I genuinely hope that move gets him fired. Lovie Smith gifted you the next great QB and you traded away the pick...

He's only generational between the ears (which, yes, is the most important part). He's simply too small to risk two first round picks, two second round picks and your WR1 on. Of the two recent comparisons, both Wilson and Murray were bigger (stockier), more mobile and with better arms. I actually liked Simms' comment (not sure if it was in the Young evaluation or the Richardson one) where he said "his floor is 'he's too small to play in the NFL'". That's terrifying for a GM - that's not something that has blindsided you 6 months after you Draft him, you're picking him knowing it's a distinct possibility.

I'll walk that one back then - I thought he was still the backup in Minnesota.

I think that's kinda the point though, isn't it? I'm by no means fronting for Jones, but for all the 'Fields is a Franchise QB' (that led his team to the #1 overall pick), he's hardly put any distance between himself and the rest of the... field. I can see why a QB evaluator who values throws from the pocket prefers Jones to Fields.

Was he wrong? Mond hasn't been able to beat out Kirk Cousins, but that was expected. Jones has put up better passing stats than Fields so far.

He's also like 4 years older.

Or they just think the FA WR class is dogshit.

I'm so glad he's not our QB Coach, he's an insufferable twat.

They reckon he played at 185lbs in College, but I could see a lower number. As for putting on that much weight between January and March - a lot of it will be water weight. -

I think essentially it'll come down to two factors: 1) how does the QB fit into Reich's offence (apparently he likes tall, accurate, pocket passers) 2) what is your projection for the QB? The Draft is about the next 5-10 years, not this season For Young I wonder if he's maxed out in College. He's the best QB right now, but is he going to be the best QB in 3 years time with his physical limitations? -

Some of them are, yes. The NFL is recruiting class after recruiting class of College All-Stars - a decade's worth infact. -

PacMan Jones said "I'm 5'10" too and I can't see over the Oline". JJ Watt said "If you like him, and he can make his reads, who cares about his size?" - the context was McAfee was talking about monsters like Watt coming after him on the Dline. -

I'd love to see the stats for Murray and Wilson on throws over the middle. I'd bet that most of their success is on throws to the outside. -

If you want to join the dots, Dalton was the bridge starter in Chicago before they deemed Fields ready to take the reigns. -

It was reported that the price they were quoted for the #3 pick wasn't much lower than the price they were quoted for the #1 overall pick, so they took any doubt out of it and traded for #1 overall. Who knows if they're going to trade out again, but the rumours suggest they're not sold on one particular prospect right now. -
He's a South Florida turncoat, so realistically you wouldn't want him anyway, but yeah the asking price is clearly too rich for everyone or he'd have been traded by now.
-
I haven't read what they want for Hopkins, but isn't he in his 30s?
-
They want a first round pick, or a high second round pick plus a player. He's not as good as the WR we've just traded away.

Marc Ryan - "Carolina Zeroed in on Stroud and Richardson"

If it was a smoke screen they'd be stating that the Panthers are enamoured with Young, as that's the guy the Texans want (allegedly). With regards to trading up for a project - the Draft is about 5 years from now, not just this season. They may think that Stroud's ceiling is limited, Young maxed out in College and Richardson is the next franchise QB off the conveyor belt - who actually knows.
