The youngsters need help. It's why I'm just interested in getting the best player available. A starting CB, a starting FS, a starting DT, an upgrade at LB, an upgrade at DE - they're all on the table for me. Burns, Chinn, Brown, YGM and Jackson is a solid core, but 6 other players have to take the field every down.

Lance is no more talented than Darnold. They both have technical flaws to fix.

How many back-to-back winning seasons did he lead us to? I want a consistent QB that helps us win 10+ games a year. I don't want another rollercoaster if we can help it. Crazy, I know.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I don't want another Cam Newton. Darnold has had bad coaching for three years. I'd offer the Jets a 3rd / 4th round pick for him if they take Wilson. He's much more talented than any QB you could get with that pick.

We've honestly no idea who our Front Office likes. It's a brand new GM who's never drafted before and a HC that clearly favours athletes. This is going to be a very interesting Draft for us - hopefully last year wasn't a fluke.

Hence rolling the dice on Darnold with a third round pick. I'm down for that - he's much more talented than Mond / Newman / Mills / Trask.

Absolutely nobody made that connection. He was ultimately seen as a failure at Georgia.

I'm very much falling in love with the idea of trading down / taking an elite player at #8 (preferably OT, but we'll see how the Draft falls) and trading a 3/4th rounder for Darnold.

Someone needs to tell the 49ers that just because they're willing to trade three first round picks for a QB doesn't mean other teams will give them a first round pick for their mediocre starting QB.

It wasn't throwing 30 interceptions in the Playoffs against Arizona or not diving on the fumble in the Super Bowl, but yeah it was pretty brutal.

I can see your point about Lawrence - he's overrated, but his physical tools are ridiculous. He's also going to play for Urban Meyer - that dude will put him in the best system to succeed. He's hidden the flaws of his QBs for decades.

I have Lawrence - Wilson - Jones as the top three, with a clear gap between those guys and the rest. Fields - I just hate his throwing mechanics and how deliberate he is when making reads. I don't think that flies in the NFL. Lance - I mean, there's so little data on him (and he looked worse in his one game this year). I'm not opposed to taking either, but I'd like to trade down before picking them up - which probably isn't happening in this QB thirsty Draft.

My nightmare is chasing the QBs. The three that have separated themselves from the pack are going 1-2-3. I'd be happy with sitting at #8 and getting a franchise LT / matchup nightmare TE or trading down to acquire second day picks.

I'm not sure about that - the Jets will surely want an instant return on him if they're trading him. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a Draft day trade - we pick who we want / trade down in the first / second round and, if we don't get the QB we like, we pick up the phone to the Jets for Darnold in the third round. I think he has potential, but he's in the last year of his rookie contract so he QUICKLY becomes very expensive. You only have a year to work out whether he's the guy or not.

I'd love Elder to stay, but the fact he was benched at the end of the year for Hartsfield tells you what the coaching staff think of him. We weren't at the point of experimenting with any other position at that point - he's gone.

So literally nobody else wanted him, huh?

As we all should have learned with Rivers - as long as it's repeatable it doesn't matter. Fields is the one with the throwing motion that worries me.
