A bit sad for Wilks, he truly is a leader of young men, but his conservative nature got the better of him in the last game with Tampa Bay. That sort of cautious approach in today's offensive minded NFL is a deal breaker.

We can all agree, last time Dave Tepper tried to choose a head coach was a complete disaster. I am happy to see that he has been more deliberate in his efforts this time around (and that Marty Hurney is no longer involved). My assumption (and it is admittedly an assumption) of how the interview process has gone so far is based on my impressions of the remaining candidates, which I find less than encouraging. However, for someone to conclude the opposite, that Dave Tepper is doing a great job in the interview process, is no less of a huge assumption. Chances are, none of us will know if Dave got it right for at least another year or two.

The selection of candidates left standing is somewhat worrisome, especially considering those available to choose from only a few weeks ago. It does bring into question the Panthers vetting process.

These interviews go both ways. Any potential candidate has to believe they'll succeed with Tepper and Fitterer as part of the equation. That might be a hard sell for some, especially considering Tepper's track record so far.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and give David Tepper some kudos for what appears to be the Panthers doing their due diligence on this coaching search. Might be totally misreading the tea leaves here, but this search seems to be more deliberate and thorough than David Tepper's first attempt w/Rhule. TL/DR: No need to rush

Wherever David Tepper is right now, watching this game, he can't help but be thinking about what might have been, after having interviewed Mike McCarthy and Matt Rhule for HC and ultimately choosing the wrong guy.

Time for the Panthers to move on from Sean Payton.

Giants and Jaguars overachieved with their first year coaches. Both teams were trash last year. Panthers fans would be stoked if our new coach could accomplish as much this coming season.

Wonder if Rhule is pondering tonight how a second year Eagles HC and a Rookie Giants HC have managed to accomplish so much in so little time? Rhule: Less than seven years? These two coaches are doing the impossible!

While watching the Broncos melt down after every loss is priceless, at some point I'd like to see a team other than KC win the AFCW. Sean Peyton would make the Broncos immediately competitive. Competitive divisional rivalries are what make the games entertaining. Right now the AFCW is rather boring.

Mark Davis should be kicking himself about now for letting Bisaccia go and hiring (a now) two time loser.

While we may have our preconceived notions about Mrs. Tepper, truth is she could be more, or less, or equally competent to Mr. Tepper when it comes to judging coaching candidates. All we have to go by is the Matt Rhule hire. Yikes! There is little reason to believe either of them are actually qualified to judge these candidates, but then again, how many owners really are? IMHO, the best hiring process in Panthers history was prior to the team's first season, when JR (himself a former NFL player) brought in a highly respected group of executives (with a proven history of winning at the NFL level) to build the organization from the ground up. The Panthers had an impressive record out of the gate and year two was even better with a NFC Conference Championship appearance. Unfortunately, it all went to JR's head and he started to meddle. Nepotism reared its ugly head and much of the support staff that built the team moved on, leaving Capers to run the show (with his new ten year contract). It wasn't long after that till the wheels started coming off. One would only hope that Dave and Nicole Tepper are aware of the team's history and learn from it.

One would not necessarily preclude the other.

Our hold on life is extremely tenuous. I've lost count of the number of times I passed within a few feet or a even a few inches of unintentionally cutting my life short. I'm more cautious these days as a survivor and I'd like to think that'll serve me well, but sometimes, you just don't see it coming. Deepest condolences to his family and friends. RIP

The irony here is that for the last several years, Russell Wilson has been demanding more say when it comes to scheme selection, personnel choices and coaching staff decisions. Of all the coaches the Broncos could hire, Sean Payton is the least likely of all of them to welcome Russell's input.

Tepper's response was once considered an act of common decency in this country. It appears, for a few posters here, decency isn't as common as it once was.

Nicole Tepper is most likely first in line to own/control the Panthers in the event that David Tepper is unable to do so. We have a real world example: Paul Allen, owner of the Seahawks, passed away a few years ago resulting in his sister, Jody Allen, acquiring ownership/control of the team. All things considered, she's done an outstanding job.

This. Fangio as DC and one of these highly touted OCs as our new HC would follow the LA Rams approach which seemed to work out rather well.

Pretty sure inclusive hiring means we're all getting job offers from the Panthers! Woo hoo!
