NFL: Bezos barred from bidding on Commanders
OldhamA replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't understand why they'd sell for $7bn. What makes the franchise so valuable? -
Todd McShay seems to really like Anthony Richardson

I think if you get the green light on him from your psychologists / coaches - whoever analyses his drive / coachability then you could convince yourself to take him over Young and Stroud. Takes a brave GM to do that though considering their relative production in College. -

Corral has accuracy issues on his deep balls - he literally changes his throwing motion to throw the ball deep. -

A good point well argued. -

I don't see Stroud, Young or Levis running for an 80 yard TD against LSU. You're got a serious hate boner against him, and I respect that, but please. -

Barno is going to eat as an OLB in the 3-4. -
I was going to say - isn't the aim of the game to win the SuperBowl?

Coaching Staff: Final Pieces (as of 2-23-23)
OldhamA replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the vast majority of College coaches, especially position coaches, are looking to get to the NFL. -

By separating it out you're trying to diminish what he is. As the total package he's the most athletically gifted QB in this Draft - great size, the biggest arm, the fastest and most elusive runner. He's a complete projection, but so is every QB. With regards to your "Can he run it? Yep. Cool." btw - the only reason why Hurts is worth spit in the NFL is because he's a threat with his legs. -

He's a Redshirt Senior. He's currently 23, he'll be 24 by the time the season starts. With regards to the other stuff, it depends which analyst you ask. -

He's going to be all about the interviews and comparing early season to late season tape. He'll have to show marked improvement as the season progressed and a driven / coachable attitude. He has a long way to go, but he has the best tools in the Draft at QB and he's already making plays despite being so raw. -

We traded two first round picks for Sean Gilbert (which I think turned into Champ Bailey and LaVar Arrington), so this doesn't even register. -
See I think he's the ideal OLB in a 3-4. Line him up and just ask him to rush the passer and / or drop into zone / man - simplify the game for him and let him use his athleticism off the edge. He doesn't have the instincts to play ILB imo.

I mean any team could do with a HOF NT.

PFF - What would it take for Panthers to trade up for #1 pick
OldhamA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Even if you're damn sure, good luck surrounding him with talent the next three years. -
He's thrown for 35k yards in his career with a 2-1 TD-INT ratio (with over 200TDs). So yeah, he's proven he's a pretty damn good NFL QB.
-
The same reason the Broncos cut bait with Cutler. There aren't 32 people currently walking the planet that can play QB in the NFL to a competent level. This whole 'retread' narrative is ridiculous. Carr is a proven commodity.
-
Nope, I loved Mahomes - was desperate for the Panthers to Draft him. I'd have been unhappy with Allen though, so your point stands.
-
I'm afraid not as they're unfounded opinions. Appreciate the reply though, we'll just have to agree to disagree on Carr's abilities.

The goofiest cornball coach in the NFL?
OldhamA replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only two teams I hate are the Broncos and the Patriots. I can't bring myself to dislike the Cards, they're just irrelevant to us in the grand scheme of things. -
Why is a four time Pro Bowler deemed a bum?
-
I'm ok with standing pat and taking a player that falls to #9. I don't think any QB in this Draft RIGHT NOW is worth trading multiple first round picks for.

Oh man, the shade thrown at Joe Brady here is brutal. -
A Top 10 pick has to be a sure thing in my book. None of these QBs are sure things, but you risk it for Stroud if he falls (he won't). Young is the best QB in this Draft, but he's literally smaller than Murray. Levis I don't get the hype about at all and Richardson needs to sit at least a year.
