I bet they literally can't afford to pay him and Jackson (who's out of contract next year). At the end of the day they drafted him in the third round got 3 years of good-great play out of him and got a bunch of picks for him. I'd love to lose that kind of trade every year as a Panthers fan. Btw the Chiefs are building a super team. Seems NFL franchises have finally found a way around that dreaded Salary Cap nonsense, eh?

For one thing, you're not going to die wondering with Darnold as your QB. He's going to take those shots that Bridgewater refused to. Secondly he's not been brutal in the NFL. He's not been the savior the Jets hoped for, but it's clear that he's been saddled with an AWFUL HC / OC for two of his three years. As much as I love Berrios and Herndon (he'd start for us), they didn't provide him with enough weapons last year. When Crowder is your best receiver (and I think he's a very decent slot receiver) you're bold-faced tanking. There's multiple games like the one below on YouTube. The kid can play. The best indicator for me is that they were 0-10 when Darnold didn't start due to injury.

They have a First Team All-Pro LT (the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL - he was hurt last year). Brown wants to be paid like an All-Pro LT . He has one year left on his contract. Sometimes you've just got to bite the bullet.

Former Jets scout Daniel Kelly on Trey Lance

What advantage does Sewell have over Slater, besides being 30lbs heavier (which isn't exactly desirable in a zone scheme)?: Slater Sewell I just don't get this 'generational' talk about Sewell. I see an athletic guy that needs to work on his technique. In Slater I see an athletic guy that has mastered his technique. Neither one is really tall / long enough for you to drool over them as prototypical NFL OTs - but I don't doubt they can both play there. Gun to my head I'm taking Slater, but I wouldn't be opposed to trading out of the pick either. -
The “Deep OT class” may not be as deep at LT in scouts eyes

We floated every possible scenario in that press conference - I wouldn't read too much into it. -
He's looked exhausted for a while. I thought it was just the difficult season under COVID restrictions, but it's continued into the Draft run-in. It's a little surprising as the College season is a constant GRIND with recruiting.

I want Fields to be on the board when we pick. Just because I want to see a server meltdown.

What would you give up to trade up to 4?

Nada. -
That seems to be the American way when it comes to journalism. It's rampant that side of the pond. It's always annoyed me (I have a Journalism degree).

That's not the only thing he's eating.

Oh absolutely - same with Mac Jones this year, albeit Jones, Murray and Burrow did it on National Championship contending (and winning) teams. Lance would be off my board until the second round if I was a GM. There's just not enough data on him against quality opposition. If someone picks him high and he turns out to be a superstar then all credit to them - they've gambled and won. I'm very much a floor guy. -

Based on one good season in a sub-par league two years ago? I mean he maybe wrong, but anyone talking in such absolutes can't call others idiots imo. -
People really underrate Ryan. He's a sensational QB.

Not if they've watched him play.

Yikes, Daniel Kelly took that personally, huh. -
Well that's where talent evaluation and actually sitting in a room with the guy does for you. Darrisaw had a terrible HC in College. Maybe you can unlock that potential.

Jimmy Johnson on Darnold and Rhule
OldhamA replied to Little Goody Two Shoes's topic in Carolina Panthers
How can you possibly despise the U?! -
Darrisaw has better tools than either Sewell or Slater for LT. He's got by at VT by just doing enough. If you think you can improve that mentality with coaching / culture then he's going to be a hell of a player. If not then he's going to be a bust - that lackadaisical style won't fly in the NFL for long. He's never going to be a people mover like Sewell, but in a zone blocking scheme you don't need him to be.

It's not even the equivalent of our third round pick this year - if you believe in the theory that future picks are less valuable (which many NFL teams do).

Greatest HC of all time. -
I've seen a few mocks with Jaelan Phillips dropping out of the first round. That'd be a sensational second round pick. I'd also really like Radunz or Samuel.

Who is Jordan Mack?

The Dolphins are clearly targeting someone with that pick. You won't be getting a mock from me - I haven't had the time this year to research the Draft thoroughly enough. I'd be furious that other teams are getting a bevvy of picks and we'd miss out. I'd also be furious with one-season-wonder Toney.
