Does anyone actually think Bryce will actually be good?
SOJA replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was a CJ stroud guy predraft so I admit I am biased But I don't think we can evaluate him fully yet after last year. It was just a giant clusterfug from ownership, to the GM, to coaching to personnel both offensive line and WR/TE That being said I feel like Bryce has a very narrow band in which he can become a top 10 NFL QB. It's not impossible, but things have to be pretty much perfect around him. I say this because he is never going to be a QB that can elude or escape NFL pass rushers outside of maybe once a game AND his arm strength is average to below average. -
good summary. Further we had a rookie QB who needed a strong system around him to succeed. He is not a Cam or Anthony Richardson type player that could make things happen with his legs when the offense was a clusterfug

where are you going ? Been to berlin and munich before but looking to schedule another trip to germany with my wife in the future

very glad we get chicago early while they are still working out their kinks because by seasons end that team might be dangerous

Another Reason The Panthers May have Traded Up To Get Legette
SOJA replied to SaltAndPepper's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm going to toot my own horn, I called this when the trade happened. made too much sense -
In order for me to have faith in Bryce moving forward he will have to prove on more weeks than not that he is capable of elevating the talent around him and be the reason we win games. He showed that in the GB game last year, flashed it at other times. Not impossible but he has a very narrow road to success

Where would the Panthers be if they sat Bryce Young last season?

Likely in a very similar position as we are now. I could see us winning a game or two more. -
fwiw the patriots were going to draft XL if we didn't source:

Some Media Panthers Draft Grades & Some Thoughts
SOJA replied to TD alt's topic in Carolina Panthers
One thing I keep coming back to is: edge is a very difficult position to find quality players at. It's entirely possible outside of the top three guys we had all of the other edges rated very low. overdrafting one of them is how you get DJ Johnson -
Oh I thought he meant Roman Wilson lol
-
very fair and would have been a good choice with your draft
-
that's fair and that's my point, this is actually pretty hard to do in real time! It's easy for people to be negative of the GMs in hindsight but when you actually go through the process yourself it gets much harder
-
figured it out: this guy just s.hit his pants
-
with all the negativity right now, I think a fun exercise would be to see if you were GM who would you have picked. It's too complicated to go back through all the trades so let's just pretend those are set in stone. Here's how I would have done it: This will be fun to bump in a year when I am completely wrong about all of this. FWIW this is not a complaining thread it's more of an exercise to show that for all of you negativity it's actually really hard to nail drafts in real time. 32- Ladd 46- AD Mitchell 72- Christian Haynes 101- Theo Johnson 157- Caelen Carson 200- Cedric Johnson 240- Beau Brade

And I may end my panthers fandom if we end up drafting Ewers. He has a LONG way to go to be worthy of a first round pick much less a top 5 selection
-
Looks rough right now, I highly suspect Beck will be the consensus 1 by seasons end, Shadeur will go round 1. The real question is who is the riser? Every year someone has an astrnomical rise: a few that come to mind recently are Jayden Daniels, Joe Burrow and even Kenny Pickett to an extent. Who is that guy next year

The Panthers keep making the same mistakes under new GM.
SOJA replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree with you there, and I think passing on Center is one reason I ding this draft. We really need to draft and develop a guy and just keep kicking the can down the road -

SOJA replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
fair question and I think the XL selection warrants probably it's own thread but I think they are trying to build a complimentary WR room. I really, really liked Ladd but his skill set somewhat redundant with what we already have. In terms of the future it's harder to find true "x" WRs than it is, slot guys -
Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1
SOJA replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
yea I totally agree. The trade is worth it alone for the financial considerations given what WRs make nowadays. Further if we left this draft without a WR we felt good about it would be an F -
WAYY too early Top 53 Man Roster Depth Chart
SOJA replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
Could use another CB- Gilmore on a one year deal makes so much sense Could use another edge rusher, although I highly anticipate when we draft ~top3 next year we will be drafting one Center is obviously a position of concern, not because Corbett scares me from a talent perspective but his injuries do -
Panthers Select Michael Barrett, LB, Michigan Pick 240, Round 7
SOJA replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
good character guy, will contribute on specials teams, hopefully he has an AJ Klein esque career for us, that would be an absolute win in the 7th round -

Corey Lindsey is currently the most expensive center in the NFL at 12.5m per year that would equal the..... approximately the 27th most expensive WR in the league LMAO
