I agree 100%, we are trying to thread a needle here but by getting a project in Darnold for basically nothing (this year) it allows us to not have to give up any assets to move up for a project qb, it makes it much easier to build the oline by using pick 8 and hopefully our 2nd. That also means we dont need to pick a wild ass project like Mond in the 3rd. So if we play our cards right it is conceivable that we can instantly fix our oline and probably get depth or maybe a starter at safety in the 3rd. Damn that sounds good to me. After watching Darnold youtube last night one thing that you cannot say is that he doesnt have a cannon. Dude can sling it for sure. I think anyone that doesnt think this trade isnt a positive step for the organization is not looking at things on every level. Again this trade will allow us to immediately fix our line. Our left tackle problem is solved.

I am telling you like I have said for 3 days now, I can easily see now that the staff doesnt want to hitch their wagon to a major project like Lance. He is years away from being a productive starter. ANd I am using Lance as the example as he would likely be the guy still there at 8

Trading for Darnold just made our draft and team building process way more easier. Not giving up any draft capital in 2021 allows us the either the best cornerback or the 1rst/2nd best LT. This expedites the process immensely. And if Darnold turns things around holy hell we just accelerated the timeline by years.

If Fit is smart he can instantly upgrade the oline in this draft. 50% chance at Sewell and 100% chance at Slater. Pick one and then do it again in the 2nd and waalah, your line is set for years.

Again maybe you just are not understanding that our staff probably doesnt see a franchise qb in Lance. I say lance because he is the most likely to be there at 8. They would rather look at SD career tape and work with that rather than Lance. Like I said, I like Lance, love his size and arm but you have to admit just reps wise he is years away and even then there is nothing to guarantee he can be an above average starter. Too much risk for a pick at 8. If Fields is there then I think its telling about him as well and we can still trade out

I would 100% bet against it. If that were to happen then we would easily trade out. I am telling you the NFL and their scouting dept do not look at Lance like we do. Like it or not he is a major project. I still do not have a feeling one way or another about Fields. he has talent but damn there is just something there that is throwing me off

Sewell at at 8, the best guard prospect in the 2nd and then Darnold (or Mills) with the 3rd pick. Thats a damn good draft. Potentially have your line set and your qb of the future

They never were. Ryans contract hit is way too much for the next few years. Like I said Pitts is a scary option but I think Surtain makes that defense legit day 1. They cannot screw this up.
