  1. In my mind, if you're intent on building a team for the long haul, you don't risk precious draft capitol on longshots within the first year or two. Once the foundation is in place, perhaps, but not before. If the QB you want isn't available immediately, find a placeholder that keeps the team competitive till your guy (or someone similar) comes along. Same goes for picking inexperienced coaching staff. Why??? Rhule reminds me of a gambler on a losing streak.
  2. The worst part of all this wasn't that Rhule took a calculated risk on Sam Darnold. The worst part of all this was Rhule had no Plan B when Sam Darnold didn't work out.
  3. The more Matt Rhule has to justify his QB decisions going into season two, the less likely he's around for season three. The QB controversy is only going to get more intense as this season progresses.
  4. Physical talent isn't enough in the NFL, for whatever reason, Sam just doesn't have the ability to process the what he is seeing real time on a consistent basis.
  5. Dom Capers was fired in 1998, two years after signing a Ten year deal with the Jerry Richardson's Panthers. Yeah, tightwad JR is a pauper compared to David Tepper. Is firing Rhule two years into his seven year contract possible? It's more than possible, right now I say it's likely.
  6. The Panthers players will determine Rhule's fate. If they lose faith in him, Rhule is as good as gone at the end of this season. If they keep the faith, Rhule has one more season to get it right. There will be no fourth chance, unless Tepper enjoys seeing BOA stadium overrun with opponents fans.
  7. Exactly, he can look at the numbers and realize he'd be better off paying Rhule his $50 million left and getting a better coach, who will potentially actually fill the stadium. A half empty stadium for a whole season is probably a bigger loss than just paying off Rhule and moving on. This.
  8. Rhule would have a hard time justifying going into next season without a veteran backup. It is comically bad how this franchise has ignored this issue for years and every year it bites them in the ass.
  9. I suspect Tepper will give Rhule a third season to prove himself, but his decisions, when it comes to OC, O line and QBs these last two seasons brings Matt's judgement into serious question.
  10. Looks like Rhule missed his calling, because the NFL ain't it.
  11. Panthers haven't had a viable backup QB on the roster since Derek Anderson left. How long ago was that, 5 or 6 years now? Likely had a big role to play in Rivera's termination. Rhule would likely be facing charges for dereliction of duty if he were in the military. Major malpractice if he were in healthcare, but no, Matt is only being paid millions to run a football organization and after almost two seasons, Rhule still hasn't found anyone capable enough to play the most important position on the roster, much less that person's backup.
  12. Yeah, when it comes to rehabbing a QB with Sam's issues, the Panthers have to be the worst case scenario. He needed to sit behind a vet for at least a year before seeing any gameday action and even then only behind a decent O line w/an experienced OC feeding him the plays. He has none of that here in Carolina. What the hell was Rhule and company thinking?
  13. There is little to no enjoyment in watching a team supposedly in the rebuilding mode repeatedly shoot itself in the foot when it comes to key personnel decisions. I still find enjoyment in watching NFL teams with competent leadership, but the Panthers are damn near unwatchable at this point.
  14. Yeah, it does look like that is what they're attempting to do. Too bad Rhule and company have no idea what they're doing when it comes to evaluating QBs.
  15. Meh, if Tepper owns up to his mistake in hiring Rhule and brings in new staff with a record of success in the NFL he'll buy my good will for at least a few more seasons. If instead he decides to ride the Rhule bus off a cliff for another season or two I'll be forced to find more enjoyable things to do with my Sunday afternoons.
  16. The Panthers have cornered he market on CBs while going dumpster diving for QBs and O linemen. It's almost like Panthers management doesn't know what they're doing.
  17. Who wants Matt Rhule and company making future personnel decisions and offering more costly contracts to underperforming players? Time to put an end to the Matt Rhule era.
  18. Tepper needs to stop the bleeding and cut his losses.
  19. Panther fans can only hope you are right.
  20. Not sure how Tepper can justify keeping this coaching staff another year.
  21. You'd hope whoever made these bad decisions would be held accountable.
  22. Moral of the Story: When you find yourself in a hole, STOP digging!
