Bruce Arians retiring from coaching
NanuqoftheNorth replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
This storyline (Worst Coach/Greatest Longevity) would be rejected in any scary movie script as "too unbelievable". Yet, somehow the Carolina Panthers have managed to make it our reality. -
Matt Rhule dresses like a goddamn slob
NanuqoftheNorth replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Carrying that much excess weight around at Rhule's age can't be healthy. I hope he gets some help and loses a good 50lbs or more. -
Hornets Sign Isaiah Thomas For Remainder Of Season
NanuqoftheNorth replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
Gotta say, the guy looks and plays great for a 60 year old! -
Bill wanted more control in Carolina after the first season, JR wanted his sons to take the reins, it all went downhill from there.

That's not surprising considering how he is portrayed in the series. Not sure that "Drive to Survive" missed the mark by much on Max. Especially considering how last season played out between him and Lewis Hamilton.

Baker Mayfield's situation in 2021 was superior in every respect to what the Panthers could possibly provide in 2022. Like all other QB's under Matt Rhule, Baker Mayfield will underperform in an historic fashion. Tepper needs to stop this madness already. Hit the reset button on head coach. Until the Dave does that, changing QBs every season will be about as useful as giving a bike to a fish.

Panthers have the Worst odds to make the Playoffs in the NFC
NanuqoftheNorth replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
And let's not forget, Panthers have the worst HC not fired after the 2021 season. Anyone still wondering why the Panthers are voted "least likely to succeed in 2022 hasn't been paying attention. -
To turn a phrase, Hate the coaching, not the coach. I have no problem with Matt Rhule that wouldn't be solved with him finding a new employer.

This would be the smart move and likely why it won't happen.

Matty Water to the Colts for a 3rd rounder.
NanuqoftheNorth replied to NCTHFL0567's topic in Carolina Panthers
What does it say that these same people who were all in on Darnold are still in charge after two historically bad seasons? -
For those with an interest in F1 Netflix has a great series (four seasons so far). Fantastic race day photography, with a look behind the scenes into the team politics and personal journeys of these drivers.

Matty Water to the Colts for a 3rd rounder.
NanuqoftheNorth replied to NCTHFL0567's topic in Carolina Panthers
It will be interesting to see if the Falcons decide to tank or if they throw a ton of resources at being mediocre like the Panthers have these last two seasons. -

With all the activity so far by the Panthers, I don't see them standing pat with the QBs currently on the roster. I also can't see Rhule taking a chance on any of these QBs in the draft saving his bacon. Has Tepper already given assurances to Matt that this won't be a make or break season? That seems unlikely. The coaching staff can't have much confidence in Darnold at this point, can they? So, chances seem good that the Panthers are going to find another vet QB to add to the roster. -

Seattle reportedly lost out to the Colts for Matt's services. There are several teams now looking for veteran QBs. Interesting times. -
Team is still very average
NanuqoftheNorth replied to Lets go get it Canes's topic in Carolina Panthers
Haha, OP must be some sort of optimist! He's calling the Panthers, a team with the worst record in their division, 3rd worst record in the NFC, and 5th worst record in the NFL (during the last 5 years) "still average". Panthers definitely appear to have improved this off season, but "still average"? Nah, Panthers have to achieve mediocre before they can claim to be "still average". TL/DR: OP deserves a Homer Award for claims that the Panthers are "Still Average". -
Rhule will have no excuse
NanuqoftheNorth replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Of course, there is little to no indication that Tepper intends to fire Rhule in the near future. However, if this team does better in 2022, WITHOUT much of the coaching staff Rhule hand picked two years ago, it will say something about Rhule's initial judgement. None of it good. Can Rhule learn and grow as a HC? Of course! He appears to be getting his chance to do so. But just know, it's going to be a hard sell to convince most fans that any improvement in Rhule's third season is due to his efforts. Why? Because this recent whirlwind of changes feels somewhat forced for a Head Coach who just a few months ago claimed: "The plan is working 1000 percent, you just can't see it!" If his claims were true, why make such sweeping changes? 1000 percent indeed. -
Rhule will have no excuse
NanuqoftheNorth replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I'm still missing any justification for keeping Rhule around as HC. He doesn't seem to be particularly good at anything football related. Eliminate Rhule from the equation and this team does as good or better on Sundays this fall. -
Panthers may have never had a HC that brought less to the fight than Rhule. What is this guy really good at? Offense? Defense? Special Teams? Leadership? Culture? If the Panthers offense improves dramatically this coming season will anyone really believe Matt Rhule had anything to do with it? TL/DR: Rhule is about as useful as a vestigial human tail.
-
Who'd a thunk it? Panthers were out Browned by the Browns! 47 million per year! Yikes!

Aaron Rodgers has the well deserved reputation of being a total prick. His huge contract will have negative consequences when it comes to supporting talent. Russell Wilson has the same issue. He couldn't seem to figure out why his supporting cast was never as good as when he was still on a rookie contract.

David Tepper - Come on in here and get this humble pie
NanuqoftheNorth replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
Meh, it should be clear by now, Tepper wants to win. However, more than winning, Dave wants to demonstrate how much smarter he is than all the other owners. He isn't. That's how the Panthers ended up with Rhule. Hopefully, Dave is finally coming to the realization that there are no shortcuts to building a winning organization. TL/DR: David Tepper needs to use his fat wallet to hire a proven winner, the best he can find. An NFL executive that has extensive experience building winning organizations. Then Dave needs to step back and let that man do his job. -
Hopefully, Tepper's Plan B is to fire Rhule and bring in an NFL executive with with an extensive record of building winning football teams.
