As many have alluded to on here, you don't fug around when it comes to potential franchise QBs. If we think there's one in this Draft (there isn't) then you take him at #6 - you don't mortgage a future 1st round pick to move back into the 1st in 2022 to pick the one that falls. That's even more moronic when you consider that next year's Draft is much stronger at QB.

Imagine if the Steelers didn't take Pickett when all Tomlin has to do is step out of his office to watch Pickett practice. Would say a hell of a lot about him as a potential franchise QB.

Hubbard ran for 600 yards and 5 TDs (and nearly 800 all purpose yards) behind a dogshit OLine. No, he didn't set the world alight, but I'll take that for a 4th round pick. The only disappointment so far from that Draft class has been Marshall - everyone else has flashed potential.

Depends who's there and what the offer is, but it's pretty clear the second round didn't go how they expected last year. Tepper was clearly relieved when we drafted Christensen after those trades because every other OT on our board went in that period. If you have an OT at #6 that you've identified as a good starting LT don't complicate things things.

Neal went to Alabama - a pro weight room won't be much (if any) better than what he's done for 3 years. Those guys don't tend to make a big leap once they hit the NFL - they're maxed out in College, but at least you know what you're getting.

Pretty much this. We traded for him based on potential and treated him with kid gloves in the pre-season as Sean Ryan tried to rework Darnold's footwork and processing. Come the regular season we put him behind an OLine that let the opposing defence cave his head in. He ended up with a concussion and a fractured shoulder blade. Now it seems we're incredibly keen to move on from him - with the kicker being that the new QB is going to have a competent OLine infront of him, which is just cruel. In my opinion the #6 pick should be spent on continuing to improve that OLine with a LT and we should draft a QB on Day 3, or pick up a Dalton / Fitzpatrick / Smith in FA to bolster the QB room. We can't go into the new season with PJ Walker as the backup, he's terrible. You're already paying Darnold $18m this year - and you're not in a position to pick up a significant upgrade without overdrafting / trading away valuable resources. Put him behind a good OLine and play out the season - if he's still terrible then there's 3 QBs you can target next year in the Draft (along with the usual QB carousel in FA) - either way that LT at #6 pays dividends.

It's been that way for him since HS. He was a massively heralded recruit at the time.

That's never a consideration for me when trying to draft a franchise LT in the Top 10.
