There are reports that Rams were very interested too but they lack the draft picks. CMC and the Shanahan family go way back to their days of Denver. I know CMC had some say in this, it’s essentially a dream come true for CMC.
-
He’s not gonna reach the hall of fame being here in Carolina! I’m sad to see him go but we don’t know everything behind the scenes, CMC going back to SF is not a coincidence, I think he may have asked for a trade. The dude did what is best for his career. He wasn’t going to be here regardless, might as well get something for him.
-
At the end of the day, I still blame Rhule for his toxic culture and losing ways! His hire has really set this franchise back almost a decade!
-
I’ve been keeping an eye on this years RB group and it a projected to be a deep class. CMC is still an elite player though.
-
Reports are that we get 2,3,4 round picks of this year and a 5 from next year
-
Not against trading him but I sure hope we got good compensation for an elite player!
-
Was he talking us or the Saints back then? I couldn't tell the difference.

Panthers "listening" on Shaq Thompson also
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Shaqs production is replaceable. Trading him and Robbie make the most sense cap-wise and talent wise. -
Size didn't matter to Muggsey Bogues! If you can ball, you can ball!

Fitt deserves credit for putting this line together than. I have no doubt that if Fitt remains GM, he will do all in his power to get our franchise QB next year. I know he's gambled on the QB trades but I think Rhule has a lot more to do with it than Fitt. I don't believe Fitt would force a marriage of Baker with Rhule if Rhule didn't want it.
-
When you review Fitt's works as a GM, he has actively tried to fix all of the roster problems. He has drafted positions of need with relative success (Horn, Ickey), he has signed good O-line men, decent linebackers, etc. He has traded for CB help when we were thin. He's even tried to fix the QB position. Not all of his trades have worked out but he is ACTIVELY TRYING. I prefer a GM who is actively trying to fix issues instead of sit back and wait and be conservative. I think he deserves a chance to act on his own without Rhule.

This trade brings up a lot of questions about management. Is this a Wilks move or did Fitt do it? Who has the final say in these kind of moves?
-
I wonder what this does for our cap situation

Get rid of the Temple cancer and connections with Rhule. The more we cleanse his players, the better.

We are the only team in the NFL with 5 losses

This is eerily similar to Cam Newton with the rise of Hendon Hooker, the QB from TN. Cam Newton took the NCAAF by storm and was unstoppable, he beat great teams too. Let's see if TN can make it to the finals. I think if they win the Championship, you have to strongly consider Hooker as a candidate, the kid is from Greensboro, NC too. -
Here's the thing, if Panthers are trading players for assets in the future, does that mean Fitt will be the GM next year? I don't understand having a fire sale of your best players and then trying to hire a new GM. Is it Fitt's call to trade these players or is it Teppers? These trades would be for the future, why would Fitt do it if he is not going to be around for it?

Stroud has all the physical tools to be a franchise QB, but I think what matters the most is intangibles. The one thing about Ohio State QBs is that they can put up stats but is it because of the system and talent around them? Watch Fields last night and he looked lost, listen to his post game conference and he comes across as immature and not well spoken. Haskins also had some immaturity issues and seemed non-engaged with Commanders and Steelers. If Panthers are scouting Stroud, I would grill this kid pretty hard to see how he handles interviews and tough situations.
-
I think the root of all this chaos and the downfall of the Panthers can come down to one single thing = Tepper's ego. Tepper bought the Panthers as the richest NFL owner and he came in real cocky with brass balls. His ego thought that he could buy the "hottest name coach (Rhule)", build the best facilities (failed Rock Hill site), pay the hottest name coordinators (Joe Brady), throw money at any QB to try and make it work. Once these failures start to mount, his ego wouldn't let him fire Rhule last year even though he knew it wasn't working. Tepper doesn't like being wrong as evidenced by his press conference. I do hope that Tepper learns his lessons and eats his humble pie. This next hire will be critical, if Tepper doesn't get it right now, he won't get it right in the future.

I think firing Rhule will light a fire under the player's asses. This is a business, if you don't produce then next man up!

The stench of Rhule is gone so Luke is back!

The Official HC Candidate Thread
CarolinaRideorDie replied to methodtoll's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't want any retreads with average win records. Look what Ron has done for the Commanders, below-average. Some of the former HC are stuck in their ways. The only retreads that would be candidates are ones with winning records/pedigrees (ex. Andy Reid, maybe McCarthy, even he is debatable) We need new blood and energy on the offense. Scoring points is what wins in the NFL now, no matter how good your defense is, it can't be on the field for 60 mins. -
Tepper is looking to see where Scott Fowler is sitting so he can jump him in the hall way! lol "How dare you ask me those hard questions!"

Don’t be surprised if Panthers beat Rams Sunday
CarolinaRideorDie replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
It will be very interesting to see how Wilks game plans for Kupp. There's so much report about how Wilks disagrees with Snow's philosophy, let's see if he lines Horn up against Kupp. It will be a good battle to see how Horn measures up to one of the best WRs in the game.
