Just for shits and giggles (in order of brilliance): Tony Romo - 5.01 Matthew Stafford - 4.81 Matt Ryan - 4.89 Philip Rivers - 5.08 Ben Roethlisberger - 4.75 Drew Brees - 4.83 Peyton Manning - 4.88 Patrick Mahomes - 4.8 Tom Brady - 5.28

So you're a pretty content Panthers fan then 'cos that's pretty much what we've achieved as a franchise so far. No thanks. I'd like to be a consistent winner.

I honestly don't think it's as simple as Lawrence > Wilson > Fields > Lance > Jones (several well respected QB evaluators have Lawrence and Wilson as a clear 1-2 with Jones as the third guy). I'm also not sure about the resources involved either - some think Lance will fall significantly. A lot of posters have entrenched themselves with their opinion on these QB prospects and every debate just descends into the same old tired arguments.

Who do you think will be the Panthers 2021 starting QB?

What was said yesterday? -
Delhomme was literally the king of rainbow deep throws. That's not an indication of arm strength at all.
-
No mention of Rhule - the shaaaaaaaade.
-
It's a little bit pathetic at this point.
-
At the end of the day they spent a week with him in Mobile - and didn't push him to play in the game with a niggling foot injury. They'll know all they need to about him at this point - and as Rhule has discussed, getting to know the guys is half the evaluation battle (something he's missed with the Combine being cancelled). We'll see how it plays out, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's our guy.

I'll still take the 2001 Canes. McGahee, Portis, Gore, Johnson, Winslow and Shockey. Two certain HoFers.

Sounds like Jets' 2nd pick is open for business...?

Their floor is one of the hottest QB commodities in the NFL and a guy that's taken the Browns to their first Playoffs in forever? I mean, c'mon son. -
Damn, son. I've defended Bridgewater all year because I don't think he's as bad as many make out, but when Clark Kent savages you like that it's time to get in your mini-van and hit the road.

I'd be less scared to go for it if we had an NFL roster to back up said rookie QB. Sadly Rivera and Hurney left us in a mess. We need all the Draft picks we can get at the moment. -
I'm in the minority here, but I didn't want Newton with the #1 overall pick. After we selected him I thought we should have gone all in on the Auburn offence that he was so successful in. Granted he'd be retired now, but he'd probably have a Super Bowl ring.
-
Exactly. Allen is the outlier - a QB that's gone away and significantly improved his mechanics. At such a technical position like QB, where you don't have time to think about your mechanics (because you're trying not to think about the 300lb man trying to rip your head off as you process the defence), it's very difficult to rework what at 21/22 is now very natural to you. To be fair to Lance, he has such limited experience as a QB that potentially his mechanics aren't ingrained yet, so you could stash him for a year away from said 300lb killers and rework what you need to.
-
His mechanics have got significantly worse with a year away from live action. Just watch the game he played last year. I'm all for taking Lance, but not with a Top 10 pick. He's such a massive roll of the dice.

Mike Davis Signs 2-Year Deal with the Falcons
OldhamA replied to Greatman77's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd argue Rodney Smith finished the season stronger and we still have Bonnafon to come back. This is a smart use of resources. Davis is alright, but not worth anything above vet minimum. -
So you're the guy that distorts Bridgewater's stats then. He'd roast you going deep to Anderson, Moore and Pitts.
-
I thought we were doing a like-for-like comparison? Anderson isn't a TE and McCaffrey barely touched the field last year. The Jaguars drafted a guy to be their no.1 WR last year - he's pretty good, but Moore is better.
-
I'd take Chalk, Robinson and Eifert over Anderson, Davis and Thomas.
-
Georgia fan perchance? 1.15 into the video below:
-
Isn't that the game where he Moss'd Surtain?
-
Why are you trading back into the first round for him? Take him at #8, or trade down to later in the first round if you think he's not quite worth that / you have a good offer.
-
I don't understand this mindset. If our scouts / evaluators / coaching staff grade Pitts as a mismatch player (which he is from what I've seen of him in College), then a) he's worth a 1st round pick and b) he'll put Arnold and Sullivan (who?!) in the shade.
-
The same three receivers that had career years with Bridgewater last season? This narrative people are spinning is weird.
