    If I'm their agents I look at the clusterfug in Charlotte and steer my client well away. We've never had a legitimate QB competition in the time Young has been here and they've just promised to give him $27m after 3 years of inept play. I don't say to my client "well when he falters again you'll get a chance" because I don't honestly believe that to be the case.

    I don't think we should spent $27m on a replacement level player. I'm a Miami Hurricanes fan, so I have zero affinity for Howell, he's just objectively a better QB than Young.

    I just listed 4 QBs that are better than Young that are making less, combined, than his 5th year option. This year we have the chance to go out and sign Howell, Lance, Minshew and Willis. We of course won't because we don't want to hurt Bryce's feelings.

    Jameis Winston is getting paid $4m this year. Davis Mills is getting paid $7m this year. Sam Howell is getting paid $1m this year. Gardner Minshew is getting paid $1m this year. So yes, yes I do.

    But he was the #1 overall pick (forget what we traded for him for a moment). A 5'10", noodle armed #1 overall pick. He wasn't meant to need development. He was the most 'football ready' QB in the Draft.

    Will be interesting to see how we handle this. Historically off-the-ball LBs (and TEs and Ss) haven't been seen as first round talents. You spend first rounders on CBs, OT, QB, WR, DE and DT.
