  1. I assure you Deshaun intends to collect all $146,540,000. Not if the owners don't let it. Players rights collectively are defined by the CBA which was ratified about a year ago, and individually by their respective contracts. Neither of those grant DW any sort of special "power" to "wield" over ownership or the NFL. If the owners hold players to their contracts nothing changes.
  2. According to Spotrac the remaining 5-years left on his contract are worth $146,540,000...unless he pulls a sudden retirement I'd expect he would earn all of it. Can they? Not if ownership chooses not to let them do so...there's those pesky contracts you know The NFL isn't other sports and their CBA is by far the strongest of all sports --- I am certain the NFL owners do not want to see their league disappear into the same rathole the NBA has fallen into.
  3. He didn't demand anything, nor did he go MIA, or create a public spectacle, etc...what he did was ask nicely and conduct himself like a gentleman at all times. I wish you would quit characterizing JJ Watt as a "whiny little bitch", he's a standup guy. “I have sat down with the McNair family and I have asked them for my release, and we have mutually agreed to part ways at this time,” he said in a video posted to Twitter. “I’m excited and looking forward to a new opportunity.” Great video here:
  4. I'm not aware of Watt ever going MIA and refusing to communicate with the team or demanding a trade or threatening to hold out or pitching a hissy fit... ...from what I remember he always handled himself like a gentleman.
  5. It's not so much about how his cash levels now -- but rather, the $146,540,000 that hangs in the balance. A guy with billions isn't overly motivated by earning another $147M...a guy with $34M is. Loyalty isn't a factor --- the terms of the contract spell out the obligations on both sides. Why would superstars want to start "flexing on owners"? I suspect NFL owners and Roger Goodell have a plan to keep things orderly vs. the shitshow that is now happening in the NBA. The Texans traded DeAndre Hopkins in March/2020...DW signed his new deal in Sept/2020...if he didn't "know" then he and his agent are both dumbasses. Watson has turned into a dumpster fire! Sure appears the team intends to stick with him...
  6. If the Texans do decide to trade Watson what are the Eagles chances in the derby?
  7. The owner ........ Sounds good. And who does Rhule report to?
  8. Nor has Watson said a single public word about "sitting out" but supposedly it's a given.
  9. I thought the premise was that Tepper had put "football people" into place to handle these sorts of things? I have yet to hear or see "Fitterer" and "Deshaun Watson" used in the same sentence, paragraph, conversation, or article... ...only Tepper. (which makes perfect sense)
  10. Interesting observations. Spot on re: Houston front office. As for Tepper...sure seems like his name is the only one we ever hear as it relates to the Deshaun Watson situation... ...is Tepper the lead man on this deal?
  11. Personally I thought they'd hang onto him for 2020 but I have no problems with how the situation played out, nor with how Rhule did or didn't handle it. There are however many who feel like Cam got done wrong. The NFL is a big-boy league... ...Deshaun needs to set hurt feelings aside and put on his big-boy pants and get back to work making the Texans into a winner.
  12. If they don't intend to trade him doesn't seem they would have reason to care...
  13. Those gymnastics rival the Produnova vault otherwise known as the "Vault of Death"... ...well done!
  14. He doesn't have $50 million. He sure can do anything he wants right now, no doubt...but if he wants to collect the balance due from his contract ($146,540,000) he's going to have to show up and play football. NFL teams absolutely cannot "rip up a contract and part with a player any time they want"...total B.S.. Players absolutely retain the right to breach their contract at any time --- and when they do their pay stops, as well as all other benefits. Most NFL contracts are really quite simple, if the players don't like them they shouldn't sign them.
  15. >>Everyone wanted to hear what Rhule had to say on the matter, and he wasted no time addressing it. "I know there will be a lot of questions about Cam (Newton). My son keeps calling me asking me questions, so I figured I'd address that right off the bat," Rhule said. "From my perspective, I'm unbelievably excited to get to work with Cam. Coming from the outside, you kind of know as a fan, but just on a personal note getting to know him, he is a diligent guy. He's working so hard both in Atlanta and in Carolina to get himself healthy. You meet him, he's this massive man, impressive man, and I've really enjoyed getting to know him. I've enjoyed getting to sit down in the cafeteria when he comes by, sit down in my office. I think he's doing a great job. For me, the way he balances being a great father, the way he balances being a great quarterback, and the things he's done in the community are really, really important. I want to make sure I say that. I'm excited to get him healthy. Obviously, that's the number one goal for us. He's doing a great job of doing his part. We have to make sure we're doing our part as we try to get him healthy for the 2020 season." OK then. Certainly a strong statement in support of the former NFL MVP.<<
  16. Where is this rhetoric coming from? It is confirmed that the owner took DW to dinner and solicited his opinion/s on a variety of things --- DW was allowed to provide input. The team is not obligated to conduct business in a manner DW deems to be proper... ...but DW is obligated to live up to the terms of his contract with the Texans, hurt feelings or otherwise. The truth of this situation has been blown so far out of proportion it's really kind of amazing.
  17. On the slim chance Watson did end up in Charlotte... ...if Rhule or Tepper hurt DW's feelings is he going to pout and sulk and become a locker-room cancer and demand to go elsewhere?
  18. Not in the least. Not really. Nobody is trying to "push him around"...but rather, the Texans want him to live up to the terms of the $156MM contract extension which he agreed to --- hurt feelings is not a legal excuse which allows him to breach the contract.
  19. Happily! Send the paperwork.. In that scenario who does the GM report to?
  20. Watson is not coming to Charlotte... ...given that truth --- what do suggest is is the proper course of action to staff-up the QB position?
  21. Yes. Watson has not sat-out a single day...nor do I expect he will. Hurt feelings are no reason to take a pass on $146,540,000.
