  1. Pal, a hold-out is a hold-out... ...Bell was dumb enough to hold out twice and ownership didn't "fold" either time. Do you really believe Deshaun is dumb enough to put multi-million dollar game checks at risk by holding out? Show us one NFL QB who has ever done so....
  2. 110% refutes it! Bell made demands in 2017 and sat out in order to get them -- Steelers ownership did not "fold". Again in 2018 Bell made demands and sat out in order to get them -- again Steelers ownership did not "fold". You said ownership "all fold in these situations" and "they ALWAYS end up somewhere else after a season at most"... ...completely false.
  3. Yes $226M so far but his new contract with the Rams is worth $43M which takes him to $269M. What "happens" is TBD... ...completely in DW's control -- I suspect he will put his hurt feelings aside and show up to collect his massive paycheck per the terms of the contract he is obligated to!
  4. He also held out the entire preseason in 2017 and ownership did not "fold"... ...but rather, Bell "folded" and showed up to play in 2017. In 2018 he was dumb enough to sit the entire year.
  5. Exactly, that's what I said from the get-go, went right over your head. Complete horse-hockey, both are NFL QB's and it's a perfect comparison. If Watson does bank more than $269,478,969 in career NFL salary/earnings it will be because he showed up and played out his current contract --- if he sits out a season he has no chance.
  6. False. He held out the entire preseason of 2017 and ownership didn't blink. Ultimately he signed the tender/tag in time to play the first game of the season and due to lack of preparation stunk up the joint from game-1 onward in that season. Then he threatened to retire if tagged again the next season... ...and guess what, the Steelers never "caved" and tagged him again. Then the dummy sat out the entire 2018 season and cost himself many many millions which he was never able to recoup... ...Deshaun is smarter than that.
  7. Oh only $110,000,000 huh...gotcha. Luck had already banked $110,000,000 when he retired...LOL. If you're correct and Watson does walk away from the game and retire, will be interesting to watch --- what kind of odds are you placing on that exact scenario playing out?
  8. I never said "only NFL owners can act on principle"...those are your words. What I am saying is Deshaun has WAY more to lose by holding out than the Texans and McNair do by holding him to the letter of his contract. Folks are letting their personal emotions and hate for "the man" get in the way of logical analysis of the respective contractual obligations and impact on each party for not living up to their end of the contract.
  9. There's $146,540,000 there for the taking... ...he's not going to decline it on principle because his feeling are hurt.
  10. You said it always got sorted in a year or less...another false statement. Both are (were) high profile NFL players -- apples-to-apples. Comparing the NBA to the NFL not so much...
  11. By NFL QB standards it is... Matt Stafford has already banked $226,478,969 and in the next 2 years will bank another $43,000,000 which is more than Deshaun has made in his entire career.
  12. If a player refuses to play, and isn't getting paid...what are the salary cap rules? I don't know. The current McNair inherited his money, nobody said he was smart.
  13. He has enough money to live comfortably for the remainder of his life. As long as he doesn't do foolish things with it or take unwarranted risks investing it, he shouldn't have to work another day if he so chooses. All true. His gross contractual pay so far has been almost $41 million...the net-take obviously significantly lower after paying the agent, taxes, etc... ...next 5-years are worth $146,540,000.00 cold hard cash. That's a lot of money to walk away from because your feelings got hurt -- I don't think he would ever do so.
  14. Not even close. You said owners "all fold in these situations." That's not true.
  15. By your standards he is -- by NFL QB standards, not at all. McNair clearly doesn't care. I don't believe so, but it is possible. As it relates to "the NBA mentality" this case with Watson is of landmark status --- I suspect other owners are counseling McNair to not allow precedent to be set here.
  16. Simply a factual observation on one of the possible outcomes within the set. Folks seem to be ignoring how "old moneyed white men" just might behave. Watson's contract obligates him to play for the Texans through the 2025 season...if he plays it out and goes somewhere else in 2026 through free-agency more power to him. Here's the thing, unless his character/personality have reversed course since paying for Dabo...I believe Deshaun to be a respectful young man. When it comes time to show up and play he won't act out in the wildly childish and inappropriate way you seem to suggest he is capable of -- but rather he will give it his best as he always has.
  17. Steelers called LeVeon Bell's bluff -- twice! Au contraire! It's always best to keep your "franchise QB" within the fold. The definition of naivete is failing to consider all the possible outcomes...
  18. 1. Watson doesn't get paid. 2. He gets suspended for improper conduct and doesn't get paid. 3. The McNair family, worth ~$4b/$5B, just might prefer to teach Deshaun Watson a hard lesson -- DW needs them to get rich, they don't need DW at all. As they say, never pay ransom to a kidnapper...
  19. Bingo. McNair has proven to be entirely capable of unpredictable behaviour, and, he is in possession of F.U. money... ...anyone who completely discounts the possibility that McNair will call Deshaun's bluff and hold him to his contract is a dolt.
  20. Who so you believe to be on..."his list"...?
  21. He left Raleigh at 3. I doubt he has much sentiment about those years. Justin Herbert once changed planes in Charloot and word is he's upset with the Chargers owner who didn't consult him on who the cheerleader and marching band captains will be for next season... ...he's gonna want out and given the super-easy gate change he had in Charloot airport coming here to replace Teddy has to be right at the top of his list.
  22. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, including you. So your thesis is Deshaun got his feelings hurt and as a result... ...what should happen? I'm unclear on what you think should happen from here? Me personally I believe the Texans should hold him to the letter of his contract and keep him as their QB --- DW's contract doesn't have a "my feelings are hurt" provision in it.
