  1. Well, if he gets it right the next time the odds improve to 50-50.
  2. Up and coming coaches believe in themselves and want an opportunity to prove it as a head coach. The Panthers job isn't ideal, but how many teams that fire their head coaches are? Winning organizations rarely have head coach openings. I'm sure Tepper is more than capable of making an offer that will be hard to refuse.
  3. If he were the commissioner of the Big 12 that would be one thing, he was the head coach of a couple of teams that were never going to seriously challenge the top tier teams in college football. Hence mid-tier.
  4. Once upon a time there was a tavern Where we used to raise a glass or two Remember how we laughed away the hours And think of all the great things we would do … Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way
  5. So does Tepper. Instead he chose to rely on Marty Hurney as his advisor and took a flyer on a mid-tier college coach. Time for Tepper to deploy the heavy artillery and bring in a successful former NFL executive to help guide him through the process of building a championship organization. Marty Hurney and Matt Rhule ain't cutting it.
  6. Anything is possible, but I have one question for you... When was the last time the Pittsburg Steelers hired a head coach that didn't start off with a winning season and didn't have an overall winning record? Answer: 1966
  7. The curse of Jerry Richardson's statue is upon us!
  8. In one way, Hurney and Rhule could be the same guy. Both are socially adept at charming their boss' socks off. That has resulted in Marty and Matt being promoted to their respective levels of incompetence. It is just "dumb luck" that Panthers fans have witnessed lighting strike twice in the same place within a matter of years.
  9. Rhule's appears to prefer to keep the same close cadre of support personnel with him wherever he goes. I suspect he doesn't like outsiders or newcomers and that Hurney was gonna be forced out at the first opportunity Rhule had. If I had to guess, Rhule doesn't like the idea that anyone in an organization knows more than he does. And yeah, I'm talking about Marty Hurney.
  10. Well, it's not logical, but I'm still for it.
  11. Tepper's wealth has reportedly grown from 10 billion to approximately 16 billion just in the last few years. Still, it remains difficult for mere mortals to comprehend how insignificant 50 million dollars is to Dave's bottom line. Firing Rhule is the cost of doing business and a potential tax deduction for Tepper.
  12. Dave Tepper is building quite a legacy for himself as the Panthers owner.
  13. Classic trying to do too much to save a struggling team. Cam has a long history of saving the Panthers so it is hard to blame him for trying, but this team is beyond saving.
  14. And this is why there is no reason for Panthers fans to have hope as long as Rhule is in charge. Hard to believe Dave Tepper still doesn't see it.
  15. I'm not sure Tepper appreciates how bad Rhule really is. As Panthers fans that have been here since the team's inception, even our 1-15 season was better than what we're witnessing with Rhule. At least the 1-15 team was competitive and was in almost every contest until the end. Rhules teams are often being blown out by the dregs of the NFL.
  16. I know you have been one of the most loyal Panthers fans and I'm sorry it has come to this. Hopefully, Tepper doesn't wait another year to do the right thing. Dave needs to send Rhule and his staff packing. ASAP
  17. You could be right, but 50 million relative to Tepper's wealth, is like you or I finding loose change in our pockets. It is also the cost of doing business and a tax write-off.
  18. Yeah, Rhule's termination shouldn't even be a debate in Tepper's mind at this point. Only a question of when to drop the axe.
  19. Hey! Don't be dissing my alma mater that way! The East Meck Eagles would destroy Matt Rhule's Panthers!
  20. That extension set off alarms and red flags. At that point I knew the Panthers were in trouble. Made no sense at all.
