It's not a myth, but yes it's been phased out as a common practice. Teams like to carry an extra STs guy now (for reasons that baffle me) rather than a developmental guy at the most important position in all of sports.

I think it's just confirmation that our WR corps sucks. Shenault is a gadget guy who should never line up outside (he can't track a football), Smith sucks and nobody is excited about Wright or Vann. You should always be trying to get better - I expected us to pick up a WR or two from waivers. Obviously they've targeted this guy in particular. I wouldn't be surprised if we go after another.

It's not about playing your third QB it's about developing them. If they don't think Corral is the guy then cut him, but bring in someone they think can be the guy ('the guy' being a young player that can be developed into at least a good backup QB).

I fear we're wasting his career.

I mean our WRs kind of suck, I wouldn't sweat the bottom of that particular part of the roster. Also did I see that right? A swapping of 7th rounders? Very presumptuous to assume they'll finish with a better record than us now that we have our Short King.

Was I serious about Young having to be an exceptional player to justify spending 5 premium picks to acquire him? Yes.

In the two years since we traded him he has 37 total receptions and has just been cut by the Eagles. He's not someone to die on a hill over.

Young has to be sensational for that trade not to be one of the worst of all time. Henderson was a TE that evidently isn't good enough for the NFL and a third round pick for a 5th round pick. Hardly crippling.

And yet he's still a damn sight better than the 26 other players we're about to cut. There is no quality depth on this roster.
