  1. You can still tag and trade from the non-exclusive tag - the power there is it allows him and us to get a realistic value for him. Right now he is stuck on $30M....if he knows no one will give him that he may back down to a more realistic number and we can extend.
  2. Although I agree having more money means you can get better talent, everyone has more money now - which means there will be LESS talent available for us to get. The two scenarios will cancel each other out....not much changed for us truthfully.
  3. This is actually better for us on the Burns situation - non-exclusive tag him....teams are more likely to give him $30M which means TWO FIRST ROUND PICKS FOR US. We have to build this team to win in 2-3 years, not 2024.....there is ZERO chance we can gather enough assets this offseason....we need picks and cash for 2025. This would solve both issues
  4. Too much money invested to give up yet....not enough to be jaded
  5. Personally a little too negative to me. Bryce I would give no worse than a C. Biggest issues were pocket awareness, holding the ball too long, and fumbling when hit too often. His errant throws were much less than Baker, Darnold, a ton less than Cam from what I saw and those guys weren't rookies. I saw enough flashes to give him a C but enough issues to believe it might be a D when we can see clearly who he is without the other issues. Mingo I give a C but I also think he was used horribly - he was shoved in the "X" receiver role and was completely not ready - Day 1 he was given way too many targets and got overwhelmed. I still think he could be the level of the guys you mentioned but I blame the coaching staff much more than Mingo at this point. DJ was a terrible pick - trading up was a waste - the guy did nothing - absolute F. Yes he is a rookie, so why not the same pass as previous 2? Cause he is 25 years old....if he doesn't have it now he ain't gonna get it. Massive reach and we failed Zavala I do give some credit - injuries didn't allow him to be ready and he got forced into service and overwhelmed like Mingo. C for now Jammie was a 5th round pick - not a ton of expectation to live up to, so hard to give an F....I would still say C since he wasn't expected to do much
  6. Yep - that is why I like the non-exclusive tag - let him go try and get his $30M - if he does we get 2 first round picks. If he doesn't we sign and trade. But at least we don't let him walk and get nothing more than a late 3rd round pick.
  7. Gotta agree here - sometimes you gotta let go - shoulda traded him and we missed, but now we have to get the trade done as best we can.
  8. Looking at the available options and the current situation I think we end up using the non-exclusive tag. That way if he thinks he is worth $30M he can go get that from someone else and we still get 2 first round picks in compensation if he does.....or else he accepts the tag and we continue a lower trade or lower contract. This is exactly the purpose of the Non-exclusive. But on Burns - the $27M is easily fair considering his production and age - yes he would be 2nd highest, but not long as the market always adjusts. It is high enough to be fair but low enough to be where he is valued for the next 3-4 years. If he can't see that then the problem is him. I'm a fan of transparency - the locker room only needs to know that you are working with him professionally and the 2 sides disagree - details aren't required. If Burns of the others want to spread details that is on them - if it gets detrimental that is on them and you need to move on from them. But the Front Office just needs to be fair and consistent....not held hostage by immature young adults. That is how we ended up in this mess.
  9. Actually on the Burns side - I did see the Baltimore trade proposed by Bleacher Report which was 24 1st, 25 3rd and Ojabo....so maybe I am wrong on the 1st and 3rd being gone. I would take that deal in a heartbeat....then draft 2 WR's at the end of the 1st round, and then see if we can steal Ja'tavion Sanders in the 3rd. Spend the rest of the draft on OLine and DLine
  10. I honestly want us to draft at least 2 WR and create a young, hungry WR room who push each other instead of more of the Veteran remix we keep trying. Take the GB strategy and see who pushes up. This is a deep class and we have massive needs there - we should take a strong group IMO since it would be a huge, cheap win if it works.
  11. Yeah Aiyuk is really not reasonably attainable for us unfortunately. And the 1st and 3rd for Burns days are long gone as well....we'd be lucky to get a single 1st now....but maybe when the draft rolls around we can find a desperate sucker who will overpay. More likely is that we sign some of the younger, midlevel guys at those positions and build through the draft - then we will have more money next to year to go bigger if the draft works for once.
  12. 100% agree - those "Hog Mollys" have to be #1 priority
  13. I hope you are right - but seems like a stretch considering he was beat off his left side on a speed rush about 50 times...not sure how a guard helps that. Dude gotta move those feet!
  14. If we don't fix the LT you may get your wish
  15. ANY money spent right now on a player who won't be here more than 3 years is a stupid waste...plain and simple...this is a FULL SCALE rebuild people. It will take a few years AT LEAST before we are competing for a deep Playoff run....why waste money on guys at the end of there career? We should be cutting/trading anyone in the 2nd half of their career other than massively cheap backups....period...
  16. It's amazing what WR's, an offensive line, 12yrs experience and a Head Coach can do for a QB
  17. I actually read that Russ would likely be had relatively cheap compared to most FA QB's because he would have so much guaranteed by Denver anyway....but I still don't know if he moves the needle much more than what we have
  18. Ah the maturity of you kids - sorry for assuming your age but lets' be honest, only people who act this way are young or immature, so basically young.
  19. Here we go - what hate? Facts aren't emotional....I am not giving any hate at all...feel free to show me the hate I posted?
  20. That sir would be called cherry picking - 4 out of 5 years huh? So we just ignore 2011, 2012, 2018? And what did he do in those Playoffs? 3-4, 7 INT, 5 FUM. And remember who this thread is about....the 1st ballot HOFer who ACTUALLY carried this team from 2012-2017....not Cam.
  21. No debate there - but the shiniest scooter still makes you a loser if you ride it...
  22. Grow up - objectivity doesn't make someone not a fan. Only children care about whether someone "despises" a player....I could care less about Cam as a person, don't know him at all. On the field he was frustrating to watch and led us to mediocrity for nearly a decade.
  23. I would completely disagree that Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson don't qualify as the same level of running threat as Cam. But even if they were not there it still doesn't qualify for the HOF. Who else exactly is running this read option offense with high success in the NFL that Cam supposedly kicked off? From what I see they have tried to normalize it without much success - the best example again is Lamar but you said he isn't like Cam (even though he is clearly better).
  24. Unicorn does not qualify anyone for a HOF - that is a career-based honor for the best players of their generations. A guy with only 3 Pro Bowls in 10 years, a losing post season record, no Super Bowl wins, 1 MVP & AP. I would also argue he isn't a unicorn - Michael Vick, RG3, Lamar Jackson? Rare but not the only one...and it is clear that Lamar is >> Cam - and if he ended his career today he isn't a lock for the HOF....much more likely but not a lock
  25. Those 3 resignings were last year - they are not signed for 2024 yet
