  2. From the Seattle Times 4 March... https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/qa-what-exactly-does-all-this-talk-about-russell-wilson-being-unhappy-mean-for-the-seahawks/
  3. Is it worrisome? Yes. Are Tepper's words taken out of context? Are they even his words to begin with? Who knows? What we do know. Just about anyone with two eyes can see the answer at QB is NOT on the roster. So Tepper possibly being emphatic about finding a new QB would be understandable. Also, sports analysts are constantly seeking attention, so sensationalism is often part of their schtick. Bottom line: Hampering the Panthers future by signing a QB at "all costs" would seem like an irrational decision to me. Tepper doesn't strike me as man that acts irrationally.
  4. File this under: Recognizes and Corrects Errors.
  5. There is no compelling evidence of Tepper's involvement beyond playing an active role in choosing Rhule and revamping the business side of the organization. Both good decisions. Get off his nuts already!
  6. I'm not gonna lie, I am somewhat concerned about our new GM. Seattle's last 5 drafts have left a lot to be desired. It doesn't help that Seahawks recent drafts could have been managed by Marty Hurney. Their focus on RBs and LBs, while simultaneously failing to build an effective Oline hits a little too close to home. At this point, I'm gonna attribute the good results of the Panthers 2020 draft mostly to Rhule. Will Matt and Scott have the ability to effectively collaborate? That will tell the tale. Bottom line: Cautiously Optimistic
  7. Teddy was a decent backup for New Orleans and would likely be the same for the 49ers. Hopefully the Panthers are willing to let Bridgewater go for a song.
  8. By all means, explore every possible avenue towards improving the team, including negotiations for Watson. If the Panthers end up getting Watson at a fire sale discount, by all means pull the trigger! I simply don't see it happening. Having said that, anything is possible.
  9. We have a small core of talented players, many of which have been speculated to be part of a trade deal for Watson. This team is easily in the lower half of the league when it comes to having talented players. As you say, the Panthers also lack depth at just about every position imaginable. I can't see where taking on a huge contract of a QB, while giving up core players and high draft picks for multiple years, bodes well for the future of this franchise. My advice to the Panthers leadership would be... When you're in a hole stop digging.
  10. What we believe will happen and what we know has happened are two entirely different things. What we know has happened is that Mahomes was on his rookie contract and that KC had already built a playoff caliber team before Patrick became a starter. Again, we know Tom prioritized winning championships over getting record breaking contracts. Also, Tampa had already built a talented team of top draft picks thanks to years of failure before Tom Brady ever arrived. Breaking the bank and giving away the farm for a franchise QB prior to building a strong core of players is the Exact Opposite of what the "last few winning Super Bowl teams" have done.
  11. Mahomes was still on his rookie contract. The other teams were led by Tom Brady.
  12. There are a lot of good reasons for Watson to hate the leadership in Houston, but how tolerant do you expect him to be when the Panthers fail to surround him with talent? That is the road the Panthers are going down by taking on Deshaun's huge contract while giving up several high draft picks for multiple years and several key players to boot. Panthers new management was brought in specifically because they could create a championship team from the ground up over the course of several seasons. Now we are betting the farm on a single player at the end of year one. Sounds like fans were sold a bill of goods.
  13. Poor drafting is part of the problem, misallocating assets is the other. Drafting a franchise QB on a relatively cheap contract and surrounding him with talent is still the best strategy because most QB's aren't going to do a Tom Brady.
  14. Seattle gave Wilson a record breaking contract. While Wilson is a great QB (A fact many Panther fans refuse to acknowledge) Seahawks reaching the Super Bowl twice was in large part due to a dominant defense and running attack. Today, Seahawks have neither and that is in large part to misallocation of assets (money) forcing them to go cheap in areas of need.
  15. Never said a player wasn't "well within his right" to get paid. Just don't expect to be surrounded by talented players as long as the NFL has a cap.
  16. The winning NFL template has been out there for the last two decades. Well coached organization that doesn't dedicate too much cap to any one player, allows for a well balanced team capable of winning championships. More often than not, has more draft picks than they were originally allotted. The Herschel Walker/Ricky Williams approach to football is a recipe for disaster.
  17. Good thing we didn't decide to hire our next GM from that organization... Oh, wait, never mind.
  18. Watching the Seahawks here in Seattle on the decline ever since Wilson got paid. Team can no longer afford to surround him with the talent he once had in large part due to the record setting contract he signed a few years ago. Now Wilson is complaining about a lack of talent around him. Team has given up multiple high round draft picks to "win now". Does Wilson even see the irony? Doubt it.
  19. Tom Brady could have been the top paid player in the NFL for the last two decades if he chose to be. Instead, Tom chose a different strategy, because he wanted to win championships over "getting paid". Taking on another team's massive QB contract and giving up multiple high draft picks in the process will likely prevent the Panthers from fielding a competitive roster.
  20. Sacrificing Peter to pay Paul isn't the answer. Never has been. Many fans here have spent the last decade complaining that Cam didn't have decent O line and lacked weapons to work with. Panthers are in the bottom half of the league when it comes to on field talent. With cap limitations and a lack of draft picks where is all the talent needed to support Watson coming from? Look no further than the Houston Texans to see what a Watson led future for the Panthers has in store.
  21. You'd think a fanbase who witnessed only 3 winning seasons out of 9 with their last franchise QB would better appreciate that football is still a team sport.
