  1. Wow Zane looked like me playing Retro bowl. Doink! It’s good!
  2. It’s the same 5 folks saying the same thing in every thread. Come on folks, take a break he will be here for this year and more than likely next year too. I am willing to let the session play out, hope that they improve the Oline in the offseason and see what progress Sam makes from now until the end of next year. I have trouble making declarations and speaking of absolutes when he is only 6 games in and the team has won half of them with 11 games still to go.
  3. 28-13 Panthers. Why? ‘Cause I said so!
  4. Rhule was the local sports station here in Charlotte before the season started and stated that he was just trying this year to get the most out Sam and hopes to show the most progress in his second year. I don’t expect any change at that position unless something drastic happens, or at the end of next year.
  5. The Dolphins still take him out of the game and let the backup come in for a couple of snaps. If Deshaun was there would they still do that?? Hell no they wouldn’t. That tells me everything that I need to know about Tua. If Tua was a franchise QB then the Dolphins would not be considering Deshaun. If the Panthers chase Tua and bring him in to be the starting QB, then I will start having serious doubts about the ability of this staff to evaluate talent.
  6. Yep, the Vikings went into the game with him as a target. He played very well with all things considered.
  7. I know and in reality we tried to be bold and get Matt Stafford, but he brushed the Panthers off. Free Agents will need to want to come here.
  8. QBR doesn’t include drops by the receivers. We have three receivers in the top ten of all players that have the most drops. https://scores.nbcsports.com/fb/leaders.asp?type=Receiving&range=NFL&rank=232
  9. I think that they are going to have no other choice. It may allow for a few successful deep passes if they can get the running game going and get the safeties to move down. Who knows, but the Panthers definitely need to balance it a bit more.
  10. I could be wrong but I think that the idea will be to run to setup the pass. Apparently passing it 40 times a game ain’t working.
  11. I know and in my humble opinion Sam was like 6th down on the list of issues from yesterdays game. My list would be Drops OC Defense Fumbles HC not communicating to OC to run the ball more Sam
  12. I agree and I am not a Darnold apologist. I think that the guy played a decent game other than the Int. The timeout was called because Erickson didn’t know where to lineup and the clock was running out. Sam didn’t realize that you cannot call back to back timeouts. The main issue with this team is the sub par play of the Oline, followed by Darnolds 3 Ints last week in one game. Other than that he has played almost exactly as I expected that he would. 23 years old, first year in the system, playing behind a shitty oline and a OC that goes by down and distance instead of with the flow of the game while countering what the defense is doing.
  13. I was listening to Kyle Bailey this afternoon and he had Smitty on. Smitty said that he was in the owner’s suite with Tepper yesterday around the same time that they took that picture with him. Today during the interview he was saying nearly the exact same thing that Matt Rhule was saying today. He said that the span there should not be passing the ball as much and should run more than they are. This would help the defense and Sam Darnold at the same time. Me thinks that Matt Rhules awakening may have been influenced somewhat by Tepper and some of the conversations that were had during the game in that owners suite. https://omny.fm/shows/the-kyle-bailey-show-podcast/playlists/podcast/embed?style=cover
  14. This is another thing that I wish he would not do. Just do it and don’t explain it to the fans. Actually, he doesn’t owe the fans any explanation at all. As a fan I am glad that he does, but he is setting himself up for a follow up explanation of what he says that the team is going to do doesn’t work. Some times the honesty just adds more pressure. This is one of the reasons that Fox and Rivera didn’t say sh!t and always uttered the same clichés in “It is what it is” , “Missed opportunities” and “The other team gets paid to make plays too”.
  15. This is what I’ve been thinking also. I was dumbstruck when they went away from the run yesterday while Chuba was getting 5 yards a carry. If your offense is horrible at pass blocking, then they should be put in a position where they can attack the defense, instead of losing quickly when the QB drops back. This should help set up play action if they can pass out of the same formation that they use when running. When running more this may allow the defense to rest while the offense churns up the clock. They may not be a great zone blocking team, but it makes sense if they want to try and control the game. I don’t think that they should make this their offense after this year, but it may be the only option that works with the current Oline.
