What did we actually gain with the trading down
SOJA replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Unless we go QB in round 1 next year you can bet your bottom dollar we are going to try to trade back in round 1 next year, esp if we are not picking in the top ten again. Again Fitts probably has ~15 round one grades per year but loads of round 2/3 grades. Esp missing our second next year we will look to recoup capital -

Again the Panthers had Cosmi, Little and Christensen all VERY closely ranked on their board per John Ellis' source, probably all with a day 2/roud 2 grade. To fall back and still get Marshall and Christensen and the additional bonus of a untapped potential at TE? That's an absolute win. Further the Houston trade was highway robbery. -
A moment of appreciation for Scott Fitterer… we have a GM
SOJA replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yea we are finally an analytically forward thinking team. It feels good man -
Fair, I disagree in that I think the drop from Eichenberg/Cosmi to Christensen is negligible and Christensen tested off the charts in terms of RAS.

First off this was the best draft in Panthers history Second, who is this mystery anchor left tackle in the second you keep mentioning

Love Jaycee Horn and he was third on my board, but...
SOJA replied to Proudiddy's topic in Carolina Panthers
totally agree. Fields was number two overall on my board though -

Basically if Fields becomes Deshaun Watson we become the new bears -
yea Moore is a luxury pick but he's damn good, won't be mad with him at all

Here’s a little nugget for your Friday. The Stanford double-dip.
SOJA replied to Bronn's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd be shocked if we traded up, I think a trade down is highly likely. I bet we are eyeing Richie Grant hard -
I'd LOVE to have Sherman mentor Horn. It would be a match made in heaven imo
-
I love Jacee Horn the player. I'm ecstatic he is a Panther. I also can believe that both Justin Fields and Rashawn Slater were better choices for us.

I think we trade down a couple spots in the second and draft Dillon Radunz and pick up a third rounder next year. We certainly take Richie Grant IF he is available in the third.

Tepper wanted Fields. Let his guys make the football decisions
SOJA replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Remember when the whole "well if Teddy sucks we will end up with Trevor Lawrence or Justin Fields!" Talk there was last year? Now it's, "Well if Darnold sucks we'll wind up with Howell" FWIW I've watched a lot of Howell and I'm not 100% convinced he is a better prospect than Fields -

black writing is so vogue but this is the quote that interests me, care to elaborate on those reasons I'm honestly curious "We didn’t go after Fields for numerous reasons" -

this. I would have picked Fields but it's good that Tepper is letting the football guys run the show. We don't want Jerry 2.0 -
I'm going to lol so hard if they trade away a ton of draft capital for a CB that's probably not that much better than one they could have gotten in the late first
-
Rogers isn't coming here and even if he wanted to I'd be terrified he'd drop it all at any moment to do Jeopardy which apparently he seriously views as his next career move
-
Denver is probably not going to, Ben Allbright who is very well connected has said as much and they just traded for Teddy NE is definitely a possibility. They're going to have to find a team willing to trade though. Atlanta will want a ton. Cinny seems content. Miami traded back up already. Detroit is an obvious possibility but they are probably going to have Waddle or Devonta Smith there at 7 and they have the worst WR corps in the NFL so it's going to again take a ransom for them to move. I really think Fields is going to fall to 8
-
YES Let's rewind the clocks to the day we traded for Darnold. There was a lot of rumblings from NFL insiders (not the media who keep touting Mac Jones) that the 9ers traded up for Fields/Lance and the Falcons were going to take the other prospect. Since then more stuff has leaked that the Falcons might love Pitts, etc. If you're in the Panthers you're stuck with either Teddy. Or waiting to trade for Darnold until the Jets can hold you up for a King's Ransom bc they KNOW you have no other options.

Patriots "talked" to Falcons about trading for #4 pick (Fields)
SOJA replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
I actually completely agree with this. It makes sense. Or the 9ers really are that dumb and traded up for Mac Jones -
With the draft approaching I have one question.
SOJA replied to Catsfan69's topic in Carolina Panthers
100% I'll give you a reason. 8 is around the time where they've burned enough time into the program that they need their first break. Were surround by teams with major fanbases like the Broncos and Cowboys, no WAY they break for commercial after us. Before us, Detroit has a pretty good shot but they'll play the angle of new regimen to build the suspense -
Maintaining perspective on draft day
SOJA replied to TheMostInterestingMan's topic in Carolina Panthers
except when we took Brian Burns, we all knew that was going to be a home fuging run. or at least the smart ones did -
There is a lot of smoke around the Panthers and Horn right now That makes me believe we are actually trying to get someone to trade up with us for someone who really wants him i.e. Dallas

can't wait for the announcement we've drafted Fields
