  1. I would really like to not overpay Bozeman. The hidden key to our run game last year was offensive line health. We only lost Elf through the first 16 games. It’s already guaranteed that we’ll be less healthy next year, so there’s a good chance that we’re about to pay more money to our O-line just to watch it regress anyway. I just hope they don’t get swept up in thinking that continuing to throw all of our assets at one spot is going to be the answer.
  2. I know QB coach -> OC is the norm, but I'd really like a candidate to have a background with the O-line or as a running game coordinator. We'll probably need to coach up some young QB's for a while here, but we've got an elite run game right now and need to keep it that way. The next OC needs to be able to keep the running game as varied and effective as it is now.
  3. Incredible thing to say about an NFL head coach. Absolutely wild.
  4. There’s basically no info from inside scouting departments yet, the mocks don’t mean too much yet. But he definitely has the kind of talent that teams fall in love with, and it only takes one.
  5. His rushing should give his offense a decently high floor, not too different from how the Giants use Danny Dimes. He’ll get beat up, though, and his passing is definitely going to set a low ceiling, at least at first. I wouldn’t expect those early Cam 300-yard games. But depending on where we end up he could be a great pick.
  6. If we can't find a way out of that spot, Bresee. He's just the best prospect as of right now, which is a huge caveat this early. Levis and Richardson offer floors because they can run. Tanner McKee is the better long-term passing prospect, though. He's flying under the radar on the east coast so far.
  7. Recovery from this injury has gotten better recently. Durant, James Robinson. Hopefully he’s back near full health next season.
  8. People want to make smart decisions to maximize the value of our assets. “You guys just want to blow it up” is reductive. Nobody wants to trade Moore. The Burns proposal would’ve been a win for us, though.
  9. Why would you hit the reset button if you have an actual competent team? I’m not advocating for trading Burns because he’s not good. He’s just not in a situation where his being good is leading to wins. This team has too many holes, most notably at quarterback, and isn’t going to compete for at least another couple of years. By the time we’re actually competitive, the return on that trade will probably be better than Burns alone. Pretty simple. I don’t know how to help you with that last point; if you just want to laugh at the current team then don’t come into the thread that’s obviously about trades and how to weigh the value of the present vs the future.
  10. You’re making up the immediate losing = exile line. Losing with an intentionally-built, young roster that’s loaded with rookies who could be the cornerstones of the next great Panthers teams is not going to result in those guys being tossed. Its about defining and maximizing your window, not being reactionary.
  11. Guys, he is an exceptional pass rusher and he is 24 years old, let's stop complaining about the imperfections in his game. He's worth paying. (If you're not going to trade him, which they obviously should have done.)
  12. A dart-throwing monkey should be able to manufacture a pass rush with two firsts and a second.
  13. Has to be just about Claypool, that’s Green Bay’s FO trying to make it look like they made the same offer Chicago made and it’s not their fault that they didn’t get him.
  14. What’s this in reference to? I just tried to google it but didn’t find anything. I remember Rhule wanted a big investment in sports science when he got hired, but can’t remember hearing anything about it.
  15. I think even when Baker comes out we might just have to keep playing PJ and Eason. Got to see what we have with the young guys.
  16. I hope Campen and Tabor stay no matter what. I'd say Wilkes, too, but I can't imagine him coming back as a position coach.
  17. His size scares me, Levis's accuracy scares me, but none of them scare me as much as simply not having a quarterback with any redeeming qualities, which is where we are now.
  18. Stroud, Young, Levis, Jalen Carter, and Will Anderson all seem like totally fine picks. As long as we're in the top five then we should be happy.
  19. The Schefter report was us learning that today.
  20. He could be a backup, but probably not a good one in this scheme. He's really only effective when he can roll out of the pocket or take a super-deep Madden drop. Both let him look downfield and get him clear of rushers' hands. If whoever our next coach is wants to run a Shanahan/play-fake heavy offense then yeah. If not, pass.
  21. He's not close to returning from his injury, per Schefter. So we're just going to have to keep watching Baker for a bit.
  22. That may not be predictive. Pittsburgh also only hires good coaches, and Tepper hasn't done that yet.
  23. Probably because three of the next five picks already look great, including Surtain, who was picked next and plays the same position. Also probably because the Giants just picked twice in the top seven because they were smart enough to say yes to the same deal we were offered. Almost all of the realistic alternatives—picking the other corner, picking the offensive tackle, picking the LB/EDGE, trading down with Chicago, maybe even picking Fields—look better than what we ended up with. Obviously none of this is Horn’s fault, though.
  24. Maybe, but I don’t think that’s the whole picture. We had 53 snaps to the Browns’ 80. Five ended with tipped passes and four featured fumbled snaps. One screen to CMC was called back due to Ian Thomas’ holding call; at least one more got blown up. It was a really low-volume day against an opponent that controlled the clock and in an offense that couldn’t get the basics right. But I don’t think the team’s intentionally avoiding using him.
