The two big concerns I'd have with Lawrence if we were in the game for him are: a) that offence is gimmicky as poo. So much of it is based off screens, misdirection and RPO with superior athletes. b) his inconsistent ball placement when throwing downfield. That stat right there backs up a).

I wouldn't be surprised if this is retribution by Texas oil / big business, lifting the veil of anonymity on Watson's actions. It doesn't mean the charges are false though.

You think Jones gets past us and the Broncos? Clearly the 49ers didn't.

If we land Fields do we give him the #1 jersey?

I'd only retire the numbers of HoFers. -
I'd walk away if Tepper did that to me as a HC. He'd be hamstringing the team for years to sate his ego. Go back to coaching college teams - you wouldn't be short of offers.

Likewise, you don't pass on talented players if the QB that everyone thinks you desperately need to draft has too many question marks raised by your scouts for you to be comfortable with him. I'm all for taking late round fliers on Lance, Newman, Mond, Mills etc - all guys with technical flaws that you MAY be able to coach out of them if your QB Coach is good enough (and has the time). I'm not ok with taking guys at #8 (or hell, trading UP for guys) that aren't bonafide generational QB prospects.

49ers just traded to possibly get....Mac Jones

Mainly because he hasn't played in a year, played one season before that and came from a High School that predominantly ran the ball. -

Anyone not named LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Florida would struggle to compare - I'm watching England play, so I'm not going to bother digging into those rankings again. Alabama aren't the competition. Alabama are the run away leaders. Those cheating bastards have the game rigged.

2020 class - 6 2019 class - 4 2018 class - 17 2017 class - 13 Stacked. Their TE could play for us tomorrow. On a side note, FSU were dumb as fug not to give Jimbo Fisher whatever he wanted to remain HC.

For Mond, just like with Lance, I guess I've just been too burned by watching Newton repeat the same mistakes for a decade to fall in love with them. When a QB enters the Draft with obvious technical flaws that terrifies me. Especially as it's clear that those technical flaws are incredibly difficult to coach out of a guy at the elite level.

To Sign or not to Sign - Bridgewater vs Draft. DRAFT

Moore, Samuel and Anderson had career years with this 'awful' QB and McCaffrey missed most of the season. We'd have been better with a better QB, obviously, but not by a lot. Of course roster building is never done, but we have very few core pieces on the roster right now. The ones you'd consider in that role are first / second year players so who knows how they develop. -

What? -
To quote the great Dave Chappelle: "Sharon, with all due respect, that murderer ran for over 11,000 yards". Yes, if he can help my team win football games.

I guess that's fair, it could be historically bad like the 1999 Draft. -

Hence 'deep' into the Playoffs. We might have backdoored our way in with a better QB, but we'd have been smashed regardless. -

Bridgewater is nothing like Allen. Allen is your typical dumb gunslinger who doesn't read a defence very well and thinks he can fit the ball into every window. Bridgewater generally reads the game very well, but is hugely conservative with the ball because he knows the limitations of his arm - he leaves a lot of yards / points on the field. -

Nobody genuinely knew who Wilson or Jones were this time last year and Lance hasn't played for a year. This isn't a historic QB class at all. -

Nah, Watson couldn't drag his team to more than 4 wins last year. Everyone's hero, Newton, couldn't drag his team to back to back winning seasons. QB is hugely important, but so is the rest of the roster. We're not at the point where the (mediocre starting) QB is the difference between being a consistent threat to go deep into the Playoffs or not. -
You do realise Mond played for Texas A&M, right?

I'd be delighted if we were just a good QB away. Our roster is miles away from that being a reality right now. Two more Drafts like the last one and I'll change my tune. -

The Bridgewater trade rumours were at the same time we were in the running for Stafford and Watson. You can't trade him away if you don't have a backup plan. Grier and Walker aren't NFL calibre players. You can't go into the Draft NEEDING to draft a player - that's how you end up with a bust.
