Anthony Richardson Film Breakdown Megathread
OldhamA replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Gibbs is a funny one - he was unbelievable for GT and great for Alabama... except good lord he has no idea about blocking assignments. -
That sentence doesn't make sense unless he's saying "You are whining on a message board".

I agree, his size is his only true knock - but it's a hell of a knock. It's like drafting a CB that runs a 5 second 40 yard dash. His speed is always going to be a problem, regardless of how great his bump-and-run technique or zone coverage is.

Person: Richardson still in the conversation...if we trade down
OldhamA replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we're the situation all 3 QBs would want to be in - at least in the short term, and hopefully in 2-3 years time they're good enough to influence the situation around them like a franchise QB should. As I've said, I think Richardson is the potential superstar of the group. Young I think will either bust (purely due to his size) or have a middling NFL career and Stroud... there's something about his game I don't like that I can't quite put his finger on, but if you hook him up with a HC / OC that spells it out for him he can get the ball where it needs to go every down (like Goff in Detroit / L.A.). -
See, this is the massive concern I have with Young. Brock Purdy scored a 4.55 on the RAS score last year - basically he's a 6', 212lb QB that ran a 4.8 40 yard dash. He was a 4 year starter at Iowa St and had consistently good stats (67% completion percentage, 81 TDs, 33 INTs, 12,000 yards, 151 QB rating). He didn't hit anywhere near the TD heights Young did, he also had nowhere near the surrounding talent. Despite all that (and the super high S2 score) the NFL deemed that he was only worth the last pick in the Draft. Unless Young ran a 4.2 40 yard dash he'd have tanked his RAS score 'cos he's smaller and lighter than Purdy. Apparently this is no longer a concern for the NFL... because, reasons?

*you're I'm 'whining' on a message board because a) I'm British, so good luck getting a foot in the door of an NFL franchise and b) I have a very lucrative career of my own. There's a reason these guys are fired every other year too - besides someone like Ozzie Newsome, they're all flawed. I mean at one point Thomas Dimitroff was considered hot poo (NFL Exec of the year) and now he has a podcast in his mid-50s.

We've no idea what the Cardinals were asking for. Just that it wasn't 'significantly less' than the Bears. It might not have been Moore, but it might have been an extra 2nd round pick. I agree that I don't think Young, Stroud and Richardson are going to pan out - which is why I can't get behind the "I'm happy with any" mentality. You have to evaluate and work out which one / two aren't going to succeed and why. I've nailed my colours to the mast - I think Richardson is the potential superstar of this group. -
Good lord, imagine not having a problem with Young's size. As I've repeatedly said, I hope that don't get drawn in by the off-the-field stuff when it's the on-the-field stuff that matters.

Albert Breer: Bryce Young scored 98 on his S2 teat
OldhamA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The NFL is the All-SEC players (and All-BIG10 / All-ACC etc) for the last 10 years stacked on top of each other. It pops off the screen when Young faces a projected NFL athlete (the LSU game in 2022 in particular is terrifying). He's not going to run away from DLinemen in the NFL. He's going to have to win from the pocket - which I have doubts that that he can do due to his size. I hope you're all ready for a dink and dunk offence if we draft him, because that's how Brees won at his size - and that negated his physical limitations, like Young will have to do. -

I mean if you're box score scouting, Stroud had a better year than Young this year too (you could argue for Clayton Tune too, but I wouldn't do that). -

If you're box score scouting you won't like Richardson. If you watch the tape you're blown away by him. He obviously needs work (he's 20 years old), but as said earlier today, he makes incredibly difficult stuff look easy. -

I mean they're not fooling anyone - the NFL teams have access to all of these scores. -

He's not making it past the Colts / Seahawks / Raiders (all without trade ups). We went to #1 to get into the QB conversation. -

Oh is his height (and weight) no longer an issue? Excellent. -
See I'd take the risk that Young is going to massively bust / is already capped out at #9 overall. I don't understand trading so many resources for the same gamble at #1 overall.
-
How many current NFL QBs would you trade #1 overall for?
OldhamA replied to panther4life's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is a good question - the 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks and DJ Moore deal we sent for the actual #1 overall pick: Mahomes Burrow Allen The actual #1 pick itself (especially in this Draft): Lawrence Herbert Jackson -

I know he's small, but I think don't think he's breastfeeding anymore. -

At the latest he'd start after the Bye week, whenever that is. An owner and a coach want the player that's going to be best 3 years from now, not one that's better immediately, but has a capped ceiling. -

I don't think he'll sit for long - you're right he needs to play and they'll want to get him on the field as soon as possible. His NFL team might not have elite talent, but they're still NFL calibre players - a massive upgrade from what he was playing with in Gainesville. -

To be fair I'm not sure Reich knows Corral is on the roster. I'm yet to hear him mention him by name. -

Hopefully the Texans are firm on their Bryce or bust train and offer us something we can't refuse. -

He was wise to get out of that dumpster fire in Gainesville. Why stay another year in College if you're not getting the coaching you need? Not to mention the lack of talent around him to showcase his abilities.
