If you go back and look at Seattle’s trade backs they normally add up to poo. -

That’s my point. Their board was wrong. Beckton and wirfs are way more valuable than brown. -

Would beckton or Wirfs been a reach last year? -

Maybe someday, but its not going to happen throwing darts in the 2nd and 3rd round. Oh and San Diego isnt moving Slater to guard they immediately announced he was their starting LT. Imagine that, having a franchise qb and immediately drafting a LT to protect him. Damn that must be nice. So tell me again, what are Slaters questions? -

Umm, you realize they just passed up the second best LT prospect in the draft right? -

We havent even had solid consistent play. Dont kid yourself. Pointing out the correlation between All pro and first round is just to show that you have to draft high to get a talented LT. Something we havent done. -

We havent drafted a left tackle in the first round in over a decade. This includes when we had an all world franchise qb. A generational talent. There are less than 10% of tackles drafted outside of the first that make All Pro as a first round pick. So in closing its laughable to even suggest we have a good draft record in drafting offensive line help. Its insanity that we havent even tried given its the one constant on every good playoff team. -

Pretty much this. -
I thought we addressed a bunch of our needs just as you laid out. But you simply cannot sign a top tier LT which is why its depressing, sad, head scratching (whatever you want to say) that we let Slater pass by. The gap between Horn and the next tier of corners is vastly closer than the top tier of tackles in this draft.

Barring injury there is no way he comes in and beats out Erving. Cosmi needs a lot of coaching.
-
Little is the ultimate risk pick. Nobody knows what you are getting, not a ton of film and coming off the major injury of course. He was knocked for not being strong enough or having enough core strength and that and his timing probably have suffered since he hasnt done anything for 2 years
-
No chance he walks in and starts. He is athletic sure but his technique is brutal. This highlights the good and bad and the bad is a lot. Plus he is more finesse than "I am going to rip your head off"

poo, I would try that. Can't hurt. -
There are tons of developmental guys left. Its just a crap shoot on that level. IMO there were only 2 immediate starters at LT in this draft (maybe 3 with darrisaw, but I am not sure there) and we obviously let one go by to San Diego. Maybe what you posted is our plan, start Erving, hope like hell he doesnt get hurt and then get whoever up to speed ASAP. I will say this, there are a ton of IOL still on the board that can walk in tomorrow and be starters. Our oline situation is dire yet.............but we are really on thin ice if we dont figure out the next 3 rounds.

We've done the BPA for years and neglected the line. This is exactly the reason why we have crap for a line right now. Sometimes you have to just pick the best tackle on the board.
