  1. Honestly, Jordan isn't even the best TE on the Canes roster. I like him as an H-Back guy. I think his ceiling is probably Jared Cook. The biggest knock for me is that he can't stay healthy - has never finished a full season in College.
  2. Oh my we're absolutely watching different games! At the end of the day, Rhule and Fitterer spent a week with him in Mobile. If we don't Draft him it's because they weren't impressed enough. I disagree wholeheartedly with this analysis though.
  3. So this is why I cringed when watching the Super Bowl. When it was clear that it was over, Romo went into a whole "well Mahomes will win a few more before he retires. He might not catch Brady though..." script. I'm sat there thinking "it's BLOODY hard to win the Super Bowl. It takes more than an exceptional QB." Marino never won one. Kelly never won one. Manning only won one (the second was won by the corpse of Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos defence). That's three first ballot HOFers right there.
  4. I think our feelings are summed up accurately by the following:
  5. That's exactly what I see in Jones. I wasn't high on him when I watched him play for Alabama - fell into the trap of "oh he's not that athletic / oh he's throwing to future first round picks" etc. Then when I analysed his tape I started seeing what Simms, Jenkins et al see. A guy that clearly processes the game at an elite rate (in just over a year of starts). Games are won and lost from the pocket - he can slide in it and can make all the throws you ask an NFL QB to make. That's all I needed to see. I don't agree that he's got a higher floor than others either - he's just as likely to bust as all the rest. He'll either stick in the NFL or he won't.
  6. LOL even their teammates think Jones is better than Tagovailoa. I don't know what the guy has done to piss so many people off.
  7. I mean there's even crazy talk on here where people are using legitimate NFL starters at Jones' 'floor' - like that's a bad thing. I've zero interest in trading away the future for a QB. We have too many holes. The only two definitely off the table at #8 are Wilson and Lawrence. Let's just be patient and see what happens.
  8. You were that blown away by his Pro Day? Seems to me like he's still the same enigma he was just a week ago.
  9. As of 9pm on Saturday 13 March the starting QBs for the Miami Dolphins and the Philadelphia Eagles, respectively.
  10. Mac Jones was backed up by a 5 star QB who he didn't give a sniff to all year.
  11. We shouldn't be 'desperate' for a QB. If there's a crazy run on 4 QBs before our pick we're in prime position to take an excellent player at another position of need (and boy do we have many), or to trade out of that pick and pick up a haul from a team that is desperate for said excellent player. If our strategy going into this Draft is "we need a QB in the first round, or we need to trade for Watson" then we're fuged as a franchise.
  12. I didn't watch his pro day, but he was noticeably worse in his one start last year. His footwork regressed massively. That's a huge worry. To me, Lance is a second round pick that you take and stash for a year or so. Let your QB Coach fix his footwork and hope he picks up NFL speed / concepts in practice.
  13. Unfortunately that's not the case. There's been countless athletic QBs who could throw the ball to the moon (from their knees) who never learned to read an NFL defence - despite being the first guy in the building and the last one out every week. It's a tool - much like guys are born with a million dollar arm, guys are born with the ability to quickly process what's going on in front of them and make the right decision. You can develop that skill, much like you can improve your arm strength, but there's limits to how much you can improve it.
  14. It's actually very similar. They're the Alabama of their level. Watch the games - people are criticising Jones for hitting wide open receivers. There's completions on Lance's tape where no-one is within 10 yards of the TE. Everyone is just projecting with Lance because he's more 'athletic'.
  15. Mac Jones had twice as many throws. That's the major, major problem with Lance. He's coming from a run first college offence, having played in a run first high school offence. Fair play to the scout who bets their career on him turning into an All Pro. He's a savant if it happens. I wouldn't want to make that call, there's just not enough data on the guy.
  16. It's a Salary Cap casualty. He tore his achilles in the post-season. He's not going to play this year. He makes a lot of money. Most of the NFL is going to watch him rehab from the sidelines I think - he can't help anyone this year.
  17. So what do you go by if you throw out stats and wins when scouting? It seems to me like you're omitting a big part of the equation.
  18. Dan Marino was a 59.4% thrower. The game has changed - you can't compare stats over the ages.
  19. Hopefully Fitterer has brought some of that Lockett / Moore / Metcalf magic with him.
  20. He'd have to lose some muscle mass, but he could absolutely be a deep threat at WR. He runs away from teams.
  21. It's not smoke and mirrors for any of those teams. Any team that's sending their GM and Head Coach to Fargo is investing a lot of resources (think how much both guys make per hour + travel costs). It's a legitimate trip - you HAVE to take a closer look at a prospect like Lance. Personally I think he's too much of a risk - had a great season, has a lot of the elite physical attributes you look for, but hasn't played in a year and has very limited experience throwing the football.
