  1. Posted Friday at 01:14 AM @Mr. Scot sez: "Here's some irony for ya... Martin Mayhew was one of the three sham Rooney Rule interviews that Jerry Richardson used to "comply" with the rule before hiring Marty. Now, per LaCanfora, one of the reasons listed for giving Mayhew the GM position instead of Marty is that the new rules give the Redskins a 3rd round pick for making him the GM rather than Marty." I was simply reacting to his statement.
  2. Surely DeShaun would exercise his no-trade clause in order to avoid going to the J-E-T-S?!?
  3. Who is Miller citing as DeShaun's top choice?
  4. He does seem to have an affinity for NYC... ...has he ever set foot in Charlotte on his own personal time?
  5. Slippery slope there....often people have the best of intentions and aren't able to meet the expectations they may have set. That said, DeShaun has specific contractual obligations with the Texans and none of those are set aside because he didn't get to pick the GM or Head Coach. It will be interesting to watch if DeShaun decides to walk away from a $156 million contract.
  6. Does Stafford have a No-Trade clause in his contract?
  7. McNair has proven to be a bit of a dolt, that's for sure.. What lies have been told? Is there proof of said lies? I'm not supporting anything, simply pointing out what the contractual obligations are. Unless there are specific obligations in the contract mandating it, the owner isn't obligated to consult with the QB on senior management hires.
  8. Nope, just 2021 contractual law. You should look into how many NFL players go broke. Not necessarily.
  9. Folks seem to be ignoring the fact that the Texans are not obligated to trade DW. If it comes down to dropping the no-trade provision and getting out... ...or having to stay... ...which do you believe DW will choose?
  10. Agreed. No work, no pay, no health care, no retirement accrual, endorsements go away, etc. Agreed. Quit and pay stops, health care stops, retirement accrual stops, endorsements go away, etc. Agreed. Nor are they obligated to accommodate with a trade.
  11. Really? So much for your moral compass... DeShaun can't "force" the Texans to do anything...
  12. Are you suggesting DeShaun should go down the road of painting himself as a low-character, anti-team guy like James Harden? My sense is DeShaun cares about keeping his good reputation intact. Sitting "him down" isn't part of the equation....LOL. If DeShaun wants to force the issue he's gonna have to hold out which means his income stream s-t-o-p-s.
  13. McNair/Texans have 100% of "the leverage". Watson has already "asked for a trade publicly"...it really is that simple. Bottom line, the McNair's don't need the money... ...Watson does. I hope the team plays hardball with him...
  14. Wait a minute... ...scotty sez "everybody in Washinton reports to Rivera"... ...does that not include "Snider"?
  15. Now that is interesting. In isolation "General Manager" is nothing more than 2 words printed on a business card... ...it's entirely possible Snyder gave the "GM" title to Mayhew in order to secure that draft pick while creating another position (call it COO of Football Ops) to whom the GM reports. Aaaahh, the law of unintended consequences... ...illogical knee jerk policy decisions always create unintended consequences.
  16. No he's not. His new NFL job requires 100% immersion from the get go... ...his wife/family combined with the moving company will be handling the "moving" part
  17. What do you think the true odds are? 1-in-10? 1-in-20? 1-in-50? 1-in-200?
  18. All joking aside the Carowinds location would be a fantastic location for the stadium.
  19. The families who own that land have a lot of snouts in the trough. Highest and best use of that land is to retain it, develop it, and collect the MASSIVE income stream it produces for the next 50+ years...feeds a lot of snouts. Put another way, discounting those cash-flows back to a present-value would yield a number so large that even Tepper would balk. If the families had any intent to flip the property to Tepper they'd have done so straight-away and let him deal with any zoning issues, etc... ...and if a new stadium is ever built within the Charlotte city limits it will probably be within the footprint of the existing facility.
  20. DW would be a complete fool to do such a thing... This could get interesting -- the Texans should play hard ball with him.
