  1. If David Tepper wanted to spend tens of millions of dollars a year to make the Carolina Panthers a competitive franchise, you'd think he'd start by hiring an NFL executive with a long history of building winning organizations, not some NFL novice from the college ranks w/a college win rate of .552% and bowl record of 1-3.
  2. Who designs a stage like that? Serious safety issues (obviously).
  3. No one involved in this incident comes out unscathed...
  4. If Panthers go through with this Watson trade... there'll be no happy ending.
  5. Unless David Tepper has some magic beans to trade for Watson, the Panthers cupboards are bare. Way to go Fhule!
  6. Other than David Tepper and those contractually required to, who is going to listen to anything Matt Rhule has to say?
  7. Overpaying for multiple QBs (three seasons in a row) is what happens to NFL owners that believe their biggest area of concern is on the field rather than on the sidelines.
  8. If Michigan's outfits are an indication of what the rest of the league looks like, Carolina Panthers would win the uniform contest in the USFL as well So we've got that going for us, which is nice. Carolina Panthers: Two League Uniform Champions! Actual football, not so much.
  9. This should be the crux of the argument against the Panthers going after Cousins. Panthers would just be digging the hole they're already in that much deeper.
  10. Going into year three with Rhule, I'm getting the distinct impression that he thinks he's required to pay for a minimum of two starting QBs. One QB for the Panthers and one former Panthers QB to play for some other team. Rhule is burning up about 40M a year on QBs when half that amount would get just as good of a performance (maybe better) from the position.
  11. Yeah, he's not the only one... Kirk Cousins is likely changing his underwear about now at the prospects of ending up in Carolina playing for Matt Rhule.
  12. Rhule's quest for mediocrity continues... TL/DR: Lock up your draft picks and cap space, Rhule's going shopping.
  13. Exactly. Tepper after firing Ron Rivera: “Marty Hurney is one of the best recognizers of college talent in the nation. Period, OK,” Tepper said. “I don’t want to lose that. And he’s also not a bad manager.” https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/12/03/panthers-owner-doesnt-want-to-lose-g-m-marty-hurney/ David Tepper has demonstrated horrible judgement and done everything ass backwards when it comes to staffing this organization. The way forward for David Tepper: Find the most qualified/experienced NFL executive with a winning track record and hire them to do a search for your next GM. Hire that GM and then step back and let them build your team.
  14. David Gettleman might not believe in windows, but I bet he believes in doors. He's been shown THE door at least twice in recent memory.
  15. Or keep who we've got and allow better football minds (hopefully) to make these decisions once Matt Rhule is fired later this year.
  16. Rhule signing Jimmy G wouldn't make the Panthers a joke, it would make them a tragedy.
  17. How do you know you've hired the wrong guy as HC? When (two years into his contract) you have to educate him on what qualifications to look for when hiring a coaching staff. See first post for the correct answer. Any owner that has to direct his HC to fire his hand picked assistants (and hire experienced NFL coaches) has the wrong HC.
  18. It wouldn't surprise me if it turns out Matt tried to hire someone from the Jets organization, but couldn't close the deal. That would be classic Matt Rhule.
  19. This. We can talk about probabilities based on past performance but the reality is we have a Head Coach that is in over his head and has made horrible choices for the last two years. Until Matt Rhule is gone this team is going nowhere fast.
  20. The first AFL-NFL Championship (retroactively called Super Bowl I) wasn't until 1967, so it would be disingenuous to go back further than that year, without including the championship winners prior that time. If we did, we'd soon discover teams like the Browns, Lions and Bears were often among the best teams (league champions) in the NFL/AAFC. TL/DR: History Matters
