I would imagine he would be here for rotation. So running downs mostly, 1-2nd downs. he would be a good fit. Don't think of him as your starter.

What if Rhule turns out to be a really good just being a coach?

Fair point. -

Always worth noting....not one person who has worked with Rhule on a peer level or a player has a bad thing to say about him. I also don't know why people make it out to be a mystery, Tepper has been very upfront and vocal about the growing pains they've all had. Everyone can now look and marvel at what a little bit a patience can get you. The belief in the building is they started this out wrong with Marty and a too inexperienced coaching staff and with changes at those it will help Rhule grow by providing him the support a new NFL head coach needs. I think everything else is just people making poo up because they aren't happy. -
This is the entire world now. Instant gratification and sucess or its a failure. There is no more middle ground. Its insane. I swear it was literally a MANTRA that linemen take 3 years to develop and you can't really judge until then. Now people ready to write guys off after a 1 v 1 rep in training camp.

I don't think you can give up on a 1st round DT after year 2 when he wasn't god awful. Can we have some patience for players to develop? You don't think he's kinda good if someone wants to give us a 1st rounder for him? Plus then we would have to spend that pick on a DT anyways unless we want to be real thin at that position....which we have seen before and it is not pretty.

I mean sounds like the kid is going to be a 1st round pick. If he is the pick get on board and hope for his success .

Can we not get a pick from green bay for robby?
PanthersGTI replied to RumHam's topic in Carolina Panthers
I doubt they move him to be honest. He is going to finish out his contract here. Lets just hope he is more of year 1 Robby and less of year 2 Robby. Maybe being in a better offense will help him mentally locked in. -

Here you go man, I just googled it. Took 10 seconds : https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/sam-darnold-rumors-49ers-offered-first-rounder-to-jets-prior-to-trade-with-panthers-per-report/#:~:text=The 49ers reportedly offered the,Jets didn't accept it. -
Per Aaron Wilson: “The Panthers love Penning”

If Campen thinks he can play LT, I'm on board, but only because of him. -
I've never been less excited about a draft in Panthers history.
PanthersGTI replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think its pretty exciting this year. There is no consensus on the best guys and the best fits( on the internet at least ). There is a lot that could happen that changes how the Panthers pick. QB, LT, DL all seem to be on the table. They will have some choices to make on the fly on some true corner stone positions. I also don't really care to wallow in all the coaching staff negativity. For better or worse that's who we are running with, I'm going to be hopeful. Either that or I won't watch or care...but I do care, so I will watch. Plus we have Fitt, you never know about a trade. -
Week Of: Draft Buzz, Rumors, & News (w/updates)
PanthersGTI replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm getting more and more worried they go Dline. ugh. Horn made sense to me, a D linemen here wouldn't. A lot of tackle talent that can fall OR if they just love their guy at QB get him before someone else does. -
Comments from other GMs about the Panthers draft options

One thing is for sure. Every pick of the draft before us is going to have us biting our nails. I wouldn't be shocked at almost any name they call up there at #6 ( or announce a trade back ). -

I mean I know Darnold ain't it....but what has Mitch shown? Until Mitch proves himself up there, I don't think Tribuisky and Rudolph and worlds better then Sam and Walker. They all stink. -

So its a little confusing. If the Steelers are generally believed to be very good drafters, and Colbert is a good GM with a eye for talent. They are a team with QB need and people seem to have no problem with them moving up to grab their guy ( even past us ), but shake their heads at the Panthers getting their guy at #6. I feel like if those guys are looking at even one of these QBs as a legit 1st rounder they are willing to give up picks for....we should at least be willing to take that guy at #6. They do too much right in Pittsburgh. Not that I'm endorsing getting a guy at #6, just that it's funny how it doesn't seem like a big deal to even move up and get a guy in the 1st for GM6 and GM5 says no guy is even worth the #6 pick but it would be a reach. -
Probably talking fishing.

I don't think you can let this change your draft plans. He isn't a known yet. Maybe if he played more at LT.....if he pans out great, we have a bunch of good linemen. Always valuable.
-
Beast. I truly believe he is going to be the best corner in the league within the next 2 years. Having a lockdown CB changes a defense too.
-
I think it kind of goes hand in hand. If you can go out there and make the plays to win the game the team will follow you. Justin Herbert is a good example, quite introvert. They love him though, he balls out. I think if you have it in you to get the team to focus, perform and overcome in the 4th quarter you are a leader.
-
It's going to be interesting. This is where the evaluation talent comes into play. Lets hope with the new offensive staff they can spot what they need and know how they will make it work. I think you can get a young guy to play in your system and win it all, they just need enough killer instinct to seal the deal. Think Teddy Bridgewater, if he could have closed out some games with us by making some clutch plays in the 4th quarter, we win a lot more. It doesn't always have to rely on the biggest arm and the most off platform throws.

Is There Anyone Other Than a T or QB for the Panthers at #6
PanthersGTI replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
Defensive linemen. Pressure is always welcome and that's a position where rotation can really help too. -
Next year’s QB crop is better. Let’s wait until then.
PanthersGTI replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean its always a pipe dream....you can't plan for that because you don't know how the season plays out. Like imagine betting your job ( GM ) on getting the QB you want next year. -
Oh, so he didn't do what you like so he owes you an answer? Who has the reins isn't even known really, you guys just speculated and decided that Rhule was in charge. Just like now some people have decided Rhule isn't in charge...but some people still think he is in charge. We don't know what has or hasn't changed, but looking at way they have operated this off season is promising and shows some ability to adjust thinking when something didn't work.
-
But he already did that.... He has already come out and said he was in over his head when he got the team and he was learning how to be an owner. His initial approach was incorrect and he made changes since then. The biggest being firing Hurney after he admitted it. Its been 1 season since then, I mean the results were not going to be over night but you can definitely tell the approach is better this off season.
