I really hope that since we started down this path we continue to try and move anyone who can net us picks, with the exception of Burns,Brown,Horn, Icky, and Moton.
-
Same. Moving a player like McCaffrey comes from the top. Sounded to me like we basically held an auction with a minimum reserve, no one actually hit the minimum reserve (a 1st) but Tepper and possibly Fitterer decided to settle on the best they could get. Sucks for Wilks as he's really not being given a chance at all to have the interim tag removed.
-
I agree, keep the defensive cornerstones and the offensive line. Everyone else can be replaced.
-
4th and 2 and the FG was the right choice? Insanely stupid. If later on we have to go for it on 4th down, no matter the distance we have to go for it. Moot point anyway as this game is over and hopefully so is Rhules tenure here.

The Previous Game is Under Review- Any Specific Requests?
panther4life replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
I felt like the receivers were locked up most of the game and not creating much separation and that’s not really the fault of Baker. From the other comments it seems others saw it too. -
Seems a good portion of this board think he may the answer to our QB woes or at minimum upset that Baker/Darnold will take away reps from him, hence impeding his ability to develop into a franchise QB.The odds of him becoming a franchise QB hover around 1% or less based on his draft position. In the last 20 years you have: Dak Prescott drafted 135th overall in 2016 8th QB taken that year. Derek Carr drafted 36th overall in 2014 4th QB taken that year Russell Wilson drafted 75th overall in 2012 6th QB taken that year Kirk Cousins drafted 104th overall in 2012 8th QB taken that year One could reason all of those QB’s would have been taken even earlier if not pushed down by higher rated prospects. Outside of them you don’t have a single QB anywhere near earning the label of a franchise QB or even a good to great starter drafted outside of the 1st round. So why is that so many seem convinced we struck Gold with Corral?

Please, David Tepper, can you stop making Charlotte cringe?
panther4life replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
Basically calls him out for pursuing Watson for over a year, bailing on Rock Hill and finding a way to file for bankruptcy to avoid paying contractors, firing the soccer coach halfway into the first season and execs stepping down. -
All I can do is give you my best guess for the Panthers: Wk1 @ Giants Wk 2 vs Niners Wk 3 @ Rams Wk 4 @ Bucs Wk 5 vs Browns (TNF) Wk 6 vs Steelers Wk 7 vs Falcons Wk 8 bye wk 9 @ Seahawks wk 10 vs Lions wk 11 @ Ravens wk 12 @ Saints wk 13 vs Cardinals wk 14 vs Saints wk 15 vs Bucs wk 16 @ Falcons wk 17 @ Bengals Wk 18 vs Broncos

Opinions on who is at fault for Cam's departure??
panther4life replied to WOW!!'s topic in Carolina Panthers
By the end of his tenure here the first timeit looked as if he was done. Other NFL teams agreed, as he only signed a vet minimum deal with N.E., then they cut him and while it’s reported Seattle and Houston made him offers, he didn’t exactly have a strong market for his services. Let’s hope all of this time off has helped him both physically and mentally and we see the best version he has left. -
This being based strictly from on field capabilities. I’d like to go ahead and nominate Dan Henning, O.C 02-07. As for players, I’m going with Matt Willig.

My last 2 seller clients here in Charlotte crushed neighborhood records. Inventory seems to be slowing down and it's making it tough for me to find new clients. My apologies for spamming this thread but if anyone on here is thinking of buying or selling anytime soon, I'd love to help any of you! I have got a proven track record and references.
