Panthers interviewing Morgan, others for Assistant GM job
OldhamA replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Damn do these guys ever take a day off? -
I'm not sure what they thought of Slater - I personally think he'll be a good LT in this league. I think the lower down the Draft you go the more comfortable you are with taking players with 'flaws'. i.e. if you're hesitant to take Slater at #8 overall due to his arm length, but a very comparable player is there at #70 then you jump all over that.

I wouldn't be surprised if they let Moton walk after this year.
-
Is it though? They don't differentiate between X, Y and Z receivers. He gets crushed in the height / weight section of his RAS score because there's 6'4" monsters roaming the NFL at WR.
-
It must be an off-field issue because the tape I've seen of his so far is outstanding. Exactly what you look for out of a 4-3 3Tech.
-
Wait, would I have to be 340lbs too? (he was 376lbs at the Senior Bowl btw)

Brady Christensen vs Bucs 1st rd pick Joe Tryon
OldhamA replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
FYI Keith Taylor plays in that game too (I know because he's just given up a DPI on BYU's first drive ) -

LOL the pre-game 'Cougar walk'. -
Brady Christensen vs Bucs 1st rd pick Joe Tryon

I personally think the Bucs had a terrible Draft - albeit it's not going to bite them for a number of years as that roster is loaded. -
For what they gave up for him he has to be an upper echelon NFL starter and quickly.
-
And three first rounders for a guy that has approx. 300 College throws makes sense?
-
Apparently, if you believe the stories coming out of Santa Clara, the 49ers didn't actually know they were taking Lance until Monday. Which sounds terrifying as they traded three first round picks for a Draft slot without a name in mind.
-
That's what I'm saying - they traded down to #52 and saw Jenkins, Eichenberg, Little, and Cosmi taken off the board. We traded down again (I quite liked JOK, but whatever) to #59 and saw Radunz taken off the board too. Obviously Jalen Mayfield was taken off the board at #68 and suddenly we traded up to take Christensen at #70. Which is why I wonder if they panicked and traded up - and I'd love to know how they graded all of the guys that were taken between #39 and #70. I suspect this is the 'gut punch' moment Fitterer referenced in the post-Draft press conference.

Matt Rhule on Sam Darnold and the QB Situation
OldhamA replied to methodtoll's topic in Carolina Panthers
No, the one where Rhule was sat in a hotel at the Combine and a Comms staffer showed him Newton's 'respect' IG post. Rhule has a pretty good poker face, but you could see he was done with Newton at that point. -
Well on the FA market Mitch Trubisky signed a 1 year, $2.5m contract with a team that (bar injury) he has ZERO chance of winning the starting job on. Darnold was traded for by the Panhters and we weren't his only suitors. Not to mention the Jets GM said he'd have stuck with Darnold is they didn't have the 2nd overall pick and wanted Wilson (he had no reason to say that). Evidently the NFL has spoken on both players.
-
What competition would you have brought into the QB room this offseason?
-
How come people throw Steve Smith comparisons around with every 5'9" receiver? I never hear people throw around Randy Moss comparisons for... well, anyone. Smith is in that same rarefied air for mine - just a unique, brilliant player.
-
....UNC fan perchance?

Matt Rhule on Sam Darnold and the QB Situation
OldhamA replied to methodtoll's topic in Carolina Panthers
He had every intention of coaching Newton. After that IG post though he was done. -
It fundamentally changes the rules of the game.
-
Tampa Bay have two Kickers that are better than anything we have. I'm not sure why we didn't address the position this offseason.
-
Because Darnold is much better than Trubisky.
