So basically we have no idea who will be drafted
CarolinaRideorDie replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
At this point, I believe the Panthers know the secret access code/passwords to the US military nuclear program, they also know Putin and Kim Jong-Un's secret hide out, however they don't know who they are going to pick at #1 overall. I shook at magic 8 ball and it said "concentrate and ask again" -
That's two wide receiver signings because of our staff! Sanders coming here was also because of Duce from their time in Philly. I have all the confidence in the world that this staff knows what they are doing. Our staff gives us instant credibility already!

As I said in another post, the devastating injuries are concussions and ACL tears. These type of injures don't have anything to do with size. Physical freaks have had ACL tears, Luke ended his career early because of concussions and they were all big physical specimens. I think Young can have a long career because he knows how to play the QB position to protect himself. His elite trait is pocket awareness, you can't avoid every single sack or pressure but having that awareness decreases those chances. Young doesn't even have an injury history, draft the prospect for what he can do. Don't avoid drafting him for things that he can't control and predict in the future, ex injuries.

John Ellis on Stroud v Young
CarolinaRideorDie replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is so much talk about Young being more prone to injury because of his size. But I think it's foolish to hold that against drafting him. Injuries are a part of the game and he will get injured guaranteed. The devastating injuries are concussions and ACL tears, your size has nothing to do with those type of injuries. Cam was a physical specimen at the QB position and his longevity is shorter than Drew Brees. I think Young's size concerns are a bit overblown, if you can play you can play. Young will be our Muggsy Bogues in the NFL! -

Last Qb he picked was Dwayne Haskins actually -
I've watched tons of scouting reports on these QB prospects and the one thing i'm taking away from Bryce Young is that this guy's football IQ is elite. He has the work ethic, grind, and demeanor to be a cerebral QB, he reminds me of Peyton Manning's approach to football but obviously the difference in size. Stroud is a great prospect in his own right, but I wouldn't pass up on a Peyton Manning when difference only is size.

Panthers to Send 11 Representatives to Ohio St Pro Day

Nah, in another video after Frank missed his initial hand shake he went back and shook hands with Stroud. "That's my QB!" -
McCown to CJ : “Maybe when you move to Charlotte”

Watching the whole Panthers staff walk up to him and look at him with amazement is like bettors looking at a stallion at the Kentucky derby. "My what a fine specimen!" -

I watched Stroud's pro day and personal interviews, he is well spoken and seems to be very religious thanking God in each of his interviews. Stroud already checks all the boxes you want in regards to physical tools as a QB. I think the factor that will separate him from Bryce is demeanor and how they each carry themselves. It may be a small point but I think it's huge that Frank being a pastor will pick Stroud because his personal makeup. Nothing against Bryce's personal religious beliefs. -

For anyone thinking we have a chance for Marvin Harrison Jr is delusional. We already traded next years first rounder. -
Reich description of his future QB!
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Ivory Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Size is a concern, however big, tall, strong QBs also get hurt. I think he has proven that he can be a great QB, what's going to separate him from the others is his football acumen during personal interviews. I saw an interview where Daniel Jeremiah was talking with Pat McAfee and there are reports that Young has the right attitude, football intelligence, and maturation to be a franchise QB. Young was watching tape on Sundays after their games on Sat and going to coaches and giving them a game plan. His work ethic and drive reminds me of Luke being a film rat and know all of the offenses plays. Luke ended his career because of concussions even being in top physical shape. I would rather have 5-7 years of hall of fame production compared to 10 years of average play. -
Get the WR's now, use 2nd pick for defense
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Does Dhop have a no trade clause? If he does then sure he can refuse to come here, but if he don't then he is going to the highest bidder. DJ Moore didn't have a say in going to Chicago -

If Panthers are interested in Theilen at age 32, they surely would be interested in Hopkins at 31. I don't expect Hopkins or Theilen to save the day but their exp and production is invaluable to a rookie QB at this time. -

CarolinaRideorDie replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree that it was dumb trade, that's why I don't think he is even worth a 2nd at this point. If he wants to come home and finish his career in Carolina that would be incentive to come here. Also I really believe that with this staff and the right rookie QB, we can be a play off team this year in a weak division. Arizona is not going to the playoff next year with Murray out for a prolonged time. -

Is Hopkins at this point in his career worth a 2nd round pick? He was traded for a 2nd round pick and more in his prime, he can probably be had for a 3rd. -
Uh, they drafted him to give him a chance at his NFL dream, paid him millions of dollars to play football, coached him, put him on the field even started him at some point. So yeah, I think he's had his fair chance to develop into at least a decent TE at this point it's on him.
-
Ian Thomas is a waste of a roster spot, sure he took a pay cut but what has he done for this team on game day? Are we going to carry 3 TE on game day? Just let him go.
-
At this point, essentially Young and Stroud is 1a and 1b. It all depends on the flavor you like. To me, Stroud is your more traditional drop back QB, take what the defense gives you, and be accurate. Young is more of a playmaker when things don't go well, I feel like he has more potential to make big plays. Stroud can sustain a 12 play drive, where as Young can give you a 50+yd chunk play any time. I prefer Young but wouldn't be mad at Stroud.

Wow! This is what I expected! We need our franchise qb now! Hate to see Dj Go but he is replaceable.

Panthers are now the betting favorite for the #1 pick
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Martin's topic in Carolina Panthers
How do you know that he WON'T be a franchise QB? Life is all about risks, everyone knows that tomorrow is not guaranteed, but if you also don't take risks you'll never achieve greatness. Do you know what your future holds? You don't, but you do the best that you can and make a calculated decision! -
