McAfee said on his show that the rumour is Peyton Manning vouched for him. I can't believe the Jets are that dysfunctional, right?

Trojans sticking together.

Generational gets thrown around here like World Class does in football. It loses meaning when there's multiple generational talents in every Draft (or about 50 World Class players walking around).

Not a massive fan of his technique:

Breer talks about Gase (and Tannehill; oh, and Darnold)

The same Cam Newton that never put up back-to-back winning seasons? He was good, but he wasn't great. He had an excellent defence in 2015 (and a pretty decent offence). -

The Browns roster literally shits on ours. -

If you listen to Pat McAfee, Manning was the de facto GM too. -
By 'okay' you mean 'turned two dumpster fire programs around in short order', right?

I think it's the opposite. Bridgewater was too conservative with the ball - he wasn't taking the shots that were there. That was clearly frustrating Brady and Rhule. It's also not what the system is about - you have to take those shot plays when they present themselves.
-
They've already picked up his 5th year option.

Strangely I actually prefer the Darnold trade to the Stafford one - I thought Stafford was very much a 'win now' option, but still leaves us struggling to address the OT position with an elite prospect. The Darnold trade could be good for the next decade plus and allows us to build the team around him. Obviously Stafford is the better QB, but we need to build a team.

Here's what I'll say, check out Burrow's stats pre and post Brady: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/joe-burrow-1.html Rhule and Fitterer have handed our OC (who was getting HC interviews after one year as an NFL OC!) a QB that ticks all the boxes you want physically and mentally. He's also 24 when the season starts. If this dude (and the QB Coach tbf, 'cos he has some footwork issues to overcome) is as good as they say he is then Darnold will be the future for us. If not then he shouldn't be getting those HC calls.

Plus Stafford has a special arm and Darnold doesn't (although he has a good one).

Just playing around - I haven't done enough research into the NFL Draft this year to do a full 7 rounder. I'd also draft a K and probably trade some of those additional picks for picks next year tbh.
-
You couldn't pay me enough to do that job - what a thankless task. "I'm going to guess what famously unpredictable people are going to do in the Draft".
-
Pitts might be the best player in the Draft. I still think he's a Flex-TE, but in terms of the mismatches he's going to bring he's potentially very special.

Has the trade for Sam Darnold changed your outlook on the 2021 season?
OldhamA replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
On the season? Not really - I'll discuss that after the Draft. On the new GM and how he's going to work with Rhule? Absolutely - this is a downright sensible trade that COULD turn out to be an absolute steal for us. If it doesn't work out it's only a shrug-your-shoulders failure. I was becoming very anxious that we were going to trade 3 first round picks and 2 key defensive starters for Watson. That's not how winning teams are built. -
Who does?

Additional motivation behind the Darnold trade?
OldhamA replied to Peon Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel like some people are too invested in the 'Top 4' QBs from this years Draft and can't let them go. -
Much like the Darnold trade - talented guys that this coaching staff think they can get more out of than previous coaching staffs. Elflein was actually pretty good at C for the Vikings. He's been poor at OG, albeit he can play in a zone scheme there. Erving has never been an OT for me - his value is because he's a swing OLman.
-
I've always been a major fan of moving College OTs inside to play OG in the NFL. Erving hasn't nailed down a place at OT in the NFL, so I'd put him inside (I know he can play there though in a pinch). Elflein - I've just seen Paradis play football. Also they restructured his deal to give us more cap space. I suspect he'll be cut at the end of the season.
-
Stud LT please. (I wouldn't be opposed to double dipping on the Oline). Erving at G, Elflein at C, Moton at RT. Oline is markedly improved from 2020.
