  1. I would bet it will be Zappe - and I would scoop him up immediately without apology. He is a serviceable backup with significant starter experience, low cost, and young.
  2. Mingo last season didn't look ready to be an outside receiver - he looked like he could be a decent slot guy. But due to team needs he got forced into a role he wasn't ready for and had passes forced at him all season. He is being completely overlooked by most entities but I think he still has a ton of upside - I hope he sees a huge upswing this year. TMJ I am just sick of hearing about - right or wrong mentally I am just done. He has had 3 seasons where they hype him up and shows absolutely nothing during the season but drops and disappearance. Might be unfair but I can't waste brain power on him anymore - I want him pushed to the PS and let Coker get his reps. That kid might be amazing and deserves the same chance TMJ has wasted for 3 friggin years.
  3. They also play in the AFC East, so 15 years of Brady, 5 years of Allen - most years they could win 10 games and miss the Playoffs or squeak into a rough Wild Card game. Still tremendously better than us most years in the last 9.
  4. You didn't think a 2-win season where the HC was fired mid-season, the owner threw a drink on a fan on camera, our QB had one of the worst seasons statistically in history, and we went into the offseason without the #1 overall pick or any 1st rounder was rock bottom? Love the optimism
  5. McGowans and Poku both gone now too. The way Geuye played the first Summer League game maybe he slides in there at the 4 spot bench - assuming he keeps it up?
  6. The thread is about who we think would be a Darkhorse breakout player, so stats would be the criteria.
  7. ESPN currently has Jonathan Brooks ranked #20 amongst RB's for 2024....seems wild to me but that would be amazing. Mainly because of our current RB room and his knee recovery more so than personal potential.
  8. Yeah - why would we be? The NBA is all about Superteams and Championship runs. None of the splash guys are going to go here until we hit a few stars to build around. LaMelo and BMiller aren't big enough....and Bridges' future is uncertain. 1 Star won't get us a deep playoff run....probably an appearance and 1st round exit.
  9. I've seen so much negative response to this deal. We gave up 2 second round picks (basically nothing) for a 23-yr old who shoots 38-40% from 3, is an above average defender, started half the year last year, has Finals experience. This is a young, inexpensive, great shooting, high-upside role playing guard....isn't that something we need?
  10. https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/mavericks/2024/07/01/dallas-mavericks-klay-thompson-sign-trade-warriors/ Details still being worked out....stay tuned!
  11. Anyone got inside info on what we traded for Reggie Jackson and 3X 2nd RD picks? I would assume not much and we release Jackson but...
  12. Man I hope they don't trade up - what for? Horrible draft this year. Just take the best available and wait till next year.
  13. Truth - the only way to change that is drafting better trading smarter. The whole thing is still series of bell curves. People gotta realize "worst to first" takes a few years in preparation or incredibly lucky circumstances. We will be a few years from shoring up the foundations of the franchise, but it starts with 1 great draft class. This one could legitimately be it....or not.
  14. Respect....in my opinion the absolute, without a doubt, top of the list, most important thing in the world when it comes to the success of any sort of team. No matter whether it is sports, a career, your family, friends, any sort of team on any level. It is more important than details, plans, structure, authority, all of it....RESPECT. But Respect has to be earned and can only be given to a small degree. It is very easily lost and difficult to achieve. Canales strikes me as the the kind of guy who understands that deeply and is working to earn that individually with each player. I have seen hundreds of leaders go into new roles in different ways, but my limited view of how he is doing it is the most effective way for long term success in most environments. Alot of people see this as coddling (not saying you are wrong at all) but there is a balance between hard stances and giving someone rope, and it is different for every individual what they need. He might be a coddler too much - but so far he looks more like a Respectful Leader - rare these days and seems to be getting more scarce. I hope I am right.
  15. For instance: We spent a ton of money on 2 of the best Guards available, we cut our starting Center at great expense, we traded for a WR, we spent 3 of our top 4 draft picks on offensive weapons, spent time so far at OTA's working on Bryce's footwork, and our coaches and owner have all expressed 100% support for our QB while stating a gameplan to play to his STRENGTHS We DIDN'T upgrade our backup QB, draft a mid to late round QB, trade for or sign R or Z Wilson, Tannehill, Fields, Jones, Darnold, or Garoppolo These are all FACTS - not media statements or opinions - and these facts point to our coaching staff, who are more qualified than any Media outlet, believe Bryce is capable of moving forward. If you want to know what to believe, that is the most reliable information available. Not these Media takes.
  16. There are dozens of guys saying he will step up and dozens saying he won't. The media on all levels is nothing but hot takes and click chasers these days. There is no way to know who is being truthful anymore or even qualified to makes these claims. Watch the team's actions - listen to what the coaches and owner says - that is the only information that will help see the truth at times. Media doesn't report anymore - just pushes narratives.
  17. For me to judge I look at it by group: QB - Improved most likely RB - Improved most likely (rookie upside) WR - Greatly improved (rookie upside) TE - Improved most likely (rookie upside) OL - Greatly improved DL - Slight downgrade (maybe? Robinson + Wonnum + Clowney < Burns??? Could be equal or better) LB - Slight downgrade (different players - rookie upside) CB - Slight downgrade (rookie upside) S - Push Coaching - Greatly improved To me I expect us to be significantly better overall - but significant over last year means 5-6 wins.
  18. College coaches told him he would be a Center, our staff is confident in him being a Center, he sounds confident in it, he has been a starter at Guard for multiple years on a SB caliber team, the highest paid centers in the league average being drafted in round 4-5 so they aren't tough to grab later. No reason for me to think I know better than all those experts and the guy doing the job.
  19. I'm sure it was frustration induced, but that doesn't make it any less damaging to the team. And the running the ball winning the game - maybe maybe not but that is not the offense we installed. You can't just decide to run the ball if that isn't the scheme you learned - guys need the structure. This new TCU offense is not designed for that - still doable to an extent but bucking the Coach and OC is never OK and just shows a maturity issue. He might grow out of it but many don't in time to prevent ruining their career. I also don't see him as a natural pass catcher as you stated - he was trending but never really established that.
  20. Shipley's attitude last year bothers me - heard some stuff from people connected that he has a bit of a diva and complained about not getting the ball. We already have DJ for that lol. But I wouldn't be mad at it if we did grab him later - he was very good in spurts for the Tigers. I'd rather get a true 3rd down RB though with rushing upside to compliment Chuba and help BY in the screen game. Blackshear is good for that but we could upgrade it. I do like Trotter from Clemson for us also - maybe in the 4th, I am hoping we get Sinnott tonight in the 3rd.
  21. As a Clemson fan I agree with this comment. You can get Shipley later. Also we have never drafted a Clemson player, so we probably won't do it.
  22. Building for the future - Thielen is 34 with an out in 2025, Diontae is on a 1-yr deal. TMJ should have already been cut. Better get used to the idea of Mingo as our #1 or #2 as soon as next year - not even close to going anywhere in the near future.
  23. Given Samuel's draft spot he way underachieved so far IMO - LaFell I guess I would give a push to since he had a few good years after he left us.
  24. Sadly we are 2 for 10 based on this list....sure hope Morgan has a better eye
