  1. A team with many areas of need shouldn't be committing a significant portion of its cap to a position it can easily address in the upcoming draft.
  2. This is the most correct answer. Watson would be well advised to stick with the Texans massage therapist going forward.
  3. Massages aren't a free for all situation. Gotta keep Mr. Wiggly under wraps. If I were as rich as Watson, I'd have a paid chaperon in the room with me to help discourage these sorts of lawsuits. Might seem ridiculous, but that's the world we live in.
  4. Of course the Panthers are doing their due diligence, but there are at least 7 teams in front of them at the moment. Stand by for further developments. "Life is what happens while you're busy making plans."
  5. Anyone outside the Panthers organization that claims to know what the team intends to do is delusional. Those within the organization likely won't be able to say for sure until the moment of truth arrives.
  6. Sam might not be the guy to lead us to the promised land, or maybe he will be. Only time will tell. Let's give him a chance to show what he's got as a Panther before we write him off.
  7. Panthers draft strategy is wide open after acquiring Sam. All things are possible.
  8. Here is Archie Manning talking about Darnold's situation w/the Jets last October (during a broader conversation about Trevor Lawrence). Some may recall that Archie was as a pretty good NFL QB on some really bad Saint's teams. He also raised two sons that went on to win several Super Bowls. So, I'm gonna have to give his opinion a little more weight than the average sport pundit.
  9. Say what you will, Tepper's influence is having a positive impact on the Charlotte sports scene. Doubt Charlotte would have an MLS franchise without him. Might have missed it: Did Dave ask the City Council to kick in some money for this renovation or is this entirely team funded?
  10. Meh, right now Teddy isn't even sure if he's gonna be around in another week or two. If Teddy ends up staying in Carolina, I suspect he'll act professionally when competing with Sam if for no other reason than it's in his best interest to do so. Last thing Teddy needs at this point is to get a rep for having a bad attitude.
  11. Probably not. Maybe I'm expecting too much from someone who may become the next face of the franchise.
  12. Agreed. Among the long time starters, Steve Beuerlein, Rodney Peete and Jake were tolerable to decent public speakers. All the rest of our starters would've benefitted greatly from joining Toastmasters.
  13. True. While Darnold certainly wasn't hired for his Q&A prowess, he should have enough money squirreled away by now to afford a public speaking coach. If I were Tepper, I'd hire one for him ASAP. Shouldn't take too much effort to clean up his verbal pauses and it would make his press conferences a lot less painful to endure.
  14. Checking into rehab as soon as I've recovered from the "you know" drinking game induced blackout.
  15. The Darnold trade is already paying dividends. Other teams can no longer peg the Panthers first round pick. More teams, not less, should be interested in trading picks w/Carolina for their preferred player at 8. TLDR: Panthers are now sitting in the catbird seat thanks to the Jets trade.
  16. It may be too late for that. Ask JR, former franchise owner, how well his payoffs/NDA's protected him from the wrath of the NFL and the court of public opinion.
  17. Welcome and thanks for the encouraging words.
  18. Great example. Drew Brees was traded by the team that drafted him. Sometimes, it takes time and being surrounded by talent before a FRANCHISE QB blossoms.
  19. While Teddy might end up being cut this June, I believe there is a good case for keeping him 1 more year as a backup. Then trade/cut him after the 2021 season. What would be the cap hit for 2022 if Teddy were cut next year, 5 mil?
  20. Finding someone to take on Teddy's contract is likely going to cost the Panthers bodies or picks. Might be better off keeping him around 1 more year and then cutting him after the season ends. That should set the team up for success in 2022. Don't see Carolina making a serious run in 2021 anyway.
  21. Sam is a relatively low risk when it comes to what the Panthers have given up to get him. He potentially has a high reward. Worst case scenario, Sam doesn't work out, but at least the Panthers haven't given up the farm and crippled the team for years to get him.
  22. Exactly. Panthers now have realistic options. If they don't like what's available at 8 they should be able to easily trade back for additional picks.
  23. No fan of Marty, but IIRC Turner was advocating for Grier after he publicly vowed the Panthers would not be left without a viable backup.
