  1. Woosh! Right over your head (again). The Thread's Title: MJ in talks to sell majority stake of the Hornets. Stating the Obvious: Yeah, it takes more than just having money to win, but without it, owners can't compete. Question: Why would any fan of the Hornets want cash strapped owners (poorer than MJ)?
  2. What have the Hornets actually accomplished? Good cash liquidity is an essential element of building a competitive NBA team. It can't be done on a shoestring. If you don't have good cash liquidity, you have no realistic chance. Want to kill whatever enthusiasm is left for the Hornets in Charlotte? Bring in an ownership group less financially capable than MJ.
  3. Damn. The very least MJ could do at this point is to sell the team to a group that will take the Hornets to the next level. Cash strapped owners would likely provide a poor product, diminish fan engagement and eventually fall prey to some billionaire looking for an NBA team to relocate. Bobcats/Hornets can't seem to catch a break.
  4. Hopefully MJ won't sell the Hornets to some cash strapped owners. Shades of George Shinn selling to a group (with Atlanta connections) that ended up moving the team to New Orleans. Can't believe I'm saying this, but David Tepper has the cash to turn the Hornets into a decent team.
  5. DJ sounds like someone who just got out of a dysfunctional relationship and is still trying to process what happened to him. Considering the QBs he had to work with I can hardly blame him. Good luck DJ, I hope you find your happy place.
  6. Meh, as much as I will always appreciate D'onta's season w/the Panthers, this news is bearable.
  7. To be fair to Marty, his specialty was RBs and LBs.
  8. #4) Don't forget picking up Sam Darnold's 5th year option as well.
  9. I'd say Mr. Tepper has gone a long way in redeeming himself by finally realizing he isn't going to outsmart and outplay 31 other teams by bringing in an outsider with virtually no pro football experience. I would have thought it would have been obvious from day one that Mr. Tepper's only real advantage over other teams was an unlimited budget to hire his coaching staff. So, why not try and hire the most experienced and successful NFL coaches you can find? It took him five years, but the good news is, it appears that Mr. Tepper and the Panthers are finally heading in the right direction.
  10. All of this^^^sounds an awful lot like teaching, learning, physical workouts, practices, competition, cooperation and coordination. Just way too complex in this age of instant gratification. Don't tell me the truth. Tell me what I want to hear!
  11. Who are you trying to kid? It's not even close to reasonable. 5 games, 5 Super Bowls! Anything less should result in a house cleaning at Panthers HQ by the end of this year!
  12. Sounds like the Panthers offer to Foreman is still on the table if he wants it.
  13. Wouldn't be surprised to see Foreman picked up by Detroit after the way he ran all over them last season.
  14. Did not know until recently that any team interested in negotiating with Lamar is REQUIRED to create the needed cap space for his contract PRIOR to beginning negotiations. That likely means restructuring existing contracts and not resigning players that you'd otherwise keep. No small task, with little realistic chance of signing Lamar. That alone would likely discourage many potential suitors. https://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/lamar-jackson-franchise-tag-possible-outcomes#:~:text=It requires a team to,him to sign a deal.
  15. Lamar was offered guaranteed generational wealth, despite his history of injuries and production trending downwards. I don't know if the players union is giving Lamar bad advice or it's his close friends and associates, regardless this sort of situation is reason #1 why having an agent to cut through all the noise is well worth the expense.
  16. Should be obvious, but "No doubt in my mind" tells you a whole lot about David Carr's thought processes and next to nothing about what the Panthers are contemplating at the moment. Begs the question, who cares what David Carr thinks?
  17. Scuttlebutt says: Dalton insists on being paid with ginger bread.
  18. Agreed. This signing makes it LESS likely that the Panthers draft anyone other than Young or Stroud. Dalton is a backup NOT a bridge.
  19. Nuyk, nuyk, nuyk! Did somebody say pie fight?
