  1. This. Trading down now would be a classic case of grasping defeat from the jaws of victory.
  2. DJ: Ultimate team player. Played 3D Chess while everyone else played checkers: Highlighted his WR talents and simultaneously fell on his sword (pulled off his helmet) to secure Panthers a higher draft position. Haha, and I bet most of you simply thought he was fuging up on that play. DJ is a legend!
  3. Due to previous trades/picks, I'm not quite on onboard the "Fitterer is a good GM" express just yet. However, Panthers management likes to tell us these sort of decisions are a collaborative effort and I have no reason to doubt that. So, what I'm willing to say is this: Fitterer and Tepper are now keeping company with a much more knowledgeable group of collaborators. Hopefully, that makes for much better results from here on out.
  4. Yep, both teams likely improved with this trade. Win, win situation.
  5. DJ was the cost of doing business with Chicago for the #1 pick. Rebuild? No, but the Panthers will likely trade again to further improve the team. Think of it more like a resto-mod than a rebuild.
  6. Stroud's throwing motion is natural, consistent and seemingly effortless. Truly a thing of beauty. With his strong build and natural throwing motion, Stroud appears to be physically capable of playing for a couple of decades. Just imagine the Panthers not having to worry about finding another franchise QB until 2043.
  7. I don't have to believe it is Stroud, but it is Stroud. Others need not apply.
  8. If the NFL announced tomorrow that it was going to be flag football 100 percent of the time from here on out, Bryce Young would be the obvious QB of choice. Since that isn't likely to happen and Bryce is one 300 pound defensive lineman away from being permanently retired, the correct answer for the Panthers #1 pick is CJ Stroud. Others need not apply.
  9. If this gets the Panthers off the QB carousel for 5-10 years the cost will be well worth it.
  10. Fun Fact: There is an upper limit to what a team can pay a QB and still have a chance of winning a Super Bowl. Since 2000 the only QB to make more than 15 percent of the cap and win a Super Bowl is Patrick Mahomes. Since 2000 the only QBs to make more than 11 percent of the cap and win a Super Bowl are Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and the Manning Bros. NFL CAP for 2023: 224.8 million/team
  11. Until Panthers draft performance improves, fans should remain justifiably skeptical of Scott Fitterer's performance as GM.
  12. Meh, I understand the Panthers putting out a For Sale sign to attract potential buyers for Corral. If a compelling deal doesn't materialize, nothing lost. They can keep Matt around as a camp arm until roster cuts begin. Who knows, maybe he'll end up surprising the decision makers?
  13. The free agency crazy train is about to leave the station...
  14. Agreed. However, contract in hand, I believe Lamar wins the playoff game against the Bengals and this whole discussion about him never takes place. It all comes down to Lamar not having an agent.
  15. IMHO Lamar still has a lot to offer and under the right conditions could still easily flourish as an NFL QB. Unfortunately, Jackson has made crucial error by representing himself rather than hiring an agent. I believe that decision alone has undermined and delayed an agreement with Ravens management on a new contract. With a long term contract signed, sealed and delivered, Lamar most likely suits up vs. the Bengals and Ravens win that playoff game. Instead, Lamar now appears disloyal to the organization and his teammates, difficult in contract negotiations and soft when it comes to dealing with injuries. Of course, none of that may actually be true, but appearances can easily be misconstrued as reality and result in having a negative impact on Lamar's value to the Ravens or another team.
  16. Best Advice for Lamar Jackson: Hire the agent for Deshaun Watson or Daniel Jones ASAP. Then, rent a Brinks truck to load up all your money. Or, take a season off to reflect on how stupid it has been to represent yourself in contract negotiations.
  17. Spoiler Alert! Until the Panthers have a legitimate veteran QB signed and draft their future franchise QB, anyone with a twitter account can claim the Panthers are likely to have interest in ______________ (fill in the blank).
  18. Possibly, but I wouldn't be too sure about that. Raiders offense would really cook with Lamar onboard.
  19. Chicago has the cap space. They should negotiate a trade of Fields for Lamar. It would instantly make the Bears more competitive and the Ravens would have another young QB to develop. Something they seem to be good at doing.
  20. I wouldn't expect anything less considering it's the offseason, Lamar is high profile and thousands of twitter accounts are trolling for traffic. Nothing like a good conspiracy theory to generate more clicks.
  21. Yeah, but does he really want to sit on the couch during his prime earning years? I doubt it. 75% or even 50% of a guaranteed pie is better than 100% of nothing.
  22. Yeah, Lamar's upside is too great for him to sit out the coming season. Somebody will take the chance, my guess is it ends up being the Ravens with or without the assist of another team's negotiations. Also, Lamar hire an agent.
  23. Is it? A decade ago for sure it would be, before the twitter verse. Today, every team without a QB or in need of an upgrade has likely been asked by dozens of sports reporters (in a matter of moments) if they intend to pursue Lamar. Is it surprising that they are cool to the idea, knowing what we know when it comes to salary, picks and injury concerns? Chances are Jackson is going to ultimately sign with the Ravens after further discussions. That's the best course of action for both parties
