  1. Yeah, I'd stay pat for the BPA at 8 or move back for more picks if it looks like we're not gonna get our preferred QB.
  2. I didn't say I was in favor of overbidding, just that if a team wants Wilson they'll likely have to offer the Jets more than what is typical to move up to #2. Bottom line: In a QB driven league, where multiple teams are looking for an upgrade, Wilson will likely have multiple suitors. Jets hold all the cards/seller's market.
  3. If these accusations turn out to be true I'd imagine it is gonna be a PR challenge for any team that decides to make Watson the face of their franchise.
  4. I'm no fan of the Texans' ownership and I get why they're hated, but the OP's article lays out a pretty clear case that the team holds all the cards in this standoff. Watson will be forced to play this season if he hopes to avoid taking an extremely significant financial hit. So why would the Texans ruin Deshaun's reputation/future to play in the NFL, when all they have to do is wait for him to cave due to financial pressure or trade him for a boatload of picks/players? Attacking Deshaun's reputation while he's under contract would likely destroy both of those options. It would be like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.
  5. Though they initially considered Chicago's offer, Seattle is not ready to move on from Russ. https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/analysis-why-the-bears-reportedly-offering-the-kitchen-sink-for-russell-wilson-wasnt-enough-for-the-seahawks/
  6. Rashaan is clearly heads and shoulders above the competition.
  7. Welp, it wasn't too long ago when police caught the owner of the Patriots on video soliciting sex acts at "spa" in Florida. Eventually all charges were dropped. Amazing what a good defense team can do for you. I know who I'd be calling if I were Watson. Might even get a new job out of it. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/crime-courts/robert-kraft-prostitution-charges-dropped-florida-prosecutors-n1240964
  8. I'm not gonna discount any possible scenarios this early in the process. However, if it turns out the Texans ownership has anything to do with this, well, that'd have to be about the dumbest move they could've made w/regards to Watson. It is the sort of thing that would not only risk destroying Watson's trade value, it would also risk the ownership's continued control of the Texans franchise.
  9. Could be a diamond in the rough? Welcome and best of luck Darius! Keep pounding!
  10. Buy low, sell high, Tepper and all's good.
  11. RIP Watson playing behind our roster.
  12. I've been paying attention and Panthers aren't going to get Deshaun for a song. There is going to be a significant price to pay. The Texans will likely receive multiple high round draft picks and/or young talented players before they part ways with Watson. Panthers aren't a QB away from contention and Deshaun isn't a silver bullet.
  13. Meh, comparing the talent levels between these two teams reminds me of the old adage: "People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." We've got a relatively new management so there is reason for hope. Texans have reason for hope as well with their new management. Or, maybe not. Lots is left to the imagination at this point. Bottom line: Just about anything is possible, but if I were Deshaun having to go through all this I'd be holding out for a team that is well positioned for a championship run and is just a QB away.
  14. So if Watson doesn't require a say in management issues, this Mexican Standoff boils down to "the owner lied to me"?
  15. If Watson's end game is to have input on selection of team management it might apply here as well.
  16. Lombardi's basic point is sound, football is still a team sport. Deshaun wasn't good enough to win in Texas due to the lack of talent around him. Well, Carolina might as well be the Texans when it comes to talent level. Giving away a boat load of high draft picks and promising players to win the Watson sweepstakes will only undermine the Panther's ability to secure needed talent at numerous positions for years to come. Under those circumstances, how long will it take before Watson threatens to hold out yet again?
  17. Impact: Another space just opened up on the Panthers bench.
  18. One of my nagging concerns is our new GM comes from a team that has also struggled with constructing a decent Oline to protect their QB. Time will tell. Until then, I'll remain skeptical.
  19. Bill Belichick once again shows why he is considered one of the smartest minds in the league. This signing is ultra low risk with a potential huge upside if Cam can find his Mojo. Meanwhile, it doesn't limit the Patriots in any meaningful way from continuing their search for their next franchise QB.
