  1. Cam was looking for a new long term contract from the Panthers. His ability to play an entire season w/his nagging shoulder injury was a legitimate concern for management. We had some great years with Cam, but it was time to move on.
  2. Do you think Cam was prepared to accept the same sort of short term contract w/performance incentives playing for Carolina that he has received from the Patriots? I certainly don't.
  3. Not as expensive a diet as you might imagine either.
  4. Not sure Jackson is the long term answer. His performance has been mixed up to now and this is a contract year. If he is looking for a big payday the Panthers might do better to look elsewhere or draft his replacement during the off season.
  5. Good for Rhule! Sam's issue isn't physical. He can run and make all the throws. Darnold's weakness is making good decisions in a timely fashion. Forcing Sam to interpret defenses and make quicker decisions is the only way he is going to improve and ultimately be successful in this league.
  6. Haha, How about teaming Smitty with Mick Mixon in the broadcast booth? How long do you think that might last?
  7. Somebody should have told Earl Thomas that "you never cross the streams."
  8. Anybody know if Vinny Testaverde is still available? Yeah, the pickins appear to be slim at the moment.
  9. It would have been nice to have a veteran backup on board by now to give the maximum amount of time to learn the system and work with the receivers. Guess the Panthers are waiting to see which other team's QBs don't make the cut.
  10. True, one team's trash is another team's treasure.
  11. Most of us are hoping Sam Darnold turns out to be a good investment, but if he isn't the Panthers will be in contention for the worst lineup of QBs in the league. Carolina definitely needs to bring in a veteran to back Sam up. Can't believe a team with Panthers recent history of backup QB failure didn't do more to strengthen their bench by now.
  12. Peyton Manning could barely pass the ball beyond the line of scrimmage. The Broncos offense was pathetic. If Ron had adjusted to account for Denver's repeated hits Cam, Panthers win the SB in a blowout. Also, Ron kept Mike Tolbert around when anyone with two eyes could tell he was useless as fullback.
  13. Yeah, Ron wasn't consistent, couldn't win back-to-back seasons, so in that respect he wasn't even good. JR should have gone with his gut feeling and fired Ron (along with Hurney) in 2012. Missed opportunities.
  14. The Panthers were the more talented team, but our coaching staff was second best. Given an entire off season Ron still couldn't solve the lack of protection for Cam and we lost to the Broncos yet again. Ron is good at taking a crappy team and making them good, but don't expect him to adjust on the fly or match wits with the best. 9 seasons as a HC says he doesn't have that in him.
  15. Ron was the biggest reason. In spite of all the questionable calls by the refs, the Panthers had their opportunities and failed to execute. Had Ron changed plays up even a little and given Cam a moment or two more w/adequate O-line protection, the Panthers win that game in a rout. Ron's complacency cost the Panthers a championship.
  16. If Horn forces QBs to hold onto the ball a fraction longer than they did last year, Panthers DTs like Brown will be feasting.
  17. Mick seems like a decent guy and I wish him all the best, but he's about 17 years too late taking retirement.
  18. If Robby actually loves TB so much, Panthers should look to do another deal with Denver.
  19. What is this annual obsession w/changing the Panthers uniforms? Panthers have been around for 26 years and: Haven't won a Super Bowl. Don't have back to back winning seasons. But, what we do have are the "Greatest Uniforms in NFL History". https://totalpackers.com/2013/07/remember-that-greatest-nfl-uniforms-contest/ https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Daily/Issues/2013/07/25/Franchises/Panthers.aspx Those were the days my friends. We thought they'd never end.
  20. If I were Rhule, I'd feel very uncomfortable with Panthers QB options if Darnold was unable to play. Quite honestly, I'm surprised the team didn't bring in a more experienced vet QB prior to OTAs.
  21. Right now? None. Hopefully, the Panthers will be good enough this season to renew some old rivalries and create some new ones. But they'll have to improve significantly for that to happen.
  22. As long as Jones ends up outside of the NFCS it is a win for the Panthers.
