5 Timid Predictions for the Carolina Panthers 2021
SizzleBuzz replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
1. Sam will be handed the starting job on a silver platter with no competition (lest his fragile psyche be further bruised). 2. Sam may or may not be successful. 3. If Sam is successful Sizzle will acknowledge his success and be pleased for him and the team. -
Tepper owns no developable land in downtown Charlotte. Your imagination has gotten the best of you. FYI, if there was going to be a deal for the Charlotte Pipe & Foundry land it would have already happened. PS...wasn't there a lot of commentary about "developing" the old Eastland Mall site & surrounds for the soccer team? Where does that stand? Talk is cheap...

Pop into Waze and plan the same trip on Sunday morning... ...you know, when folks are actually going to an NFL game [now + 3 different times on Sunday] {obviously some stadium traffic on game day would change the math but the original poster intimated that Carowinds is like 38 miles from the current stadium}
-
Nonsense. Carowinds operates just fine (despite all your imagined headwinds) and they do sell alcohol. Everything in life is negotiable and both states would have every incentive to negotiate an attractive operating environment for Mr. Tepper. It's certainly not probable but it's definitely possible.

There would obviously be improvements made in terms if direct ingress/egress to the property and yes, given the direct access to the interstate system I do believe it would be way easier than departing the gridlock that takes place after every Panthers game. Would you like to take a shot at re-writing your 2nd paragraph? As it currently stands makes no sense at all...

The Carowinds site is a short 14 minute drive from Panthers Stadium and getting in/out would be easier for just about everyone...and it also plays well to the 2-states/1-team theme in that the site straddles the NC/SC border. Most of the infrastructure at Carowinds is old and tired and has been significantly if not fully depreciated...and the site would certainly be less expensive than the Charlotte Pipe & Foundry land (on a per acre basis anyway). Personally I like have the stadium in town as well but clearly Tepper is hankering for a new one and it would seem he is going to consider all options in the process. NOTE: This isn't my idea per se, a while back some other poster on this site suggested and I just happen to think his suggestion is a good one...would credit him if I could remember who said it!

No. As for why... ...NFL is conducting a "bidding" process and the host city will have to pay to secure it --- less than no interest.

I only recently learned of it as a byproduct of reading up on the Murdaugh situation down in Hampton County, SC. I do agree that the blogger is anything but an arms-length independent reporter presenting stories in a fair & balanced manner... ...but it doesn't change the facts that (a) the financial package given to a multi-billionaire who doesn't need to money is now a serious political hot potato in the State of SC, and (b) said package is already off the rails from a financial perspective. It's a real story...

Point misser extraordinaire... ...this isn't about the "stadium" (as it goes to the physical structure)... ...it's about the fans/vibe/uncomfortability-factor... Panthers Stadium is a beautiful facility and gives up nothing across the league as it goes to the actual venue --- sure, there are fancier places...but none offer a better overall experience from an amenities perspective...

How we feeling about this? The "no injuries" that is...

Sam Darnold comes in at No. 19 in Chris Simms' Quarterback rankings
SizzleBuzz replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Saints were in the middle of a potential title run and Hill had years in Payton's system while Winston only had a number of weeks. It will be interesting to see what 2021 brings but Payton has two (2) starter-caliber NFL QB's, and, a unique opportunity to put both on the field at the same time on a regular basis... ...said strategy hinges on Jameis being under center and Taysom being the wildcat... -

Both true statements. Today about 4pm on the local ESPN Yarbro/Rosinski/Cotton radio show former Panthers defensive-end Al Wallace was specifically asked that exact question --- who has the better odds for success this season, Jameis or Sam? He answered immediately and unequivocally... -

When did Peyton get into coaching? -

Tampa had 5 different head coaches in a 9-year span and Jameis played for 3 of them, only had Arians for 1-season. Arians wasn't the right coach for Jameis -- bad fit. (hell for a while there didn't look like he was right coach for Brady either!) From 2011 > 2019 the Buc's won 49 games overall and never made the playoffs. From 2011 > 2019 the Jets won 57 games overall and never made the playoffs (despite going 10-6 in 2015). You are what you record says you are and the Buc's record clearly shows they are a worse organization than the Jets. -

Sure you did. Personally I'm open to all possible outcomes for both Jameis and Sam. Both might succeed -- both might fail -- one might do well and the other not so much... ...but it's undeniable that the situations are incredibly similar and it's going to be very interesting to watch both play out. On the margin Jameis appears to have the edge...
