I posted this in another thread: We are probably going to have to trade up to GUARANTEE a QB is the pick now, however with the Stafford trade I think it is more likely Lance falls to 8. Who do I think we might trade with? The Bengals at 5 are VERY interesting. Per this draft chart: https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp The capital to move up from 8 to 5 isn't that bad. It would take basically 8th overall, a third and fourth rounder. Let's say the Panthers bet on being better next year, so we trade: 8th, third this year, and a future fourth for 5. Here's why this is interesting. Let's assume no one bites on the Jets mega offer and they take Wilson at 2. The Dolphins again will want a king's ransom. Again if no one bites they're forced to take the guy they want (Devonta) at 3. Falcons are interesting because I really have no idea what they do but it is conceivable they DONT go QB because Matt Ryan's deal is an absolute albatross and the worst I've ever seen. Suddenly, the fifth pick has Fields and Lance (pick your player). Panthers give the Bengals a chance to still get Sewell/Slater at 8 more than the Colts or 9ers would be able to provide. Also you can bet your bottom dollar Fitts is trading back in the second round in this scenario above to reaquire some of the capital it took to move up to 5. Let's say with the WFT who is going to be itching to take their "Greg Little, Everrette Brown" first rounder who is in the second all of a sudden.

Radunz in the second might be a way to fix LT

if we do that I am done

Giving up Burns is too much imo. I feel very very highly of Burns enough so to say he would go top 5 overall in an NFL draft of all eligible non QB players.
-
yea the more I think about it the more I think they could still take one. Goff's deal is basically two years and further the Colts and 9ers would probably jump to 7 to leap frog us to get a QB Unfortunately I think we still have to trade up to GUARANTEE a QB

So the Rams partially had to do this to make their cap work and Goff's contract (While bad, is basically a two year deal) with a reasonable out in the second year with a dead hit of 15 million. I still think the Lions will wait a year to take a QB. They will give Goff his chance this year, if he sucks this year they will take one next year. Basically this is amazing news as the Lions almost certainly aren't using 7 on QB now

In your scenario above is Slater available because that's who I draft. At least you solidfy left tackle. Don't get me wrong this is the absolute nightmare scenario that is looking more and more real daily. There is a VERY real chance all four QB prospects are gone by 8 and we miss out on Watson. I think it's important to remember Fitts press conference. He says there are usually 14-16 guys in every draft who are basically tier 1. After that there is no discernable drop in talent from 16-50 or something in that neighborhood. I don't think he would want to give up a tier one player. Now if we were picking like 18 and all of them were gone I could buy into a trade like that for sure. Tepper wants a QB, unless Rhule/Fitts sell him on one of these secondary guys Jones, Newman, etc. there is no way to guarantee one of them is available in rotund 2. So we're left with two scenarios: we draft Jones at 8 (I might honestly quit this team) or we trade up to #2 or #3 overall. I am actively willing scenario two into the universe.
-
The only QB I *might* consider outside of the top 4 is Jamie Newman in the second round.
-
Mac Jones is a less athletic Andy Dalton who played with arguably the greatest offensive weapons in college football history with a stout o-line. People say that LSU offense was transcendent, well that's because Burrow could sling the rock. Jones basically played with an offense full of first rounders not to mention the Heisman winner at W fuging R of all positions. No to Mac Jones before the 4th round and at that point you're just drafting Will Grier.

...but ...but ..but the Huddle assured me there was no way all top 4 QBs were gone by 8 and that win against WFT didn't really matter!

I trust this man fwiw

Remember how we fired Rivera, we handled it with class, and it was great. No bridges burned. We did Cam not much better than we did Smitty or Josh.
-
Again for the umpteenth time it's OK to move on from Cam (not what I would have done but whatever) You move on from the guy who was your franchise and consisently CARRIED you very differently from a single tweet saying "thanks #1" like he was a WR who caught a big third down from us in 2018.
-
Which part are you referring to because rhule saying he was excited to roll with cam and the released with a single picture is literally how it happened? I know there is more to the story, i.e. things Cam did that haven't/might never come out, but Cam carried this franchise FOR YEARS. And from the Panthers twitter account you would have thought he was an average special teamer.

Todd McShay is CONVINCED we will move on from Teddy

And if we don't get Deshaun you can bet your bottom dollar there will be a LOT of talks between the Panthers and Jets/Dolphins. If the Dolphins don't get Deshaun I could see them doing a deal of 3 for 8 plus other stuff. They would likely still get the same player at 8 they wanted at 3 tbh. -
admittedly I haven't really been on twitter for like a day (which is like missing an entire decade of news cycle apparently) but a quick glance shows like there is some drama between Sheena and John Ellis. Wtf is going on lol Also this is 100% not fuging suprising. Many of us last year blasted the franchise for how they handled Cam's release. The Panthers handled firing Rivera with class and respect. Cam got lied to, cut and released with a picture. That isn't how you release your franchise. I'm going to be so fuging mad all over again if that prevents us from getting Watson
-
Let's say you are Deshaun Watson, bias aside, where do you want to go?
SOJA replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
Either MIA or SF Bears seem like a good choice but they are a low key wonky franchise that seems to mishandle some of their stars. I just despise Denver so much I can not be rational about them, to me I think they're overrated -
Deshaun WATSON Officially Requests Trade from Texans
SOJA replied to ncstatekwi's topic in Carolina Panthers
Where is the dude who told me a few days ago on here that Watson wouldn't request to be traded lol -
This would be my worst case scenario as we would likely end up....right back in the same place next offseason
-
Mac Jones reminds me of a less athletic Andy Dalton Hard pass

Probably because they are offering their first rounder. Good for them. Let's all pray we don't get into a bidding war.
