Official Panthers at Giants please god let us win a game thread
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Need to give Mayfield easy throws to CMC out of the back field to keep drives alive. There is no creativity with this offense. -

Phil Snow with the dumb play calls. He never blitzed and had 3 down linemen during that entire drive. Jones had so much time in the pocket to throw. -

Our team is just so undisciplined. Reflects head coach preparation. -

all I can do is LOL!!! This is the great Matt Rhule Era! -
Seahawks played tough and stole a W from the better team. Wished the Panthers can play tough.

As much as I would like to blame Rhule and Elf, I think most of the fumbles and even a couple of sacks were on Baker Mayfield. As much as reporters were saying that Mayfield was calm and collected, his play says otherwise. I know he was anxious/scared and he played that way without energy for 3 quarters. Don't discount the batted balls too. The good news is that he did at least give us a chance to win the game. The sh*tty truth is that the Browns were more mentally tough and made a game winning drive when they needed to. Panthers are mentally soft and weak which is on the head coach.

Seahawks are a well coached team and beating a superiorly talented team in Denver. Says a lot about our coaching staff who can't game plan or put players in position to win.

The Run D Problem: Scheme, Personnel, or Both??
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Jay Roosevelt's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the biggest fault for our poor run defense is not necessarily the D-line, but our lack of a playmaker at linebacker. We have been blessed with great linebackers through Panther history all the way from Dan Morgan to Luke. The D-linemen take up the blocks, but it's the linebackers job to make the tackle. It's no coincidence that our run defense has fallen off with the retirement of Luke. -

LOL, do the Browns know something about Baker that the Panthers don't? -

Panthers are playing scared right now. -
When you look at some of these franchises, we're in good company. Unfortunately, we've lost both of our chances at a Super Bowl win and I'm not certain how soon we are to competing for another one. GB and Saints capitalized on their one opportunity. I think Panthers and SF are the only teams to not win a Super Bowl with 2 appearances. Well run franchises will always remain competitive, hope we start climbing the ranks!

I think it speaks volumes that JJ Jansen is a team captain for special teams and one of the longest tenured Panthers play ever. Long snapper is probably one of the most replaceable positions but he just remains un-replaceable. Respect to the man.

Dan Graziano on Laviska Shenault trade
CarolinaRideorDie replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
My question is does the staff really think Shenault is better than Shi Smith who has shown progress and knows the play book? Rhule said Smith was in convo to be a starter. How much confidence does our FO have in our current WR room to trade for one at this point? Should have traded for him before training camp to build chemistry. -

Just watching Darnold play with the reserves and it really shows his quality of play. He may be one of bigger QB busts. I can't believe we forced him to work last year when he was clearly not the answer. -

What a big difference between Baker and Sam. Baker makes quicker and more decisive decisions. Sam just struggles with everything. -

We should let Darnold punt, he might have a roster spot if he can punt! -

Amazing throw by Mayfield. I know he has the arm talent, Darnold would not have attempted that throw to Hubbard. -

This interview with Tepper is painful to watch. I just cringe! -
I don't even remember what down it was or what the plays were prior to X-Clown, but I remember specifically when Jake stepped back, pumped fake, and threw that ball with authority, I knew it was going to be a big play. Next thing, Agent 89 takes it all the way! I don't quite remember where I was at but I did know that I felt numb after the play...lol

Albert Breer's Five Observations from Panthers Camp
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think our team definitely has the talent to go to the playoffs. It all just depends on the QB. I think if we can establish a good run game and support Baker so that he doesn't have to WIN the game, we'll be fine. He has shown a penchant for being a good play action thrower and taking his shots down the field when the opportunity is there. He just needs to protect the ball and not turn it over, we'll be alright. -
I think the the 2003 Super Bowl run was more exciting than 2015. Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely fun to watch Cam and the team dominate each and every game except for the loss in 2015. But from a thrill stand point, the 2003 team were underdogs for pretty much the whole season. It was truly a cinderella story. We were called the cardiac cats for a reason that season. When one game can be summed up by one play call, X-clown, that has to be one of the best Panthers game ever. Double overtime as underdogs, yeah it doesn't get much better than that.
