Are we also developing Rhule too?
-
We are set for the next 10 years! Yes!
-
wow, how did we get our choice of the 3 top LTs left?
-
I think Tepper's press conference has a lot of influence on how the draft plays out. If Tepper REALLY supports Rhule and gives him 5 years to build this team, then Rhule is not on the hot seat and is not pressured into reaching for a QB at pick 6. Panthers trade back into teens or possibly early 20 and gets 2nd or 3rd round picks. If by chance Willis or Pickett fall to them that far down the board where their value matches their pick, then they will pull the trigger and draft their QB. Win/win situation. If we trade down and don't get a QB, then pick BPA (LB/DL/OL) and pick QB in next year's draft.

Tepper is full of it regarding Darnold
CarolinaRideorDie replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Moore is good, but I also don't think he is the same receiver or produced on the same level as Smith did. And yes I understand Moore didn't have stable QB play, but it's whatever at this point. -

Steve Smith is a great trash talker, but he offers nothing in player evaluation or analysis. I've watched previous drafts and some of the comments he makes about the WR prospects are just absolute trash or so generic. If I remember correctly he thinks Corey Davis was going to be a beast in the league, he is already on his second team. -

I agree that Tepper saying Darnold is a "very good QB" is absurd and stupid. At the same time I don't think he truly means it when we were actively looking into Deshaun Watson trade this offseason. Actions speak louder than words. And the notion that we should say positive things to support our current QB because we need leverage doesn't make sense. You can't make sh*t smell good. The whole league knows Darnold is ass. Honestly Tepper should have just said that he defers to the coaches and GM for the QB situation. You are responsible for what you say, you'll either be proven a liar or a dumbass. -
Explicitly saying that Darnold is a good QB is different from his previous statements that they need to upgrade the QB position when Cam or Teddy was still present. I'm just curious why he shows Darnold so much support when he was quick to bash the other QB's that's all. If Tepper was the only reason why Cam came back last year then it proves that he meddles too much and Rhule and Fitterer had to say yes to it.

Tepper upsets me with his quote saying that he thinks Sam Darnold was a good quarterback and believed in him. You didn't hear him say that about Cam when he first bought the Panthers. Tepper is just trying to force us to believe in his mistakes. I don't even know if he truly believes in Rhule or if he just covering up his mistakes at this point. At the end of the day, put a poor product on the field, fans will lose interest and affect the bottom line, maybe then Tepper will listen. Only thing billionaire's hate to lose more than football games, is to lose money.

Is Rhule sucking Tepper's D? What did Rhule's wife put in those meatballs? I have no idea how an owner puts so much confidence in a HC that hasn't proven anything. How does Rhule have so much leash?

Fitterer and Morgan draft presser today at 2:00

Of course Darnold is comfortable, he is comfortable with his trash QB play too. Dude just doesn't have the "IT" factor or desire to be great. -
2022 Draft / Best Player Available
CarolinaRideorDie replied to OceanPanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Arguably the top 6 players are either defensive or offensive linemen. Hutchinson, Walker, Thibs, Neal, Cross, Icky. We are at least guaranteed one of these players by pick 6 and they would fill a need and be BPA. Of course unless we reach for a QB. -
Rich Eisen on Pelissero's QB piece

What I took away from this clip is that if McAdoo really rated Josh Allen and Mahomes higher in their respective draft classes, then it's not out of the question that Malik might be QB #1 on our list. McAdoo did mention that he would rather swing for the fences in a QB instead of take a safe bet. We'll see how much pull McAdoo really has. If you can convince me that Malik has the same upside as Josh Allen and Mahomes but it'll take one year to realize it, I would support the pick. -
LOL, not only does Darnold look like the dude in the gif but that's probably how Darnold reacted to hearing that he needs to stop throwing INTs from McAdoo.
-
I think the evaluation on Pickett and Willis is spot on. I agree that Willis has all the physical potential but he doesn't do the "winning things," like Polian said. Pickett did well in his senior year because he "fit" their system. If it had to be a QB then it should be Pickett. Willis is too raw.

Rhule was hired to take over all football operations and all decisions go through him, so he is primarily the one to blame. I also think Joe Brady played a big part of it, Teddy was signed because he was "familiar" with Brady's offense in New Orleans. Brady must have believed that he could fix Darnold.
-
That's my take from this as well. He has a flat affect, is not a hoo-rah kind of guy, just indifferent. And that's exactly why he is a mediocre QB at best. Upsetting to hear him say that he CAN be a good QB because he has been before...???? When? Where? Which multiverse? This guys has the physical tools but lacks intangibles and that's the difference.

Obvserver’s Alexander interview with Fitterer
CarolinaRideorDie replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think this is great insight into how Fitt thinks. His evaluation of Wilson is pretty telling. The physical qualities don't always matter that much compared to the intangibles. I remember watching John Gruden's QB camp on ESPN for the upcoming QBs in the draft and Wilson stood out a lot. He was smart and had the "it" factor. -
What matters: a QB’s talent or their situation?
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Tbe's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think there are very few generational QBs that can win regardless of situation. Ex. Tom Brady, Rodgers, Manning. But fit is probably the most important factor. McVay went to 2 superbowls with 2 different QBs and ultimately won one with Stafford and Stafford never went to a superbowl before. McCarthy is carried by Rodgers and Dak, and Dak can't win a play off game with McCarthy. Mahomes is great but would he be as successful without Andy Reid...IDK? -

Rhule and Fitterer are the last dudes without a date to prom. They are gonna ask the ugly girl to the dance just to have a date. -
Scouting reports for the top three quarterbacks
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we are evaluating this year's QB class, we have to compare it to Baker and Darnold's QB class since those are our other options at QB. It's very telling if you think Darnold and Baker were better prospects compared to this year's class. They went top 3, there might not even be a top 10 QB this year. Why reach for a QB who is less of a prospect compared to Darnold and Baker?
