Another Trade Incoming! Bills trading DE Darryl Johnson to Carolina!
OldhamA replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
We haven't seen Erving and Elflein (he should play C) in action, but we're still crucifying them. Crazy. -

I like the graphic they've used: -

You can never have enough good pass rushers. -

We cut 6 guys then went radio silent. He wasn't on that list. -
He was Darnold's #2 receiver last year. Couldn't even make it out of camp with the Lions.

Too early to say that, but I will say he looks every inch of the 5 star prospect he was rated as coming out of High School.

Would you be upset if Sam was KC version of Alex Smith?
OldhamA replied to Panthercougar68's topic in Carolina Panthers
Let's be honest, if he came in and performed like Alex Smith did with the Chiefs (5 winning seasons in a row) he'd be the best QB to ever suit up for the Panthers. But once again it's more people disrespecting how good a QB Alex Smith was more than anything. -
Just a bloke that was drafted in the first round as a C... and another bloke that was drafted in the first round who played C in college.

Wouldn't he have to clear waivers first before it becomes a bidding war?

All three passes Jaycee Horn defended against Steelers
OldhamA replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
The thing I like most about Horn is the video he put up on his YT account (I don't follow it, it was just linked somewhere) where he went to train with Xavier Howard and co. I think in Miami. Anyway, he picked up their coaching tips instantly. That, coupled with his freaky length and athleticism, is incredibly exciting. I don't think many people will be moaning about not taking Player X with that pick in a few years time. He's that good. -
I'm very disappointed we weren't in on the Minshew trade - that would have solved a lot of problems. Right now we're picking between the tallest midgets at QB. Grier has played better in pre-season, but if either one has to start for any extended period of time we're boned.

Final cuts: Surprise makes and cuts for the 53 man roster
OldhamA replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn't be surprised if we trade for an OG and a LB. I'd love to trade for a backup QB too. -
(yes, I know that's not Jordan - his quote wasn't in the gif bank!)

I don't take anything Rhule tells the media on face value. He spoke positively about Perryman, then had him traded the next day. He said Slye was working hard and just going through one of those periods, then cut him the next day. The OL group isn't set in stone yet - they're clearly desperate to get Christensen involved in the mix somewhere (he's played at 3 different positions in these pre-season games) and all Brown has done is win. Paradis is terrible too - that can't be allowed to continue. Move Elflein there and stop the bleeding.

David Moore has 13 TDs in the NFL. How many do Saunders, Cannon and Zylstra have?

Is it a crowded position though? The top 5 separated themselves - Moore, Anderson, Marshall, Moore and Smith. Everyone else is fighting for a roster spot based on what they bring to STs.

Our new kicker should definitely rent.

A lot of teams are playing tonight, so we've got a head start on them. Yeah the first cuts aren't usually invited back to be PS players. As I said with Fisher - great instincts, but just not athletic enough for the NFL. Shame really.
-
I can't imagine who would trade for Thomas, but then we got something for Little so who the hell knows.
-
I think this is why the partnership will work. It's Rhule's team and he's got the final say on talent, but Fitterer is an extra pair of eyes AND he's got the admin side of it down pat. Rhule is ruthless - as evidenced by Perryman, Little and Slye (dude was basically cut on tv last night). He needs a right hand man to help him navigate the Front Office world though and he has that now.
-
I wouldn't like to speculate, I'm not au fait with every NFL roster. I think Darnold could easily be in the teens this year as a starting QB. I do think our backup situation is horrendous though, so I'd rank our QB room in the bottom third of the NFL.
-
David Moore makes it easily. I don't know if Smith is going to have to go on IR.
-
I think we'll get a good indication of how close Rhule / Fitterer think we are to contending for the Playoffs in the next few days. If they think we're close they'll trade for a starting LB and a starting LG.
