  1. Oh, yeah... ...that cockeyed pablum didn't/doesn't warrant a response. (beer given for the Seinfeld notation)
  2. Are you old enough to remember the show called Seinfeld? What was your question?
  3. In the last 50-years there have been 10 QB's drafted at #3. The majority have been busts and only 2 ever started more than 50-games and produced an overall winning record (Matt Ryan & Steve McNair).
  4. We all want him to succeed. You seem to believe anyone not in your little camp of unbridled-cockeyed-optimists is by default looking for Sam to fail... ...this just isn't the case. The odds are heavily stacked against Sam and acknowledging such is OK.
  5. Conversely... ...what did he ever do to earn your unbridled cockeyed optimism?
  6. So if he plays like a rookie this year the team goes 7-10 or 6-11 will they go ahead and extend him before next year? Can't have a QB playing on the last year of his deal after all, that would be bad for his "confidence"... What will Sam need to do in order to receive a new deal before the beginning of next season?
  7. It really is that simple. How many games do you think he has to win in order to be retained?
  8. Not much...at all. ...your trying to pump him up just makes you look dumb. More to the point though, you sound like a whiny five year old whose parents just took away their toys. Now you're gonna hold your breath till you turn blue because I'LL SHOW THEM!!! ...anybody with even minimal football knowledge knows that PJ Walker isn't. "Open competition" is the stupidest suggestion I've seen in a long time. Bottom line though? Newton is gone. His story here should have ended better but it didn't, and that's reality for most players in the NFL. Get over it. Way to tell 'em how it is Daddy...
  9. I was simply inquiring about CP's statement on the "twitter feed/not a fan of Darnold", etc... ...don't blame it on me.
  10. I seem to remember the familiarity/chemistry between Sam and Robbie being listed as a key-positive in support of the Darnold deal? Does Robbie have some kind of beef with Sam?
  11. No doubt, very very "small"... How about some specifics on Sam? Apparently he can "sling it"... ...what else?
  12. So it's really as simple as a coin flip? There's no proper framework/precedent you can think of which could allow for an evaluation process that might tilt the odds in the favor of Tepper & Co??
  13. I have, they don't exist. Clearly your myopia doesn't allow for rational analysis/dialogue as the discussion is currently framed so let's change gears and you take the lead... ...what do you believe to be a proper framework which would allow for logical/effective analysis of Sam's forward looking prospects? What are the specifics of, and basis (historical comps) for, your proposed framework?
  14. Despite your consternation, all are legit comps. Which QB's do you suggest offer a proper comp/precedent?
  15. All were #3 picks who started year-1 on bad teams "with receivers with the dropsies, with horrific coaching, no run game"... ...and all of them... ..."then DIDN'T turn his career around".
  16. How many hundreds of $millions$ will be incinerated before this iteration folds? It's just a matter of when...
  17. Sure thing...all #3 picks just like Sam. Blake Bortles (#3 in 2014) -- after JAX went to LA in 2019 and played a handful of snaps (threw 2 passes) in mop-up duty in 3 games. Out of the league in 2020. Appears to have signed a 1-year deal with the Packers going into 2021. 24-49 career record as a starter. Joey Harrington (#3 in 2002) -- played out rookie year in DET, was 21-37 as a starter. Following 2 seasons started 21 games in MIA and ATL and went 8-13. 26-50 overall as a starter, career was 6-years. Akili Smith (#3 in 1999) -- 3-14 as a starter in CIN, never made it to another team after rookie deal. Heath Schuler (#3 in 1994) -- 4-9 as a starter for the Redskins. Interestingly, after 3-seasons he cast aside and traded to NOR where he went 4-5 as a starter. Out of the league after 4-seasons. The Opposite: Matt Ryan (#3 in 2008) -- Matt inherited a team that had gone 4-12 & 7-9 in 2007 & 2006 respectively. Opened his career with an 11-5 record thereby locking up Offensive Rookie of the Year. Followed that up with 4 more winning seasons (5 consecutive) and as a starter was 56-22 (reg. season) in that time frame.
  18. Who does he report to? Any confirmation yet from inside on that?
  19. Reminds me of when Sandy Weill fired Jamie Dimon (his "tag along") in order to stop an internal turf war as Travelers and Citigroup were being merged... ...turned out to be the worst decision of Sandy's career. Something seems to be amiss...
  20. Probably not. Might have just wanted to get back into the college game. Or may have wanted a change of scenery. Joe Person went on the Bailey show today and was quoted from an article as saying "he left under pressure a few weeks ago to due to differences with employees/officials throughout the organization"... ...Joe further went on to say "it was an accumulation of things...some personality differences with folks in the building, etc"... ...and then he explained that the guy had been with Rhule at Albright, Temple and Baylor. Seems like odd personnel-related kernels are consistently popping these days... ...what are your "insiders" whispering to you about it? Trouble in paradise?
  21. Could have fooled me. Sure you can. You might not like it but you darn sure can. Can't remember who but someone in this thread took the position that Derek Carr was "broken" due to "battle damage"...let's just assume he was a 10 on a scale of 1-10 for broken/battle-damage. Where is Sam on Broken/Battle-Damaged Scale?
  22. Because he didn't play. You are correct....staved off an 0'fer. I too hope he can put it together and have no interest in playing an "I told you so" card... ...I'm simply trying to understand the precedent/logic behind the overwhelming cockeyed optimism. So far the logic seems to hinge on: 1. Was a #3 pick. 2. Jets suck. 3. Sam can "sling it". As for the precedent, doesn't seem to exist.
  23. He never started a game his rookie year and only ever played in 1... ...doesn't count -- and you know it.
