  1. Andy Reid compiled an amazing record as the head coach of the Eagles. Philly rewarded his efforts by firing him. There is a special joy in proving your doubters wrong. I don't have a dog in this fight. Hoping for a well officiated game with no injuries. However, if KC wins I'll be happy for Andy Reid.
  2. Haha, Who'll be next? Ron's seat is reportedly getting rather hot as the Commanders sale is expected to close prior to the beginning of the 2023 season.
  3. I certainly hope we draft our long term solution at QB this year or next, but I'm not expecting instant gratification. Part of the enjoyment of the game is watching players mature and eventually dominate their positions. That usually takes a few seasons to come to fruition. When it comes to Rhule, all you have to do is look at all the 1 and 2 year turn arounds of former cellar dwelling teams to realize his theory about needing 7 years is nothing but BS.
  4. I would have expected this sort of post during the midst of Rhule's reign of terror, but not now, not today. Seeing all the talented and experienced coaches being hired during the last few weeks should give all Panthers fans renewed hope of great things to come. It should also be taken as a positive sign that David Tepper is capable of admitting when he's wrong and willing to take the steps needed to correct his errors. In short it is all good. Enjoy the ride.
  5. Rhule's staff vs. Reich's staff is like the difference between night and day. Panthers are going from amateur hour to professional grade. It really is good know experts are in the building and fans finally have a good reason for being optimistic about the Panthers future.
  6. Does this restriction apply until 15 March when free agency begins?
  7. What would it take to convince you Reich's staff should commit to Sam Darnold as their veteran QB next season? Surely Reich's staff won't make a decision without doing their own due diligence would they? What would that entail? Review of Sam's previous games seems like a given of course. In depth Q/A sessions to test his knowledge, decision making skills and response time? Actual workouts to test his agility, both mental and physical? What else? What other tests/research does Reich's staff need to conduct prior to giving Sam Darnold another opportunity to redeem himself? Or is Sam Darnold a lost cause?
  8. Yep, Steve Smith is an awesome receiver, but one horrible example of a mentor.
  9. I wonder what Brock Purdy (Mr. Irrelevant) would have looked like if he were here in Carolina this season? Not saying Corral is another Brock Purdy in the making, but QBs don't exist in a vacuum. Coaching, scheme and teammates play a crucial role in the success or failure of a QB. I've got to believe that a Reich led team dramatically improves any QBs chances of success compared to their chances under Rhule or even Rivera.
  10. I don't believe anyone here has an issue with Sam Darnold's physical capabilities as a QB. It's what is or isn't between the ears that's the problem. If this new coaching staff believes they can somehow reboot Darnold's brain more power to them. I'll have to see it to believe it.
  11. I'd be shocked if Reich doesn't keep a veteran QB on the roster regardless of the QB drafted.
  12. I can't recall anyone associated with the Panthers organization (ever) that is more capable of judging QB talent/potential than Frank Reich. If Reich sees something in Darnold worth salvaging, Sam might be retained for another season. However, I can't envision Reich relishing the thought of standing at a podium post game trying to justify to fans and reporters why he retained Sam Darnold for another season. Especially once the losses start adding up due to bone headed plays/turnovers and "missed opportunities". I certainly wouldn't want to try and justify it to David Tepper. The owner who wanted to move on from Sam Darnold so badly he was willing to sign a sexual deviant to a record setting contract less than a year ago. Sometimes (and this feels like it might be one of those times) it is just better to start fresh by getting rid of the last regime's toxic baggage.
  13. Is anyone here going to be shocked if this happens? Should be able to sign him for about 5 mil.
  14. Panthers shouldn't move on from PJ Walker and Sam Darnold simply for the sake of change. The Panthers should move on from PJ and Sam because there are numerous journeyman QBs with more playing experience and better game day results sitting at home on their couches. The bar for replacing these two with better talent is a low one. Add the fact that Reich and his OC are likely to install a new offense this coming season and it is hard to come up with a justification as to why the Panthers should bother keeping either of these QBs.
  15. Hmm, very interesting. https://www.chron.com/sports/texans/article/josh-mccown-texans-coach-17626293.php
  16. I'm going to take this as a good sign that the Panthers are fairly confident they'll be able to hire their preferred OC. Expect hirings for the offense to kick into high gear next week.
  17. Reich has historically coached his QBs to their career best performances/seasons. Considering Darnold's previous coaches, I have little doubt that Reich could improve Sam's game. Also, I'd be surprised if the Panthers didn't have a veteran QB on the team come regular season. Having said that, I doubt the Panthers first choice for veteran QB would be Sam Darnold, but he is probably an option if Plan A or B doesn't work out.
  18. While not impossible, the first round is the hardest round to screw up on. Yeah, Marty struck gold more often than not in the first round, but he also had a penchant for offering up future first round picks to chase questionable talent. As fans we were fortunate that his generous offers to other teams weren't always accepted or we would have been left with several years where the Panthers didn't have a draft pick in the first round. If memory serves, that would include the first round pick that was ultimately used to pick Cam. The season prior he wanted to use it to move up in the draft to get Pickles. Fortunately no team took him up on the offer (turns out we still got Pickles, just didn't have to waste a future #1 pick to get him).
  19. Wow! Well deserved! Touching story from a dedicated fan! Keep Pounding!
  20. Richardson will likely be available at 9 if the Panthers want him. Trading up to 3 in the draft would be a strong indication that Marty Hurney is back in the building.
  21. At this point, it seems pretty much a given that the Panthers will sign a veteran QB and draft another one. However, I can't envision Tepper or Reich signing up for another year of Sam Darnold. Carr or Garoppolo would be a significant improvement from what the Panthers have been accustom to these last few seasons. Either one would make the team significantly more competitive within the NFCS until the team's draft pick was ready to take over. Panthers also have Corral as a dark horse. Who knows what Reich might be able to accomplish with Matt given enough time?
