I'm insinuating that being an athlete and just working hard doesn't make you a franchise QB. Darnold has the physical talent to be a QB but he can't process the game and that's why he can't succeed and isn't a franchise QB.
-
Bad drive by Malik, he looks to run first and slow to process his reads leading to holding on to the ball too long for sacks. Again, I don't necessarily care that the guy can throw a ball through a wall. I'm more interested in how he plays the game between the ears. Jamarcus Russell had all the talent but the worst work ethic.

There's a lot of hype this week that Willis is the best QB at the senior bowl. After watching his first drive, he looks like a poor man's Mike Vick. Not as fast as Vick but elusive. Has a strong arm but inconsistent thrower.

Greg Olsen talks with The Athletic
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
What I took away from this interview is that everyone who talks to Rhule walks away impressed after listening to him. LOL, I think Rhule must be casting witchcraft and sorcery with his words when he talks to people (ie Tepper, Hurney, Olsen). Rhule is a big talker but he doesn't live up to it. I think Rhule even talks himself into thinking he is a big shot! Actions speak louder than words! -
I agree that the best candidate should be hired for the job regardless of skin color or ethnicity. At the same time how do you know that owners and organizations aren't black balling African American candidates? The intention of The Rooney rule was good, but it is significantly flawed too.

Jimmy G actually has a lot of good options in free agency. Steelers went to post season and need a QB, WFT, Green Bay if Rodgers leaves, Seahawks if Russell leaves, NO, Tampa Bay. These are all teams with good talent. The question is if they think Jimmy G is the missing piece. He's proven in two big time games (super bowl against chiefs and this NFC championship game) that he can manage it but won't win you the game.

Rhule's job is to do what his coordinators and assistant coaches with NFL experience tell him to do because he has no NFL experience...oh the irony.
-
I petition that we draft a QB in the first round every year until we find our franchise QB. If they stink it up their rookie year, oh well, move on! lol

It Seems Official Tom Brady Retires
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is the defining trait of a franchise QB. Brady has off the charts intangibles and a competitive fire. No one will say that he is the best athlete on the field but he knows how to win. Peyton Manning is a poor athlete but was cerebral and studied his craft the hardest. Our next QB has to have these traits, not just the strongest arm or the fastest 40 time. -
Rhule is hiring assistants to tell him how to do his job....lol! Oh the irony!

Albert Breer on the Panthers quarterback options
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
And I worry that it would ruin the young QB's development and set us back for many more years giving them time to develop only to flame out. They need a good HC and consistency to succeed. Even Lawrence who is supposed to be a generational talent had a horrible rookie year and is setback with poor coaching. He is no where near what Joe Burrow is given the situation. -
Albert Breer on the Panthers quarterback options
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
This all comes back down to having Rhule in a lame duck situation. If Tepper would have fired him and started all over, at least free agents would know that there is stability for the next couple of years. No signifiant free agent would want to come here under this HC situation, it's even bad for any rookie QB. Gets drafted only to have the HC get fired, it would ruin his development in his early pro career. -
Hornets Inquired About Ben Simmons
CarolinaRideorDie replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Hornets are on a role with good teammates and good chemistry. Why mess it up just because he is a hyped name? Ben is broken, he would not add any perimeter shooting and he is a cancer. No thanks. -
Rhule turned down the Jets job the year prior to his hire because the Jets wanted him to have a more experienced staff. Rhule said go fug yourself. Now he is trying to hire assistant coaches with experience, Rhule is so ignorant.

Again, these playoffs have shown how valuable a clutch kicker is! Kickers have either won the game or tied it in the final minutes!
-
These playoff games have been very entertaining to watch even just as NFL fans. It's just so sad to compare our Panthers team to these teams, we need more than 7 years at this rate to compete.
-
The playoffs "own Aaron Rodgers!" lol
-
Just wanted to put this out there. Both of these games were won on kickers! Don't underestimate a kicker when you need them in crunch time!
-
Again, this shows how much coaching matters! A-Rod played like MVP this season but he was beat by a better coach with the SF. Jimmy G did NOT win this game. Lafleur is a fraud, his resume is elevated by A-Rod playing well in the regular season but can't when it matters. Tired of people saying that the goal is to make it to the playoffs. No the goal is the Super Bowl.
-
Jimmy G is playing with a superior HC and coordinator, tonight's game shows his limitations. That's why they drafted Lance because his potential will be better than Jimmy's ceiling. Jimmy would be even worse with Rhule and McAdoo as HC. If Rhule really trades for him, then I deserve to be HC and GM because I can make better decisions than them!
-
Watching this game is so disheartening. Panthers are so far from contending when compared to these playoff franchises. We're managed and coached like a high school football team playing in the NFL. The Process is not working, look what Bengals did in 2 season. #1 pick to AFC championship, fun 7 years Rhule!
-
So do we still need an offense line to win? You can't win giving up 10 sacks a game, but with good game planning and a great QB, you can overcome it. Both things that the Panthers don't have sadly.
