What draft picks do we have left?
NanuqoftheNorth replied to ThPantherFan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We'd be doing CMC a solid as well. No signs at this point that the Panthers are prepared to get their poo together. They certainly won't as long as Matt's in charge. -

Panthers draft situation is a disaster for 2022 w/nothing to show for it. It's almost like Hurney never left the building. -
NFL announces the passing of John Madden.
NanuqoftheNorth replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh yeah, John Madden was the best in his day. Raiders were the winningest team (of all the teams in professional sports) back in Madden's time. As a Panthers fan it is jaw dropping to view the Raiders W/L record for their first 25 years in comparison to our own. -
No doubt, Harbaugh is a proven commodity when it comes to coaching in the NFL. We could do worse and are currently doing worse than Harbaugh. As tempting as the prospect of a proven winner like Harbaugh is, I can't help but think it would all end very badly (with the culture clash that would be inevitable).

NFL announces the passing of John Madden.

His 1976 Super Bowl Championship team was amazing! His Raiders teams were dominant in the 60s and 70s. Still a lot of his players around, many of them are Hall of Famers. Hope they get to speak at his memorial service. RIP John Madden gained fame in a decade-long stint as the coach of the renegade Oakland Raiders, making it to seven AFC title games and winning the Super Bowl following the 1976 season. He compiled a 103-32-7 regular-season record, and his .759 winning percentage is the best among NFL coaches with more than 100 games. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/12/29/john-madden-hall-of-fame-coach-and-broadcaster-dies-at-85.html -
And at the risk of belaboring the point... Dave Tepper (after announcing Hurney's firing): Marty Hurney's a very good evaluator and has a lot of good aspects to him. Me and Matt both learned from Marty a lot. https://www.panthers.com/news/david-tepper-sometimes-students-have-to-graduate Are we doomed as a franchise?

True. However, some coaches personalities are better suited for college ball. This article suggests that Harbaugh may prefer coaching at the college level because it allows him to have more control over his players. https://www.businessinsider.com/why-49ers-got-rid-of-jim-harbaugh-2014-12#:~:text=Harbaugh won 44 regular-season,four years with the 49ers.&text=The overwhelming consensus is that, couldn't work there anymore.

While true, Jim has a reputation for not playing well with others. If rumors that Matt Rhule is clashing with the Panthers southern culture are true, imagine the pushback that Jim Harbaugh would generate within the organization.

Here are the records of the under .500 coaches beyond their second season: Butch Davis 16-16 4 Seasons (24-35) Nick Saban 15-17 2 seasons (returned to college) Doug Marrone 15-17 7 seasons (38-60) Kliff Kingsbury 13-18-1 3 seasons (23-23-1) Steve Spurrier 12-20 2 seasons (returned to college) Greg Schiano 11-21 2 seasons (returned to college) Matt Rhule 10-21 2 seasons (?) Bobby Petrino 3-10 less than 1 season This suggests the odds are stacked against Matt Rhule being a success in the NFL.

This pretty much covers it. Matt Rhule is only guilty of being inept at his job. No need to hate the guy. Unfortunately, Matt's job has a massive impact on the Panthers organization. He is the living embodiment of the Peter Principle, promoted above his level of competence. The fact that Matt continues to be employed by the Panthers despite his incompetence isn't his fault.

rayzor: "We don't want no team that's ok with losing"
NanuqoftheNorth replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
I shudder at the thought of Matt Rhule being given a third year. This organization could be handicapped for years thanks to Matt's ineptitude. -

Robby Anderson: “We don’t want no fake fans”

I'm convinced Robby must be the paid mouthpiece of Matt Rhule. There is no other way to justify his salary. -

Imagine how low the Panthers have sunk as a franchise when Robby Anderson thinks it's his place to lecture the fans. Robbie isn't worthy of holding Steve Smith's jock strap. -

It's been five years since the Panthers had a winning season. I guarantee the boo birds will fly away once the Panthers win more than they lose. -
