He's my hero if he actually said that.

I have to think that Stafford drew a 1st and a 3rd. That other 1st was so the Lions would eat Goff's contract. It's really that bad.

Framing QB discussions with Trucks versus Trailers
OldhamA replied to trueblade's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's unfortunately a very simplified way of looking at it, but that's Jeremiah and Bucky all over. -
So because someone disagrees with your assessment they're trolling? I absolutely get Tom Brady vibes from Jones. He'll never reach those levels, but there are comparisons to be made. The most amusing thing is people overlooking his ridiculous stats / success because it doesn't fit into their narrative. If he was an uber athlete with a huge arm they'd be falling over themselves to crown him. I'm aware that a lot of the NFL Draft is about projection. But that's also how you pick guys like Bortles, Ponder et al and overlook Wilson, Brees, Brady etc. When it all plays out I wouldn't be surprised if he goes in the first round.

The thing I take away from pre-Draft talk is how interesting it must be to be in the War Room. You look at the wide variety of opinions / comparisons on each player. You can't just dismiss that as some moron on a message board (you know who you are ) when the guy you're talking to is a 20 year NFL Scouting veteran. It's a wonder any picks get made on time.

Yes, missing on a QB was the only thing wrong with THAT Browns franchise.

Chin up, you might die before next season.

Stafford trade agreement might be in place before the Super Bowl

You weren't too far off - he was most likely to go to a team that's ready to win now. Obviously the Colts didn't want to match the Rams offer. -
Let's you know what we think of the 'franchise 4' QBs this year, huh?
-
That's two very different QBs.
-
He wouldn't have played over JT Daniels.
-
Did you see his press conference? I know I did. So was he really in front of like 3 people, or was he in front of hundreds of thousands?

Trask is injured.
-
LOL that's terrible from Daniel - just watch him walk into the endzone why don't you.
-
Like Brook, his deep ball isn't NFL quality. Albeit Brook is because he doesn't set his feet.
-
I missed the start of the game, is Mac Jones playing? I know he had an ankle injury and was doubtful.

It's where all the Deadspin staff who resigned went. -
Matt Rhule turning heads at the senior bowl...

He's a demanding Head Coach. He'll quickly weed out who's a professional here to improve as a football player and win games and who's just interested in the pay cheque. If he wins the players will love it. If he loses he'll be fired - it is what it is. -

He used to cover the San Francisco Giants I believe. -
That's a different kettle of fish. Put me infront of my 60 colleagues and I'll happily hold court. Put me infront of 300 strangers and I'd be shaking like a leaf.

They're going after the money that he's scheduled to get paid, not the money he's already made.

Matt Rhule continues to show why he's the right guy for the Panthers

Pretty much every guy we picked in 2020 was a plus athlete for their position. -
There's a difference between being intelligent and being able to process a football field. The lowdown on Newman is that he struggles when asked to throw between the numbers because he just doesn't have a great picture of what's happening. He had a bad week at the Senior Bowl.

Burrow has a slightly better arm and he's a little bit more athletic. In the modern NFL an old school pocket QB is a tough sell. We've seen them dominate for the last two decades, but none of the new breed - Watson / Mahomes / Jackson / Allen (potentially Herbert) - fit that mould. It's also a much easier transition to the NFL - Allen is the poster boy for it. He had two so-so years and broke out in year three. He survived those first two years because he had supreme physical gifts - namely that he could run for a first down with alarming regularity and he has a plus arm so could force a throw that wouldn't be on for most QBs. I can certainly understand the trepidation about drafting Jones - and no way I'd do it at #8 - but I just get the sense he's going to surprise a lot of people.
-
No thank you. He's a guy that people fall in love with physically (albeit his footwork is awful), but he doesn't have it mentally. He doesn't process the field at all.
