Texans now indicate Deshaun Watson is available for trade
SizzleBuzz replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is no discretionary "leverage" to be "exercised"...the terms of every NFL contract are VERY specific. You need to redirect your anger, the owners aren't the problem as it goes to your "concerns"... Again, do you believe Rodgers and Watson have signed contracts which are unfair? -

This makes no sense. Question, do you believe Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers signed bad contracts? Only of the player agreed to give them that right, in the contract. Absolutely they do. They can scream, pout, whine, jump up & down all they want... ...in no way does this sort of juvenile behavior obligate the team to react or modify the contract. Off to play golf with some rich guys, seeya later -

Each only holds the "leverage" afforded them in the contract they mutually agreed to. So you're position seems to be the players signed a crummy deal... ...whose fault is that? Whomever it is, that's where your anger and efforts should be directed. Hint: It ain't the owners. -

Players have agents and lawyers to balance the power and eliminate coercion. If you're offered a bad contract, don't sign it. If you sign it, be prepared to fulfill you end, if you want to be paid. -

Exactly as agreed to by the player, his agent, and his lawyer. What else do you want? -

The team cannot do so unless the player gave them the option, in writing. What leverage? The whiny bitch "oh my feeling are hurt" variety? Yeah, no can do... -

Complete horse-hockey and more virtue signaling please! LOL. Contracts are a 2-way street and agreed to by both parties... ...if either side feels it's unfair they should decline to sign. Own it. -

You're entitled to an opinion, it's a free country. The "power/authority" is determined by the details of the contract both parties agree to. It is true that I don't like it when whiny bitches who are on track to make $200,000,000+ in a career start pouting over hurt feelings and want to be let out of their contract as such. A player can only be cut if the contract is the terms of the contract allow the team to do so. Sometimes there are ramifications in terms of payments owed the player, sometimes not. If a player believes a contract to be unfair, they shouldn't sign it. If they sign it, they need to be prepared fulfill it. If a team conducts themselves outside the boundaries set in the contract, the team should be held accountable...and you can rest assurred the NFLPA makes they are. It's a free country, players can whine, holdout, quit...no worries here, whatever they want... ...but hurt feeling don't obligate the team to change the terms of the contract. That's where we differ, you don't believe in contracts, I do. It's ok to have differing views... ...understanding right & wrong and believing in the rule of law is important to me...others, not so much. -

That's your terminology, not mine. In the case of Whiny Aaron and the Packers the richest man in the room is Aaron...by a longshot. -

Good one! All joking aside, if for some insane reason the Texans did reverse course and make him available and another franchise acquired him... ...the acquiring franchise would be putting themselves squarely in the crosshairs of the Cancel Crew/Culture... ...Senators have been removed from office for far less. -

Have you been able to confirm who reports to whom? In the Appaloosa Model it looks like this: Tepper Rhule < ^ > Fitterer If true, by definition the GM is not "traditional" because "tradition" dictates that GM's hire and manage the Coach. What say ye? -

Try to contain your excitement. It's really weird. So who's the "strong man" there? Who's the richest guy in the room "forcing his will" onto whom? -

Your imagination knows no bounds... This would be an impossibility since NFL teams are contractually required to perform up to the terms they and the player agree to. There is no "we're just not gonna live up to it" clause in any NFL contract. Who is the "strong man" in the Whiny Aaron vs. Packers situation? PS...radio is saying Whiny Aaron is set to report -

Not even remotely similar...#3 doesn't make any provisions for a "trade". So now we're supposed to feel sorry for a guy who is set to have career earnings approaching $200,000,000 by 2025... BTW, nobody is "forcing their will" on anyone else, stop with the virtue signaling phony talk... ...both sides agreed to a detailed and legally enforceable contract, a contract that does not contain a "my feelings are hurt clause"... ...I expect the Texans to hold him to the contract, as they should. -

Yep and the endorsement income has dried up. An entourage can a pile of cash real fast... ...not to mention the legal feels, Rusty Hardin requires a $1,000,000 retainer just to get started. The pressure is on... -
Or just ignore it...

3. Force him to make the decision between honoring the terms of his contract, or, retire. -

No chance this is coming from or being "signaled" by the Texans... ...these "leaks" are straight outta Watson's camp LOL. The Texans have an ironclad contract with Watson and I believe they intend to force him to honor his side if he wants to ever collect another NFL paycheck. I'm curious, why did Watson report? How does that help his negotiating position? Thought he was already really rich and doesn't need the money? -
