At best you're looking at him developing into a competent NFL starting QB (a Jimmy G or a Tua), which isn't worth what we paid for him and just puts us in purgatory as a franchise.
-
He's a rookie that we traded the farm for that was meant to be pro ready and elevate those around him with his 'point guard' play. That's what we were sold after the moronic trade.
-
I mean just ask him, he'd probably do it for a nominal fee.

If there was a re draft when would Young be taken?
OldhamA replied to Shotgun's topic in Carolina Panthers
More 'pro ready' but unable to make half the throws an NFL QB needs to make. He'd go third round if they did a re-Draft based on the first 6 weeks of play and that's only cos someone would think they can fix him. -
Reich handing over playcalling to Brown
OldhamA replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ah, and so it begins. Next step is firing a position coach, then a co-ordinator. Reich is going to be one and done. Thanks god. -
They're both top 10 WRs in the NFL - frustratingly they're on the same bloody team. That (and a play calling genius) is what was required to turn Tua into a serviceable QB - it's not really the path I want to go down, there's too many moving parts to get there.
-
If he needs that much space to throw a routine 45 yard pass then we're screwed.
-
I mean we're 0-6, potentially heading to 0-17 with no QB and no first round pick next year. It's an F.

Brian Burns statline: 2 tackles, 0 sacks
OldhamA replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
He doesn't get double teamed (at least not to a noticeable degree, I'm sure some advanced stat somewhere will say he is). He occasionally gets chipped - but generally he's not given any special attention. -
We're that bad that we've made The Guardian, on a weekend where there was an NFL game in London: https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/oct/16/david-tepper-has-a-brilliant-financial-mind-running-the-panthers-though- Well played, Tepper. Well played.

Nice idea, except the D needs a lot of investment too.
-
His footwork is abysmal there - as I said, everything is an arm throw. His feet are pointing to the opposite bloody sideline ffs.

Brian Burns statline: 2 tackles, 0 sacks
OldhamA replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Burns: 3.5 sacks, 15 pressures, 5 TFL, 4 run stuffs YGM: 2.5 sacks, 11 pressures, 3 TFL, 1 run stuffs. I find that pretty hilarious, I'm sorry you don't. -
To 38 year old Brees. He'll never come close to prime Brees.
-
He throws from his tip toes, so every pass is an arm throw. In that highlight above he gets time to load up - you don't get that type of time / space in the NFL. Any QB on an NFL roster (past and present) could have hit that pass - it wasn't a difficult throw at all.

Brian Burns statline: 2 tackles, 0 sacks
OldhamA replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Doesn't Burns have as many sacks as YGM this season (or if not it's bloody close). A bloke many of you were ready to run out of town. Elite Edge Rushers are hard to find. Edge rushers like Burns are a dime a dozen. -
Everyone compares him to Brees (I say Brees-lite), but Brees was deadly accurate at every level. He didn't have a strong NFL arm, but he hit those deep shots with pinpoint accuracy when given 1-on-1 opportunities down the field. Young hasn't even hit the same area code and I don't think he'll ever be able to with his current technique.
-
It's not even that we ask him to go vertical, it's that he literally can't. Those plays are basically out of the playbook at this point.
-
It's the worst professional football team I've ever seen. 0-17 is very much on, we just have to navigate the next 3 games and then we get to be history makers (assuming a division rival doesn't gift us a win).
-
From Singleback, surprisingly. Then we went exclusively to Shotgun. I can't get over how badly he missed two 15+ outs (back to back) - like, he physically can't make that throw. How the fug was this guy drafted this highly?
-
It's so difficult to get an NFL franchise that he'll probably never sell, even though he's turned the Panthers into a laughing stock, but damn he's got to be considering it.
-
Good lord he was poo today.
-
Hurrah, the guy that shouldn't be playing scored a TD.
-
Time for the Canes to put Emory Williams in. TVD is dogshit.
-
They drafted Bryce Young #1 overall - they clearly don't know what they're doing.
